Lyrics
There’s a room you never go in
’Cos you hate the atmosphere
Are the walls all cold and bleeding?
Are the TV people here?
Are the eyeballs always moving
On a painting of a face?
Are you tired of being frightened?
Do you need a man’s embrace?
I used to ride at the speed of the nite time
I was your knight in shining leather
Feel this burning
I used to ride at the speed of the nite time
My head said brake but my heart cried never
Feel this burning love
Feel this burning love
Feel this burning love
Feel this burning love
Well it’s always at the same time
Between 3am and 4
Something dragged across the carpet
Something moaning at the door
So you call me in hysterics
And I know it’s time to ride
I would rather be your lover
Than your spirit guide
But I used to ride at the speed of the nite time
I was your knight in shining leather
Feel this burning
I used to ride at the speed of the nite time
My head said brake but my heart cried never
Feel this burning love
Feel this burning love
Feel this burning love
Feel this burning love
Feel this burning love
(I used to ride at the speed of the nite time)
(I used to ride at the speed of the nite time)
(I used to ride at the speed of the nite time)
(I used to ride at the speed of the nite time)
This song is like Flock of Seagulls meets Top Gun-era Kenny Loggins with some "Like A Prayer" from Madonna thrown in and maybe a dash of Aha. It's an 80s orgy and I'm here for it.
What a fantastic groove this song has, dear madams and sirs
And they never stopped shitting out solid gold, as foretold.
Feels like this could be a cult classic
Synths, chorus guitar, the only thing this is missing to be an 80s banger is the Phil Collins massive gated reverb on the snare.
I can't get enough of that song. I can listen to it on repeat for hours!
There are not enough words to accurately describe how fucking EPIC this song is!!!!!
Best song on this album. I've been playing this album everyday and it seriously grows on you.
Agree. Absolutely love it now.
Very different from other Darkness tracks. And it's cool as hell.
This is just what I was going to say.
Love it, 80s sounding
Can’t stop listening to this song. Tasteful guitar playing (with no face-melting solo!), perfect keyboard textures… and awesome outro. Terrific mix too… you can pick out the acoustic guitar which gets drowned out in most songs out there. Quickly becoming one of my favorites.
'My head said "Brake" my heart cried "Never!"🔥.....'
I'm finding it a complete struggle to concentrate on anything since finding this song😳.
Uh cmon people this is the great song on the album. Step it up now. This shat out gold should be 2 million watches minimum, not 23K...🤔
Frankie will be happy to read this..... My favourite track!!!!
This entire album is PHENOMENAL ☆☆
This should have millions of views… what a time we are living…
I love the 80's vibe. Great track!
Exactly what I was going to say.
Not to 80s classic rock
God this is fucking good
Love Justin's voice in this, what a song!
I'd love to see a video clip to this song. 👍 I vision Balck leather and motorbikes with a 80s theme
This song is Magic. It feels like Stranger Things' vibe! The Darkness Is the most underrated band, unfortunately. But 'I'm sure that This sound was forged in heaven. Or Hell, maybe... It doesnt matter, is amazing!
A very different style for The Darkness. I love the '80s vibe. I wouldn't say it's the best track, but it proves how great they are in any rock/pop genre.
And they've kept their sense of humour, even when recalling a time when music sometimes took itself a bit too seriously:
I'd rather be your lover than your spirit guide!
Another masterpiece by the darkness.
Every radio station in the World should be playing this, and every station that doesn't is clearly too timid to play real, genuine Lowestoft Rock, and should be ashamed of themselves!
The Darkness have the Cure.... Literally.
Has a totally billy idol feel to this and my fave song on the album so far😎
Love this track.
And your music keeps evolving.
One of the best songs on the album! LOVE the 80’s feel.
I discovered this a couple of weeks ago and have listed to it a couple dozen times. Love the more-effected guitar sound - reminds me of Putting Out the Fire with Gasoline by Bowie. I wish the US would give their rock hearts completely over to these guys! So talented and hard-rorking but funny and positive (not depressing and whining)! Good medicine !
Open Fire's twin straight from the 80's. This song couldn't be any hotter.
Exactly
The Darkness meets Flock Of Seagulls
Fucking awesome! This is the one of the greatest bands ever!
Such a good track. One of their best!
The darkness captures the 80s new wave essence perfectly in this song. I love how diversified they can be, each track keeps you guessing. My favorite so far. I do feel like Jussy is in his feelings this album though, like smitten by his girl or something.
I love yew
If you merged The Darkness with The Church in 1983 you get this. Its easily the best track on the album.
Very 80's. This would be amazing in a remake stuff like Coba Kai
gives me vibes of the cult
Classic 80s movie vibes, love it!
I absolutely love this song, and for me it’s their best song, yet. As a massive Rush fan I hear Grace Under Pressure era guitar here, plus The Cult, Don Henley… it’s a brilliant song. Love it.
Had no idea the darkness were this good
It's bizzare when such a great song only have 658 likes.
This is a bit special! Love it 🥰
Oh yes, very special😉
This piece of Music...Wonderful! Thank you ❤
I'm not a professional to discuss about instrument playing and mix, but sure this song creates a unique and awesome atmosphere. I can "hear" the psychological distress in every section and empathize with it. Well done!
Sounds like Streethawk
Como essa obra prima só tem 609 curtidas?????
Almost 16k views. It is the evidence that we who love this track are not quite normal.
Please make a video of this!!
Yeah this one is excellent.
The best thing about this song is when he sings with a deeper range, as from 0:30 - 0:55 and 2:05 - 2:30 . I like to repeat that 2 parts. I wish he sang the complete song like that, it really sounds beautiful and relaxing. For the end from 3:00 on I don't care, could be left away, it sounds a bit like Muse. 80's sound I also most of the time don't like, but it does not remind me much of 80's. More like 90's and something sounds gothic. And it sounds like it's dark, cold, wet and someone is driving by night trough a city. It's a night song.
Guys wow. As a fan since the beginning I want to say that you never disappoint, ever! This track I hope makes it on the next Grand Theft Auto, so I can drive at night (possibly in the 80's) and look at the lights and run people over now and then, but besides that, this track is phenomenol. Can't wait to see you in Brisbane, Australia, nothing's gonna stop us this year!
Hellz yeah, Darkness. Reminds me of listening to classic rock station, cruzin. Fuggin rips 😎👍
Takes me back to the 80s 🤘
Love this. Bit of Maniac, White Wedding, Hearts on Fire, Push it to the Limit, shades of The Cure, The Cult, Van Halen … best song on the album hands down
And a whole lot of that Ultravox-vibe. (Which is nice)
Agreed! Best one on thr album!
First group I thought of was flock of seagulls.
best track for shure!
I got Gene loves jezebel and golden earring vibes as well.
This is my favorite track so far on the darkness💕
Last London gig tomorrow is a great chance to play this brilliant track live!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
This song reminds me of the whole 80's vibe The Weeknd got on Blinding Lights, but with shades of Aldo Nova, Queen mixed in. I have this on repeat and can't quit playing it. I'm addicted to it. I haven't felt this way about a song in 20 years.
Fucking brilliant. Just brilliant.
My favourite with Sticky Situations on the album ♥️
This is fantastic,
Definitely one of my favourite Darkness tracks.
Love the 80's vibe.
More like this please.
My favourite track ❤️
One of my favourites on the album. Waiting for my knight in shining leathers.
Can't wait to listen to this whole album back to back to back
Doing that now for the first time.
This was my whole weekend; it's a pure delight.
More people need to know about this track! Top 5 all time Darkness songs!
Anyone know how to get that guitar tone? really cool 80's sound. Awesome song!
Chorus pedal, not too much depth but plenty of swell.
May be best song on the Album
I am alone in thinking that the outro of this song is the best part of the song?
That riff, is bigger than my heart to hold in
Reminds me of the beginning of Siouxsie's Spellbound
Tinder Box
i absolutely love the chorus and [what is it?,] flange effects in the guitar tone. great rhythmic track. these guys keep getting better!
I think the flanging effect is just the swell setting on the chorus pedal. It's less "wooshy" than phasers or flangers I reckon.
love me an 80’s riff! this is killer
Very nice !
I’m sure me dp, checked out at least 200 new releases this year ‘21 ( fantastic music year again) first full album to go on REPEAT and I can’t shut it off, one proud longtime fan of the Darkness, thanks for the inspiring, innovative old fashion ROCK N ROLL experience
Foghat Live at Darells house was also on repeat
And Doug Pinnick, IronMaiden, yet to come, End Machine etc.
Épico
Awesome!!!
Awesome ❤️
the most interesting song on the album, prolly
Some how one of the best songs ever 👍
OOOOO love this
Obsessed with this choon! If billy idol, queen, the cure and muse had an orgy together and birthed a babe with power! 80s rock goodness! Would love to see a music video for it 😍
I REALLY LOVE IT!!!
Think it's my favourite one on this album. Goes really well with the Teen Titan/Night begins to shine episodes! ua-cam.com/video/_Vj7_YegklY/v-deo.html
Dear AI, please write a chorus for this song. I really like it but it could be astonishing.
I'm obsessed 😍
I’m listening and I’m liking.
Amazeballz loving it
Might be my favourite on the album...
It's better than some but I'm not falling in love.+
I absolutely love this song. So 80's.
Still my top tune on the album....maybe tune of 2021 for me overall
Awesome track. Im visualizing Don Johnson runnin down the freeway in the Testarossa on Miami Vice with the city backdrop.
Die hard Trilogy "Dulles Airport" Vibes!!!!!
I'm getting U2 vibes from this one. Nice.
Best Darkness song for 35 minutes...;)
That nifty guitar riff in the verse is so reminiscent of the chilliwack song “gone so long”...nice change up...should do more this and less of the ballad stuff
Turn it up loud and hit repeat. Damian Malka.
So The Cult, great!
Still best track on the album
The perfect FM song!
its a fuckin brute
