Incredible... Try to compare one same show in 70´s with this show. Think about technology evolution. Uau! Thanks for sharing with us! Greetings from Brasil. Gilberto Mendes,
14 year olds everywhere with an ipad and Maschine will now imagine they are like Kraftwerk. In truth, they were a creative force from about 1974 -1986 and thereafter have been happy to regurgitate the old stuff ad infinitum. (Tour de France Soundtracks aside.)
thanks a lot for uploading this! it proves to those people who mock and arguing that Kraftwerk don't do anything at all. They actually a real music engineer and also programmer! not easy at all! 👍👍👍
Ralf: Vocals, live melodies and live vocoder. Fritz: Percussion and sequence manipulation. Henning: Bass and sequence manipulation. Falk: Live video and Falking around the internet.
At least it finally shows what they are doing. All of the head-on videos showing them live make it seem like they might not be doing anything and just making movements to pre-sequenced music.
Dude, can you do that? , I think not! Krafwerk started a phenomenon! They are pioneers in this dance music revolution! I'm disappointed in you for saying something so stupid , you obviously do not know anything about anything! You are so lame! Go stroke your "thing" n cry in your corner! Until you have anything nice to say about kraftwerk,,, then when you do , then put an incisful comment on here, OK douchebag? !!!
Nice to see it from that angle! It's a live performance, in a different way than, for instance, an acoustic jazz trio. You can apply many different sounds, pre-recorded vocals, loops and samples to the same keyboard and use it as a controller to trigger and play as you wish. Ralf plays a lot live, but obviously much of Kraftwerks music is programmed and sequenced in advance. They do variations with filters and other parameters and keep the tracks fresh. It's not just pressing play as some probably think.. :-)
thanks a lot for uploading this! it proves to those people who mock and arguing that Kraftwerk don't do anything at all. They actually a real music engineer and also programmer! not easy at all! 👍👍👍
***** Oh yeah? Which venue? :D yeah I really love their setup, those cool instruments that really not easy to be played. I need a video of them showing what they do onstage
Why is it wrong to use modern technology for their music. Everything evolves. That they are making music since the 1970s doesn't mean they have to use the old gear.
This has been a $1,000,000 question me and my mates have wondered for years. I've seen Kraftwerk in full line up and now with Sir Hutter and his new three musicians. It serves to confirm, they were and still are 'masters' of the electronic sound, and the work going into each show with 1,000's of samples is just class. Thanks so much for this upload. No myths - Just real people at work
This is great. I saw them last night and really wish they had a camera from above. Would have been funny too if they mocked up something and it showed them playing spotify or checking email and facebook.
Fascinating to see how far their consoles have come since the Minimum-Maximum tour, although I have to say that face on they still look like four accountants hotdesking in front of a Sony Megatron!
They look like they just stepped off the set of Tron legacy. This was the music that Afrika Bambaataa sampled for Planet Rock. Apparently, Kraftwerk wanted more royalty money for the use of Trans Europe Express.
Thank you Sir Hutter and your 3 musicians for keeping the KRAFTWERK legacy going!!! R.I.P. Florian Schneider 🙏🌹I saw KRAFTWERK in 1983 The Computer World tour…I remember it like it was yesterday!!! I know in life things change and people change, but it is still damn BRILLIANT!! I am seeing KRAFTWERK June 6 2022 in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 I cannot wait!! Pure Gold📀📀 Luv LA ♥️🎵🥇
This time next year Kraftwerk will be getting ready to celebrate their 50 year anniversary....(1970 - 2020) ....😮absolutely superb....need I say anymore...?
Willy Billiams..: que bien esta tomado el video ...como se nota el trabajo de cada uno de ellos..es espectacular verlos es la primera ves que los veo desde otro angulo ..felicitaciones por grabarlo pausadamente y claro ...saludos Osky,.-
I think for Kraftwerk the usage of computer synthesis not only helps to streamline their performances but also helps them keep their "artificial/minimalistic" look up to date. Besides, in a live performance use of computer synthesis will do just fine, as most of the existing sound delivery methods won't be able to project subtle nuances in sound present in real vintage equipment. In a studio situation it might matter. Plus, who would want to haul an Orchestron to every performance?
They spents years digitalizing their analog equipment, so the 'sound' itself it's more or less the same. They are just doing what they have done all their life: advancing with the technology.
What you see on the stage is what is being used. There are clearly multiple tablets (I see two Sony Tap 20 or 21s; and two iPads -- not sure what Ralf's using but it looks too large to be an iPad, likely a Surface Pro or Tap 11) powering midi controllers. They started using this setup a few years ago. From 2002 up until a few years ago they used Sony VAIO laptops with midi controllers. They've worked with Sony for decades. Haven't seen anything that resembles an analog device since the 1998 tour.
They always used technology and especially new technology. First Sequencer used in Trans Europe Express. First Sequencer that was able to do the drum tracks and synchronize that with the sequencer in 1981 (called Triggersumme).
I always like this tune! Ever since the first time I heard it back then in 77!! They were way ahead of their times this song would be perfect even by today's standards, I feel like I'm watching Tron the movie! Simply awesome!
Guao brothers god bless you, that talemto gave it to you, Jesus Christ and I dance like a robot. My account is the angel robot I am from venezuela veamlo, thanks
+Sun Ray Funny story... After their album, "Trans Europe Express," critics responded negatively by saying, "they sound like robots." Haters never learn.
When I first saw these close-up videos I was thrilled... but now I think they reveal way too much of what they are doing and in particularly what they are not doing on stage - and the magic kind of disappears... I am disillusioned... Still a huge fan though and I will see them in Utrecht.
They're basically playing everything, but in digital. It's also pretty obvious that the songs are not exactly like the studio versions, they actually change stuff and improvise a bit on each song. It's still played live.
Very nice and rare to have top-down view to see what they are doing. They seem to want to conceal that with their podium-like setup, I guess for conceptual reasons. Wholesome to see them improvising and "jamming" together, even fucking up some... goes completely against the idea of them as precise and humorless control freaks. Thanks
42 EXAbyte i don't like the albums where they used digital equipment. I like the originals (for example trans europa express from 1977) more, because i think analogue vocoders sounds better.
its not the equipment that made it sounds weird, is was pressure from the record label to make something that would be popular, not something that would be good
I believe so, he doesn't work on the music part, only in the video part so he doesn't need do a lot of things like the others, just keep the eye on the video perfomance while doing something else.
Well, here's the gear list that i have spotted: QuNeo MIDI controller (on the right side, controllin video stuff), Ipads (which apps? TouchOSC? Lemur? etc), Maschine 1. How about the Ipad apps? anyone?
I'm sure Ralf said in interviews that they worked on a custom software designed for their needs. They also took the gargantuan job of digitalizing all their old equipment into sound banks, thus they use the 'same' sounds of old in new technology.
I have a tough time imagining Kraftwerk going onto the App store and downloading a few apps! I've got my tickets to see them in San Diego in September. I saw them in Vegas a couple of years ago. Was as close to a religious experience as I ever figure on having.
In this video there are two Sony VAIO Tap 20 or 21's, two iPads, what appears to be three custom touchscreens (for the visuals), and Ralf appears to be using a tablet too large to be an iPad -- likely a Surface Pro or a VAIO Tap 11.

the song that led me to rollerskate. timeless kraftwerk!
Even with a bit of BTS (behind-the-scenes) view, there is still so much mystery and intrigue about what goes into their performances!

Maestros de la electronica. Ke tal temazo,me gusta
I love their clothes I would wear them to a nightclub party or concert
Amazing!!! Kraftwerk Forever!!
Love the fact that they have on stage control of the visuals, mix, that is unique.
I've always wanted to see who does what. Now that I've seen this, I still don't know what 2 of them are doing. haha!
Ralf: Vocals, live melodies and live vocoder.
Fritz: Percussion and sequence manipulation.
Henning: Bass and sequence manipulation.
Falk: Live video and Falking around the internet.
Actually Henning does the bass lines, while Fritz does the percussion. Correct apart from that 😄
Ah yes, you are correct, fixed.
Answering emails, checking sports scores, facebook and downloading songs from Spotify....😅😃🤣😂😁😂😂😆

Top song remembered in the 5th grade, while on safety patrol. amazing
what a epic tune..timeless
OMG look at their synths!
THEY ARE ANOLOG SYNTHS CONECTED TO A DIGITAL SOURCE
it's more fun to compute
I still love this jam i use to Break off this I feel like I'm a computer
So the setup is a keyboard, internet screen and what looks like a Korg pad of some sort. Interesting!
I’m going to see us in PARIS after saw Rammstein 15 days before, Deutschland music 👍
Very good

No they didnt
@@seanmoore9878 yes they did
I am kind of disappointed regarding the amount of iPads and the lack of vintage gear in there.. this somehow just busted a myth for me.

They want the attendants to focus on the music, not on them. Can't be more obvious with the current 3D tour.

that's why Kraftwerk songs contain few lyrics only. Just like Autobahn that only has 3 verses but can be played until 40 mins!
