Just bought a 2006 Dakota 4 door. Didn't even know it had a sunroof. Rained 2 days. Noticed were all the way towards back and by back seat. And sides on driver's side next to handle to get in. Running electric heater to dry out. Not sure if sunroof even works. Having battery drain issues. So buying a new battery and disconnect. Radio doesn't power down with key out.
I had one like this before my friend, and it was very hard to diagnose. After trying batteries and checking the wiring harness, I can tell you what it ended up being on mine. I had to fix the sunroof because the drain hoses were clogged up and it was getting inside the cabin. There is a piece called a body control module, and what that module does is it controls everything electronic in the truck and it kept getting worse at first the battery would drain a couple of days. Tested the alternator and the battery and multiple different things in the truck and it all came back OK. It turns out and some years of the Dodge Dakota. The body control modules were failing prematurely, and at first my battery would be dead after three days and then I noticed something one day when I was walking by my truck that the radio would flicker on by itself without the keys in it, it made me laugh for a second I thought is haunted. And then I digging and looking and calling around, and I found out that it was the body control module that controls all the electrical devices in the truck and it was filling as it was getting worse. Your headlights can flicker off and on at night or from dim to bright or your radio can go off and on, and sometimes your dash cluster can flicker Can be a real pain and hard to diagnose. But you should be able to pick one up in a junkyard like I did if you can match the part numbers close enough. But you do take a 50-50 chance of your key fob not working if you do this, but you can still unlock the door manually but personally my key fob still worked and it fixed all of the electrical problems.
Thanks so much for this video!! I bought an 06 Durango yesterday. This morning it was raining and all the lights on the dash came on. I thought I had bought a real problem and was going to be spending hundreds of dollars trying to get a dealer to figure out what was wrong with it. Thanks so much.
You are welcome my friend, if I help just 1 person it makes the video worth it. ✌️👍
Thanks bud. It worked. I am so glad you made that video.

Thank you! Very good video. :)
Thank you for the kind words.
@@Mr_Goody I got it done today. Worked exactly as you said it would! :)
@@Mr_Goody Do you have any information on how to get my electronics working again? I have no radio, no speedometer, no door locks, various dash lights, and my left rear driver's side window doesn't roll up nor do my mirrors respond to being re-positioned.
Tnx a lot. I need to try this in my Chrysler Aspen. I just got all dashboard lights blinking during the rain and have wet pillar on driver side. I think water got to the fuse box.
It worked tnx 😉
I’m glad the video helped my friend ✌️👍
Great video, but what about the rear drain tubes?
I’ll do a video on those.
Could you show where the water comes out better at the bottom of the car? Also theres apparently drain holes in front of sunroof (liek you showed) but also in the rear of sunroof which drain by rear wheel well? Can you confirm this?
There are two hoses near the wheel, well that the water drains out of. And on certain models, you are correct it drains out the back rear wheels wells also. Best thing to do is just to look at your Vin number up and it will tell you exactly the specifications of your vehicle.
I would show you where the water comes out, but I no longer have that vehicle. It was just one I was working on for someone.
Awesome!! Great informative video! 😎👍
You’re welcome my friend I’m glad it helped ✌️👍
Pms.keep drain tubes clean.inspect and replace any leaking hoses, seals etc...
Exactly and thank you for the maintenance tips.👍
You failed to show how to clear the rear drains. There is one in each corner of the pan
How can I dry the carpet and get rid of the odor.🥴
That my friend is a different story of how to get the odor and mildew or stink from a car that has been leaking onto the carpet‘s but you definitely need a shampoo with suction to suck all of that dirt out of there and to also clean every surface inside of the car. Also if you use chemicals to clean don’t forget to not get too close to them and if you’re inside the car please make sure your doors are open or your windows are down.
Get a good wet vac and suck the water out of the carpet, let dry and the smell will eventually clear up.Some perfume on the carpet will help to.
@@Mr_Goody no. no
All was great until you literally barely showed where the drain tubes are! I can not find mine!!!!! 😫 And what if you don't have an air compressor..... Should I go to a gas station? lol
Hopefully you might have a neighbor or friend that you can borrow one and the drain tubes are there on each side to the left and to the right and their little holes. You can see where I was pouring water and that is how you test to see if they’re draining too but I wish you good luck and I hope you Find an air compressor and you get your sun roof fixed.
Go to any office supply store or even the electronics dept at Walmart and get a can of air. It is compressed air to clean dust off of keyboards and other electronic devices.
That should do the trick too.
