You can do all of these stretches and strengthen programs but if you breathe incorrectly, you will continue to overuse your upper body muscle to breathe and weaken your lower body muscles which will consequently lead to upper body pulling your rib cage upward 👆🏼 and you'll always need to stretch to feel better but the real solution comes from down 👇🏼 pelvis and diaphragm are the key components for a balanced body. People stopped using the main muscles ( abs and intercostal muscles ) to breath and are using the accessories muscles ( mainly the sternocleidomastoid muscles) as their main source of breathing. Which leads to your videos. In a long run, what you are teaching is a temporary relief until it comes back.
Hi Grant, big thanks for the video! I tried the upper trap stretch while going against the pull, and it worked wonders! Just one question though, I held the stretch for 5 seconds, would that be enough? And how many reps and sets should we perform each day/week? How should we progress with this stretch exercise? Many thanks!
The aim is to try and mobilise some stiff, restricted underlying joints in the upper back. It’s hard to specifically target one single structure in isolation, so it can also have an impact on any overlying soft, or connective tissue as well.
How did you find things? Hope it helped!
Super helpful! Loved the links between the joints and the muscles. Never crossed my mind 🤯
Glad it resonated Carla!
This info is really solid, and really well presented.
Appreciate that NR! Glad it resonated with you!
Thanks Grant, another key area I need to fix.
Traditionally, my neck and traps have gotten super tight when I train pull ups.
You’re welcome mate. Hopefully it puts some of the pieces together for you!
My arms are way too long to get a stretch from putting my hand under my butt when sitting. Long arms and short torso. Lol!
I hear you! You can always grab onto a seat or something lower instead!
your videos are helping a stiff old pommy a lot. thanks so much. do you have one for external shoulder rotation?
Coming soon!

@@YourWellnessNerd great and thanks again
Great explanation but it's not a permanent fix as long as the breathing is not fixed.
Why do you say that mate?

Hey mate, the minimum dosage is just enough so you see improvement! The more the merrier though!
So is this releasing the fascia?
