this video stirred deep undisturbed segments of my longterm memory that had been left untouched to collect dust all these years .... it looks as though some of the structures in my birthplace got a facelift nonetheless they still possess that unmistakeable look and feel of san giovanni in galdo: old , the smell of mildew and moss growing in the dark north facing walls of those alleyways and the knowledge that those walls and stone facades hold so many secrets that they have witnessed of people walking by discussing their daily problems of many old peasants walking past pulling their ass carrying loads of harvest coming back from the lands that made their existence possible. how many secret kisses did those walls witness that could they talk would have startled those folk that as simple as they were left and went on to have children which become lawyers, bankers, doctors. oh if those walls could talk, the stories would be more drama then any confessional the priest ever heard . i can still hear in my minds ear the bells in the 'campanaro' belching out 'vent'un ora' warning all the peasants out earning a days pay that it will get dark soon .....hurry and get home. boy i didnt spend many years there but for some reason something inside me is calling me to go back and touch see feel and smell all that is sangiovanni in galdo at least one more time before i get too old to enjoy it anymore..Luciano
