Lyrics:
I feel your breath upon my neck,
a soft caress as cold as death.
I didn't know you well back then,
I blame it all on luck and vain.
Your blood like wine, I wanted in,
oh darling, get me drunk and make me feel!
It's not my fault,
I'm not to blame,
These ain't my sins,
I broke my chains!
There's more to do
and I still want to live.
I feel your breath, upon my neck,
a soft caress, as cold as death.
I feel your heart-beat in my soul,
our futures bound, our bodies know.
Your blood like wine, I wanted in.
Oh darling get me drunk, Invite me in!
It's not my fault,
I'm not to blame,
These ain't my sins,
I broke my chains!
There's more to do
if I can only live.
I can't go yet,
Don't let me die!
I'll never stop,
Until I'm done!
But just tonight
maybe I'll rest in peace.
I feel your breath upon my neck,
a soft caress as cold as death.
I hear your heart-beat in my soul,
our endings bound, our bodies know.
I can't go yet!
Don't let me die!
I want to live!
My only one!
There's more to do, if we can only live.
The clock won't stop and this is what we get...
This song landed a critical hit on my heart.
With advantage obviously.
For those who don't know, in Act 1 if you climb on the rock behind Astarions tent. This song plays.
You can repeat this process
its also one of the credit songs
It also plays when you go to the vista overlooking the Chionthar at the Rivington camp right at the start of Act 3.
I definitely stood there and listened to this song for a solid half hour lol
The soundtrack to this game is outstanding. Literally one of the best I have ever heard, and the fact you can miss certain tracks by not going down a certain path is amazing as they know you'll replay it more than once.
Before playing BG3: "This is a beautiful song. Sounds a little sad, but very nice"
Me now, after having finished a first playthrough of BG3: *sobs uncontrollably* 😭😭❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Same 🤧
😭😭😭
Literally I get chills from this song like holy shit T_T
I also have a sneaking suspicion that the devs knew the majority of players would pick Shadowheart or Astarion as their romantic interest and asked the composer to write lyrics that would work for both. Same with "Down By The River". Just incredible attention to detail on the part of the developers in every aspect of this game. The whole experience is wonderfully written.
@@TheJim9191 Down by the River was written for the character "Daisy" which was replaced when the plot was changed. Daisy was your dream character who was replaced by the Guardian.
Few mortals ever glimpse what you're about to see. But don't be alarmed - I'm here with you. Now.. Open your eyes.
i felt like this describe the game perfectly
😭😭😭😭😭
Oh, that's the most memorable moment i had with Gale. Thank you for leaving this gem here
I heard this song for the first time just after I had played Gale's Act 2 romance scene with Origin Astarion. It suited the mood and the characters so perfectly that it is very firmly linked to them for me. 😌
"With you, I forget my goddess. I love you."
God, I love Gale so much. He is my love in this game. I adore Astarion with all my heart, but Gale _has_ my heart, and he can keep it, for all I care.
To me, "I Want to Live" and "Down by the River" are both main themes of the game. One's about the unwavering will to live and overcome the hardships, the other's about the ever-present death that beckons you to go down by its river. Thank you, Borislav and the team for giving voice and sound to this great journey.
Larian Studios and Borislav Slavov have created one of the most memorable moments for me in my entire 4 decades of gaming. I had heard the instrumental version of this song several times throughout the game and when I get to Wyrm's Lookout and decide to explore I find this amazing viewpoint looking down at Rivington so I stop for a few seconds to admire the view and then I start to hear....lyrics? What? This isn't right, this song doesn't have lyrics....does it? So I then proceed to sit there for the next 5 minutes with a massive smile on my face and a memory I'll never forget. Kudos to both, this game is a masterpiece.
That's so true, the song just started in the right moment when I was admiring the beautiful views in Wyrm's Lookout. Just wonderful.
Good god, hearing this for the first time when you enter the Act III campsite, I just sat there and listened. Truly a masterful piece!
You can also hear it when in the early area grass zone. I kind of consider it the "main" campsite in early game if you are just out in the wilds. Jump up on a flat rock in the camp and it will start playing.
I haven't reached ACT III, so I'm little bit spoilered myself because there is this version xD.
The first time I got to Wyrm’s Lookout and stood out on the cliff looking at the city in the distance I just listened to this all the way through. Absolutely beautiful. To have something that makes you feel like this in a GAME is just an incredible level of art.
A moment of pure peace after the dark 2nd act. An oasis where you can finally get some real rest. Not for long, but it's a rest you deserve. I agree with you, because I did the exact same thing. Standing on the edge and looking out into the distance towards the Baldur's Gate. It's absolutely beautiful.
Exactly. It hit so right I was blown away by this scene.
@@fenomen7073 I had the exact same thoughts, basically word for word, I even think I wrote something along those lines in another thread here. Just goes to show that they evoked the exact feelings they were going for. Story writing masterclass, this game.
It was such a magical moment for me I wish I could convey it in words. Just standing there with my significant other, listening to the song twice or thrice. This game has so much depth.
Yeah, on the northern cliff right?
When you walk away the music resets to standard, but when you stand on the lookout to the city this song plays.
After beating the game as the dark urge, overcoming it, and thinking back on the whole journey this song hits so hard.
The clock noises at the end are a brilliant touch.

Time to write a campaign involving Tav.
Or The Dark Urge...
@@JakDivinci A campaign post-game would be really cool.
on a website about lyrics, they wrote "Oh darling get me drunk, invite me in" on the woman part
But thanks to write it under the video
I think you're right! Edited - thanks! :)

I feel your bread 🍞 upon my neck. It's cold as Dis 😂
This is my favourite one.
This song is my headcannon song for astarion
I think we can consider it canon
Exactly. I mean let people interpret as they wish but I don't see any other character of the group relate to the song as much as him.
I mean you can see everyone of them somewhere in this song but it's Astarion in every verse when I first heard it by accident through my yt playlist I was like 'Oh wow so this OST that plays everywhere is actually about him' because I found the lyrics so fitting. 😂
@@outrider2177 i associate this song with him because it plays during the grave scene. though i wish that scene used the lyrical version but i suppose saving it for credits like they did the power is fair
Some of you may know this already but this song plays when you stand on the rock above Astarion’s tent in the main act 1 camp
I thought it was for the Dark Urge TAV background but also works for astarion 🥰
I broke my chains....there's more to do and I still want to live....PERFECTION
Я не знаю из-за какой игры до этого переслушивал столько саундтреков. Это потрясающая работа
Hearing this during karlachs ending made me cry
Felt the same. Thank god for me wyll saved her I was in bits at 1st
Can't explain how this song is making me feel. There's no word to describe. Only tears and a strange feeling inside ❤️ I bawled when I jumped on the rocks in the first camp, and this started playing...Tell me I'm too invested, but never felt like this playing a game since Skyrim. Thanks for everything Mr.Slavov, your music just makes the experience even more worth it !
"what were they before?" "i... cant remember..."
Without a doubt the best ost in a game I’ve ever heard.
This song is like a parasite I can't get out of my head. Great job!
There was a time when "Sing for Me" from DOS2 was stuck in my head. Now I have this track in my head. Thank you, Borislav.
As sad as Karlach's fate is-- I think this is the best ending for her and a phenomenally moving portrayal by Larian of dealing with mortality and terminal illness.😢❤
"I feel like I can do anything if you're there...even die."
That line absolutely broke me T_T
@@Evilmonkey36 oh absolutely as did "Goodbye sun. Goodbye sea. Goodbye." The voice actor is unbelievable. ❤️
Also plays after Astarion's questline. Esp with "blood like wine" line.. it fits
Personally I find the end of Karlach rather happy, I went to hell with her and Wyll and we are well on the way to finding a solution for her.
@@Nageat68 After the epilogue came out I'd say the hell ending is 100% a happy ending but beforehand it was definitely less happy and more like just trying to prolong the inevitable and hoping you could eventually fix her heart without even knowing if it's possible.
Legendary, truly amazing
Legit had tears in my eyes ias i heard the instrumental in the background when talking to Gale after Elminsters visit :(
Same, but at the end when your companion stories end
"I blame it all on luck and bane" I see what you did there Larian, don't think I didn't catch that!
"It's a terrible day for rain." - Roy Mustang..
I'm obsessed with this song. Reminds me of Windowpane era Opeth.
THIS is a Masterpiece! In a few years of gameing I never had an expirience like I had (have) in this game! Larian and Borislav, my deepest thanks for given us this World!
in THIRTY years of gaming I have never seen or heard anything like this
One long rest away from reaching baldur's gate and this song started playing. A wonderful reward after hours of battles and hardships.
When I hear this my eyes are full of tears and my heart is trembling. Thank you for this masterpiece ❤
I know this song is for me and Astarion 🥺
Thank you for releasing this soundtrack. You deserve awards for this and I hope they will pour all year long.
It really hits hard by itself, but think about Astarion singing this... Critical hit.
Would be amazing
Man.. the sound of the clock ticking at the end slowing and coming to an end. Jesus Christ. I refuse to let Karlach die. We will find a way. Even if we have to take the 9 hells down.
This song was specifically designed to crit against your feels if you kept Karlach in your party.
Hope that she and Wyll give Zariel hell, metaphorically.
read the lyrics, as someone who was close to not being around anymore hearing "I want to live, dont let me die" really pulled at my heartstrings.
Stood with Astarion looking out towards Baldur's Gate in the horizon. Thinking about the fight ahead with Cazador, our talk from the end of Act 2 still fresh in our minds. Then the graveyard scene, the first time I really heard this track playing. Beautiful
The lyrics and vocal style of this song give me the same vibes as Amy Van Roekel's version of O' Death from the Until Dawn soundtrack. I love it, got chills.
I was looking at the lights of Baldur's Gate shine in the distance and suddenly this song starts to play. The first time I hear the version with lyrics. Goosebumps all over my body, I just had to stop and listen for a while. One of the most magical moments I have experienced in gaming.
I know I commented a while back gushing over BG3's music on another video, but I have to again. I figured I'd comment on the piece that has wound up moving me the most out of the soundtrack. I admit I got used to hearing I Want To Live play throughout the game at first and I underappreciated it and didn't know its meaning. It didn't hit me just how powerful it is till after I learned its connection to certain characters and heard its lyrics, and it is so... heartbreaking. I try not to cry when I hear it, but usually fail.
I mainly wanted to congratulate you on the BAFTA award; I can't stress enough how deserved it was, and I felt for you during your speech. You seemed incredibly moved and I was so happy for you and Larian as a whole for continuing to receive such commendations for all you've achieved with this game. It truly has set a very high standard on multiple levels. I was gutted hearing that Larian has moved on from the franchise though I respect the decision. I honestly don't trust any other studio to do the series and characters justice, nor am I confident that anyone else could deliver an OST as epic and meaningful as BG3's. The music is seriously one of my favorite things about the game. Sorry, I guess I'm still feeling a lot of things. But I'll say that even if it ends here with BG3, it's a treasure I'm sure we'll be cherishing for a very long time.
My brother and I have been a fan of your work since Knights of Honor. Haven't stopped listening to the BG3 soundtrack, absolutely beautiful.
For me, this song is entirely about Astarion and Tav as Dark Urge. I LOVE it ❤️
Congratulations to Neil Newbon for Best performance! ❤️
Don't wake me up. Just leave me there dreaming
I fucking love this game and its soundtrack so much.
There’s a camp overlooking Wyrm’s Rock, I heard singing standing at the cliffside overlooking the expanse before the great city. It felt really good, like I discovered something some players will never notice/ care about, but I came across it because I took the time to bask in the beauty of my camp.
...
I'm not the only one that thinks Dark Urge/Astarion here, right?
If someone didn’t write these lyrics with Astarion in mind then it’s very freaky how accurate they are
Or even Karlach with all the lines about not wanting or being ready to die.
I think more of Karlach, especially considering an instrumental version of this song is used in the scene where she dies, if she decides to face death rather than returning to Avernus.
She wanted to live, but not at any cost.
I feel like this song fits mostly with the love stories of Tav and his/her companions, mainly either Shadowheart, Astarion, Gale, Karlach, Wyll and Lae'zel. I mean these six companions have been through a lot of crap in their lives (Shadowheart being torn from her parents and brainwashed into worshipping Shar, Astarion being turned into a vampire and robbed of his Elvenhood, Gale being a ticking magic time bomb, Karlach on the verge of dying, Wyll being disowned by his father after selling his soul to the devil and Lae'zel being lied to by her queen). They were trapped in a life of unhappiness, misery and torment and are about to stay that way until the end of their days. But when Tav came along, their lives have changed for the better as he/she chose to deal with their emotional problems by fighting those who wronged them (Viconia, Cazador, Mizora, Zariel, Gortash, Vlaakith and Mystara). These six went from being a bunch of unreliable people, some of them hate each other and tend to do a lot of questionable things, but Tav was able to change them into better people who fought to save Baldur's Gate from the Nether Brain.
This is a masterpiece. There are not so many songs that make one's heart rumble with a scary power. This is one of those songs.
This strongly reminds me of DoS II bonus track Divine's Lament. I dont know if its the same singer but i love both songs.
Here from your interview wit Dan Allen, amazing!
Love your work throughout the game.
Love your work man, keep it up. 🤘
Don't make me say goodbye to my companions...
There are no words to describe. Only tears and a strange feeling inside.
Thank you for your work! This Games Audio is a master piece like the rest of the game.
This literally got me in tears.
Wonderful music, great game. I love this game so much. Can't get enough! 😊
Playing good dark urge with this soundtrack>>>
ALL the feels.
Amazing work the songs hit especially hard in the credits
listening to this in the car and crying cuz damn i sure do want to live dont i
This is the absolute masterpiece, the last time I liked the song from a game so much it was Drink Up, There is more (The Witcher 3)
the day has begun and here I am
BG3 OST used "I want to live".... It's Super effective!!!
This song could be pointing to your character right before you make the most important decision of your arc in the final act or for Karlach when you finish her companion questline.
What a banger track
Borislav deserved the score music award for his work, to complete the awards board of Baldur's Gate 3 GOTY 2023
this OST is a gift to us all.
thank you ♥
This makes me want to go into the game and help Lae'zel free her people and be with her until the end of our lives😭😭😭
this will be pure nostalgia in a few years
" Goodbye Karlach, I love you. " Saddest shit in the game I swear. 😔😭
Following up on one of the greatest video games ever with an even greater one...
One of the best song of the game ❤
Amazing one! Excited to see when it’s going to play 🤔
Sounds like Credits :)
@@normannseils3936 Oh that could be! 😄 I was thinking maybe it‘s about the tadpole with the „let me in, don’t let me die“? 🤔
@@ethansilverfox Its the only sond with "modern" lyrics. I think it would only fit either the credits or like the way to the final scene (similar to Read Dead redemption 2)
@@normannseils3936 What do you mean by modern lyrics? 🤔 Aren‘t Weeping Dawn and Down by the river kinda similar?
@@ethansilverfox Modern singing that’s not related ingame reasons to i meant to say (like weaping dawn)
To me, ‘Down by the River' and ‘I Want To Live' represent the struggle of the characters. While the former represents the “Dream Visitor” and lull of the Illithid powers, this song represents Tav/Durge and the Origins’ struggle: the unnerving presence of the tadpole, the neonatal mind flayer, that threatens to rob their body and soul, and their coming to terms with the fact they may not survive yet, yet their collective resolve to remain themselves together. Especially since all the Origin characters also are on borrowed time both because of the tadpoles *and* their own circumstances.
Tbf Wyll, Shadowheart and Laezel wouldve remained who they were. Vlaakith mightve not even noticed Laezel if it wasnt for the Prism.
Gale and Karlach were doomed and Astarion too without knowing
I got home and it's 7am est. t-minus 4 hours. Decided to boot up bg3 to clear all save files. Decided to watch the credits and heard this wonderful song. It's almost here. Thank you Larian Studios, I cannot wait to see what beautiful tale you've woven for us.
What a masterpiece this game is 🌌💟☮️
Ive never played the game (yet), and this song feels already so deep, so full of meaning
I definitely did not cry the 1st time I heard this
Ahh such a beautiful song!! Ilona Ivanova and Borislav Slavov's singing is just perfect!!!
This song makes my heart beat so hard like the beats of ADAMANTINE FORGE 💔🔨
Feeling like Karlah ending and they go to House Hope
Karlach NEEDS a better ending!!! #JusticeForKarlach :)
@@MoosPWell, I feel like I got the best Karlach ending lol. Won't spoil it if you don't want to know, but it seems to be the best possible solution to her problem.
Wonderful track😊❤
so beautiful! I want a heavy metal version :)
it was mind blowing to hear it in the game when getting to a lookout point at a Baldur's gate.
i was just looking at the view and this masterpiece played and it was beautiful
Amazing piece! It's captivated me in both my waking and sleeping hours. I just beat the game after months of a slowburn play and making videos. Bg3 hit it in all aspects for me Gaining my top videogame of all time! and the Music will become some of my fondest memories!
“Goodbye, sun. Goodbye, sea. Goodbye.”
Such a great game
What a lovely song with really great lyrics!
Song is brilliant
The moment I arrived in the camp after act 2 I just stood on the wall overlooking Baldur's Gate and took in the moment when that song hit.
Ah, it was such a great moment.
Edit: I was mistaken. It was a different version but still the same song
#JusticeForKarlach
I never thought I’d feel nostalgic for fantasy world I’ve never been to or isn’t real
Превосходно !
Want to say I spent too long listening to this song in Act 3 but I enjoyed every second of it
Lord of the rings of video games. Amazing journey. The companion are a beautiful. I playef a oath of devotion paladin, kind and sweet goodie two shoes and owned Raphael. My i took out the nether brain with lea, zel, karlach and shadowheart who i never left camp without.
"There's more to do if fucking only leave" 🎵🎵🎵
Is this suppose to be a song about Tav and Astarion? Otherwise lol I can’t understand how it relates to the MC
Seems like it to me. The lines about blood being like wine sounds too specific to be about anyone else.
@BorislavSlavov Will this list be released on LP? I'm really enjoying the songs outside of the game too!
For all that made it to the end and made the ultimate sacrifice ❤ you are a hero Faerun will never forget
這絕對是2023最強的遊戲BGM沒有之一!
