These varments had destroyed literally 80 pines on my property when I first moved on the property didnt think they was that destructive till years later my pines fell to the ground including shrubs the hawk is the best tool to use I dont use a probe I just shove water hose down the center of mound for minute opens the hole then set the trap works every time
Thanks for the tip Burt. Those dang things have killed hundreds of my blueberry plants over the years eating the roots of the plants. The hawk traps have definitely made it easier for me to eliminate some of them. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment 👍
Unfortunately I haven’t found anything yet to get rid of moles. If I ever do I’ll be sure to share it with the world. They make me crazy lol Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment 👍
@@TheBlueberryFarmer I use the same technique you have shown for moles (I don't have gophers). The tunnels are shallow and you may have to bring out some soil to make some trap supporting mounds... but 72 kills here and it's the best trap in the world!
Ughhh! Just noticed a huge gopher mound in my mulch area of my front yard. Real soft soil, so these varmints are hard to trap. I have 2 of these Gopher Hawks. Time to lock and load them today. Good video!
Have caught several but they're a real challenge to use in rocky soil. I have to use PVC pipe to route out the holes and hope I can get them low enough. Hate moles!
Hey Beth thank you for your comment. I struggle to get the traps into the clay we have here as well and I haven’t found a good way to get rid of moles yet. Those things upset me lol
Thanks for watching Phillip. Those things are great. They sure have made it easier to keep those gophers under control in my yard. I occasionally get a mole but still haven’t mastered catching those rascals yet lol
Hey Bruce thanks for your comment. Those traps work pretty well and are definitely easier to set than the others. Just be sure to put a little dirt around them to block any light that might get down the hole
I had my dog digging up the back yard trying to get a gopher. After a week, my yard looked like trenches in WWI France. I didn't want to use poison and ruled out a lot of traps because I didn't want to hurt the dog. The gopher hawk was the solution. I'd set it at night after the dog came in. The third night, the gopher was caught about 10 minutes after I placed it. There was only 1 gopher so the problem was solved.
I brought a Gopher Hawk yesterday, set it in my planter, took my dog for walk and my gopher problem was resolved when I returned, all within about 45 minutes.
i got one t of my mole for moles in my yard. That cage catch area is easy to bend and moles tunnels are too close to the surface so when the trap is set the pole w the springs on it didn;t stand upright. it works best when the hole is more than 8 inch or so deep. I'll keep trying
It definitely catches gophers better than moles. I haven’t found anything to really get rid but f moles yet except a dog I had but all the digging he did made the yard a little rough lol. Thank you for the comment 👍
@TheBlueberryFarmer I picked up the auger at Harbor Freight, $25. The idea came to me while trying to use the tool that came with the trap in hard ground. It just wasn't working for this old guy. The trap is 1 1/2" the auger is 1 1/8", so I still use the tool to get a nice snug fit. It's fast, easy, and effective.
Bought a set yesterday and trapped two in less than an hour. This thing just works. To your question of territory, they are extremely territorial and live in areas from 200 to 2000SF.
I'm in the sonoran desert and my garden is only 15 feet by 20 feet and in the winter I have Swiss chard and peas and Egyptian walking onions.the gophers are eating my chard all up but don't touch the onions or peas so far. I was going to put the chard in raised beds but think I will try your method first. They pull the plants underground and thats it!thanks for the info and those tomatoes of yours sure look very good!
Use peanut butter on the trap trigger and you'll catch more gophers. I had bought two gopher hawks and had given up using them. But then I watched a UA-cam movie where the guy used peanut butter on the trap trigger. I've trapped four gophers in five days using peanut butter, where as before the dam things would pack dirt around the trap. Good luck folks!
Hey Ross thanks for your comment. Yeah that peanut butter works great. I use it on the gopher hawk trigger and also on the backside of the victor triggers. Catch them all lol
Those rascals are destructive. I’ve found a way to make them useful though. Hoping to get a video out about it sometime soon. I really appreciate your comment 👍
I love your accent! I just bought a GopherHawk and a probe and I hope it works. If so, I'll by a second one and be a two fisted gopher killer. I also subscribed.

I was checking out yt vids on what people were doing and saw the gopher hawk and liked what I saw.happened to be at the hardware store and one was on the shelf. Got it and set it up.
