Matt and Cassandra started out converting their Ford E-450 Shuttle bus Runaway Lady May; as a quarantine project, and has turned into a lifestyle change. Although Matt swore that he would never sell their house and move into their tiny home, that is exactly what has happened! These two DIY'ers converted their shuttle bus into their home using materials they had laying around, and the Husky tool chest conversion is awesome. Cassandra style is all over their home with a Hippie Travel Treasures aesthetic, which also is the name of their business they run full time out of Runaway Lady May! The cool pallet cabinet doors and the vintage camper stove are so amazing!

I love the vibes on this DIY shuttle bus conversion. I really liked how they incorporated a shower/toilet into their build as well. Take note how Matt grew during this lifestyle. You learn you can't control what happens, but you can control how you react!

I love that you have a hidden bathroom instead of using a specific part of the bus for that purpose. Functional and no space wasted!

It's not hidden when back doors are open.
Love the shut off gas valve and ball fire extinguisher and of course the bus is very cozy and just perfect

Yes our little family is very important to us so safety was a huge factor in our build!
Love the Husky tool chest as kitchen. I bought one of these last year. For the first time in 50 years all my tools have a home. Love to single wide drawer at the top. Very nice build.

The solenoid controlling gas flow is another great idea - I've already raved about using a workbench for kitchen drawers, brilliant. Again, well done!
My favorite thing is using the standing tool chest in the kitchen. Very smart. I haven't seen that before. Where's the cat litter box???
The tool chest is our favorite thing too! Works so well. Our kitty litter box is at the front of the bus it happen to not get shown in the video but it is there. lol.

Love your bus. Everything about it. Wouldn't change a thing. Not even your kitty. My Ginger Maine Coon looks like your sweet cat.eccept mine has harrier ears, toes and ruff. And your doggy is so precious too. We used to have a doggy like yours. Called her Tabby. She's been gone abt 7 yrs now.. anyway...Y'all got great taste and loving hearts. Happy Traveling!
That is so very sweet! Spending so much time with our little fur babies makes bus life so fulfilling!
Workbenches make great kitchen cabinetry! We live in a 70 year old house, built with leftover bits the builder had at that time, and the cabinets are plywood originals. They don't hold much, so we added three garage workbenches, one of wheels, and LOVE them. Mouseproof, and they glide.

I love the simplicity paired with functionality keeping saftey in mind. That switch for the propane, the fireballs, square-ish galvanized sink... there is so much here to take in!

Very nice build. Trying to figure out how the commode is used. Climb over the bed and down onto the potty? I would definitely need a head start if that’s the case. But I really like the workbench cabinet, the live edge wood top and I’m crazy about the stove. Looks like something I’m interested in with the exception of electric vs gas. I could easily sleep in a double bed. With the hub? No way. Just doesn’t work. Congratulations on your new home and many happy travels. Hope you get lots of magnets! Cute pupper & kitty.
Yes that is how we get to our toilet... hop, skip, and jump over our bed lol. The full size bed isn't to bad when we got 2 walls to hug us in. Makes cold nights a little warmer haha. Thank you!!

This is the type of Bus I am wanting to get when I'm ready to do this !
As a widower I can be very comfortable in something this size and go most anywhere.
My main use would be relocating from a cold climate to a warm climate as the seasons change.
Still have my homestead when i want to be home ,
for now.
You both are amazing, I am looking for a shuttle bus to replace my travel trailer. You gave me so many ideas that it makes me feel like I can do this!!
I love the double doors on my bus… for security I added gate locks (attached at bottom, toe kick spring release which required I drilled holes through the floor for the thick metal bars to drop down through… one on each door) and I added steel handles where the doors come together and run a u-shape bike lock for security. If I’m going in and out all day, I just put the u-lock bar between the handles for quick in/out. At night I push the gate locks down and add the locking part to the u-piece on the bike lock.
You were really blessed to get that bus; it has lots of great features!

I’m looking at a bus this weekend and have been checking out many different set ups. As soon as you opened your electrical cupboard, I spurted out “that’s the set up I want”. It looms so organized and looks easy to navigate.
I have many saved videos on schoolie builds (my dream after this cancer journey comes to an end with my hubby). I have to say that this build tops them all! Has everything that I need! 7:00 half the couch for the pup, half the couch for the humans to share. Our bed at home ends up like that most of the time and we have a lab. No complaints though, at least he's usually willing to share. If he stretches out end to end he can take up the whole thing.

Your kitchen storage (tool) bench is a neat idea. I like when people think outside the intended use of equipment. The added space for true storage of true pots and pans is fantastic. Love the guest bed addition. Great that a double bed suffices - allows room for the toilet and it’s out of the way!

This build is my now favorite. Is the "bathroom" accessible from the inside? I couldn't make out if there was space to sit there or if it was just the storage place for it.
It is! we just climb over the bed and pop right down lol!
What a cool van you guys. I really like the interior and how cozy it feels like a job in. I still don't understand where you go to the bathroom and where do you take a shower do you need to be outside in order to do that?

I love these real diy builds. Y'all did an amazing job. Have you considered putting the toilet on a rolling platform and roll it under the bed? You could build storage cubes on either side for the items you had under there.
We have not thought of that! That is a great idea! We love to have multiple minds come together to create something amazing.

Quick question, when you go to get your registration and you have torn all the seats out to get the least amount of weight how do you show that the weight has changed and that it's no longer a shuttle bus?
