Hi Kim!! I loved this!! There is nothing like a great ending to pull it all together and this was a GREAT idea to showcase these masterful, scintillating, emotional endings!! The pianists in your videos are certainly great ones and sometimes difficult to believe that mere humans can do this! I was especially touched that you were able to provide the amazing ending performances from Gould and Horowitz....I love revisiting the nostalgia of years gone by and may these amazing and talented gentlemen rest in peace. Thanks for your great insight, musical knowledge and fantastic presentations!!! HUGS, ~Jackie
Oh, Jackie, I just saw that I didn't reply to your comment! Gould and Horowitz are my two top favorite legendary pianists, and I am happy that I can watch their live performances on UA-cam. I just found out that Gould was a huge animal lover and left a half of his money to Humane Society, so now I love him even more. It's sad that he died pretty young, at the age 50. You're welcome, and thank you so much for your very wonderful and remarkable comment!!
Chopin's Scherzo No. 1 also has a magnificent ending - one of the angriest things I've ever heard
Oh, I love the ending of Scherzo No. 1 also and thought about adding it to the list. I will definitely add it if I make a sequel to this video. Thanks for the kind visit and for the comment, Grant!
Scherza no 3 as well
That's probably why you decided to put it in your last classical music mashup.
3:46 boi saw a mosquito
I'm surprised you are the only person in this comment section who points this out lol
Jan Cowell hahahaha
OMG Freaking hilarious!
After many decades listening to classical music, I have come to rank him, Glenn Gould, in the top 3 pianists. But he was definitely eccentric, and maybe even autistic? Hard to beat Glenn Gould when it comes to playing the 3 Bs, Bach, Beethoven, Brahms.
Gould playing a Brahms Intermezzo
ua-cam.com/video/N2g21w604Bg/v-deo.html
"You don't even give them a good bang at the end of songs, let them know when to clap."
Salieri to Mozart, Amadeus.
hehe - i was afraid Glenn Gould was going to hit himself in the head the way he waved his hand around so high
Hahahah...I always get a kick out of that ending!
Bless the Composers who have such incredible talents to think of such high quality music for these pianists to show off their skills. Without these amazing composers...these pianists are nothing.
Great, unique list! The two I would personally add are Liszt's Mephisto Waltz No. 1 and Rachmaninoff's Sonata No. 2. Both pieces have thrilling, acrobatic finishes that are technically monstrous, even for skilled pianists.
I couldn't remember the endings of the two pieces you mentioned, so I just watched them, and OMG, you are so right!!! I will definitely add them both when I do a sequel. Thank you for mentioning them!
Ravel is awesome! I think that the endings of Rachmaninov's second sonata and Chopin's first ballade should have been here too. Great video!
I actually considered using the ending from Chopin's Ballade No. 1. I can't remember the ending of Rachmaninov's 2nd Sonata. Will have to go listen. Thank you for the comment! I appreciate it.
Oh yeah, the ending to the third movement of Rachmaninov's second sonata is just incredible. Those gigantic chords!
I second the suggestion, both Chopin and Rachmaninoff. The latter’s Sonata 2 ending is magnificent.
Hello, my friend. Thanks for sharing. A nice video.👍
Take good care of Corona health and have a happy day.
Lol all of Chopin's ballades could be in the list , his codas are so great , same with his scherzi (especially third one). Otherwise , I love this kind of subject , great vid!
Bah, Bong, Bah, Bong, Bah, Bong, ba ba ba ba Bah, b'Bong...Bah...Bonnnggg!
...is the end of the 3rd Scherzo lol. Marvellous!
@@AnnathePiana Oh the last chords lol. I love the presto just before
There are so many solo piano pieces with striking, dynamic endings, including all of Chopin's ballades and scherzos. Thank you for watching and for the nice comment! I appreciate it.
@@MelodiousHeart1 :)
The ending of Ravel's La Valse arranged and performed by Glenn Gould.

Daniela, it's great to have your visit! Thank you. Wish you a beautiful beginning of autumn!
Hey Kim! Great video with some intense and amazingly performed endings. Wow wow.
I recognized the Hungarian Rhapsody piece but had no idea that was Franz Liszt.
Thanks for turning me on to these masterpieces! 🙌🏻
You're welcome, Dave, and thank you so much for the great comment! I really appreciate your kindness.
N0t a marvellous idea!
Always an interesting aspect of the classical music. Great idea Kim! Congratulations. Cheers, Eddy.
Thank you very much, Eddy. Your comment is always highly appreciated.
I was going to grouch about this video being a bad idea in the first place, but after listening to it and finding it pretty enjoyable after all, and remembering that I'm old and naturally grouchy now, I have to say that it isn't so bad as I'd thought it to be. May your heart always hear the melodies.
:-))) I'm so glad that you found this video pretty enjoyable. Thank you for watching and for the great comment that made me smile a lot.
Horowitz created that ending for Soirées de Vienne! It’s very fun to play and is much better than the original. What a genius!
3:45 "fuck off, fly"
Great !!!! Thanks for the inspiration this clip gave me!!! Big like & greetings from Hamburg, Jimmy
Thank you for the kind visit and comment, Jimmy! I appreciate it.
I tell you, Melodious Heart, you have become my favorite classical music poster right now!!!!!! Just one thing I was so happy to see in this wonderful list of striking endings. I LOVE that you chose the Krystian Zimmerman version of the Chopin Scherzo No. 2! It is my favorite version on youtube. In particular, I love how he plays the arpeggios starting around 4:55. He doesn't just blast through them like so many other pianists. With Zimmerman, you can feel the arpeggios and appreciate the melody carried by the left hand. Wonderful collection, Ms. Heart!!
That coda of the Beethoven variations though... So damn emotionally powerful
It is, indeed! The whole piece is emotionally powerful to me.
Thank you dear Kim for sharing these inspiring endings, played by some of the greatest pianists. From a composing standpoint, I have always regarded the ending as a very special and important moment, which should always come as a "brainwave" or "Eureka sensation" on the part of the composer, not as some standard formula, which unfortunately is what happens in a lot of classical music. One of my favourite surprise endings is the slow movement of Beethoven's Sonata Op. 14 no 2, which is good for frightening the audience ! Have a wonderful Sunday and a great week, Paul
You're welcome, dear Paul. I agree that the ending is very special and important to a piece. I am not familiar with the Beethoven's Sonata Op. 14, No. 2, so I just listened to the Murray Perahia's performance and fell in love with it from the very beginning. I especially loved the first and the second movements. You're right about the ending of the second movement being good for frightening the audience. The brief thunderous chords after very quiet, slow moments startled me, since I didn't know when it would happen. It is, indeed, a very striking ending! I am glad that you introduced me to the wonderful sonata. Thank you for the remarkable comment, too! I wish you a great new week!
@@MelodiousHeart1 Welcome dear Kim, and thanks for listening to Op. 14 no.2 ! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Beethoven's sonatas are a real treasure house of musical inspiration ! Have a nice evening and a wonderful week ! Warm greetings, Paul
There's just too many to list, but those are good choices. Especially love Appassionata and the iconic HR2!
Indeed, there are so many, the list could be for 100 pieces. Thank you for watching!
If you talking about insane ending, you forgot one of the best performances of HR2 from Hamelin. This is insanity it selfs.
Wow, amazing idea, Kim…. You present to us the Grand Finales!!!! Very majestic… I love Ravel, the Pavane more than any other piece.... so achingly beautiful……………………. Your channel is so amazingly successful… well done, my friend! And you delight us over and over again! You know, because I played the piano for most of my childhood and youth, on my way to being a professional which, after I rebelled I didn't become, I still type as if I am playing a sonata or indeed a concerto, with 10 fingers and blind, so I can hit the notes away, at my heart's content…. hahahaha…
If you play the piano, then you know how nuts that Horowitz ending is. NUTS
¡Gran video!! hermosa música 👍👏⭐💎
Bien hecho, brillante creación.
Me encanta.
Feliz fin de semana, #50
Thank you for the comment and a thumbs up, I appreciate it! Have a wonderful week.

You're very welcome! Thank you for the kind visit.
Melodious Heart your very welcome!!! Very excited today!!! I am going to be in a concert for a Festival!!! I will play Aufshuwng from Schumann’s fantasy pieces op. 12 and the 2nd movement of Beethoven Sonata op 2 no 1!!! The video will be posted on my Mich li channel thank you for your videos! And god bless you!!❤️❤️
Ps. I love Seong Jin Cho!!! I saw him live last year! He was incredible!
@@eternalmariacallas2283 Ohhh...what exciting news!!! Schumann's Fantasiestucke is my favorite work by him, along with Kinderszenen and a few others. I really wish I could be there watching you play Aufschwung from it and the beautiful Beethoven piece I also love. But I'll be very happy to watch your performance on your channel. I know you will be amazing!!
@@eternalmariacallas2283 OMG, I love Seong-Jin Cho too! How I envy you that you saw him live!!
3:45 wtf?
:-)))
Glenn Gould; don't question. He's crazy and I mean legit insane, but his Bach is world famous and unmatched.
Nicolas Roques Indeed. Though he seems insane or crazy to us amateurs due to him having a much more deep connection with music and the piano. His playing goes beyond just hitting the correct keys with grace, but rather, he plays with all his being - as if the piano were an extension of his body. I don’t believe anyone but himself can understand that connection, thus him seeming “insane” to many.
Irina looks a bit like Martha Argerich. Speaking of her, her performance of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody number 6 is absolutely jaw dropping.
I agree, Argerich's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 6 performance is absolutely breathtaking! I never thought Irina looked like Martha, but since you mentioned it, I guess Irina and young Martha could look like sisters.
It's always a pleasure to come on your channel. Bravo and thank you for this beautiful and original music very pleasant to listen and always full of talent.
I wish you nice sunny day.

Hearing gould is always a mystical experience, but I don’t always want to have one ahha
Seong-Jin Cho is unbelievable!
Bravissimo
Thank you!
¡Fantástico y maravilloso!.

For me, my favorite ending is the impromptu n.2 in E flat major op 90 by Schubert.
That ending in minor on a major piece, gotta love it !
The Zimmerman version is my favourite.
아름다운 피아노 연주곡 잘 들었읍니다~감사합니다~🎵 🎹
You're welcome, and thank you for watching!
You should see liszt's mazeppa (transendental etude no 4) performed by boris berezovsky and miroslav kultushev
Super my dear Friend - Thanks you
I wish you happy Day and send
nice Greetings - Hugs ~Sara~
Thank you for the lovely visit and comment, Sara!
Why do I sometimes get the feeling that composers deliberately write this stuff, just to frustrate those of us who do not posses the talent, or are simply not willing to put in the endless hours of practice required to learn these pieces??? And Kim, thanks for including Rachmaninoff's Elegie. That is one underrated, under-appreciated, achingly beautiful piece of music.
Michael, I always enjoy reading your comments. I agree that some composers write extremely difficult pieces just to frustrate pianists. You're welcome about my including Elegie. That's one of my absolute favorite piano pieces. It's too bad it's underrated, but at the same time, I'm glad that not too many people know the piece or appreciate it. Thank you very much for the visit and the great comment!
@@MelodiousHeart1 You're welcome - and thank you...
If you are not willing to put the practice in, is that not your problem, as it is mine?
Wow I didn’t realise, you’ve finally enabled the comment section! Great videos by the way
Thank you for watching my videos. I really appreciate it.
Although these are very impressive and virtuous, I'd love to see some minimalistic endings such as the one from Ravels Scarbo.
Prokofiev's piano sonata no. 8 ending is a personal favorite. But I honestly have too many to liszt.
🙂
Ohh shoulda added Jeux D'eau :')
EpreTroll YES!!!!!!!
All good, but my personal favorite ending has always been Chopin's A♭ Polonaise, Op. 53, "Héroique."
Fred
I also love the ending of "Heroic Polonaise" and considered using it. Thank you for watching and for the comment.
@@MelodiousHeart1 Well, whenever there are more than 10 of a thing, and you want to compile a list of the top 10 of them, something's inevitably gonna get left out!
Thanks for the positive response!
Fred
Супер!!!!!
The ending's usually where the action is ;-) If you do another collection, how about the end of the Reger/Mozart variations for two pianos? It's divine!

A few more to add to your list:
Rachmaninoff Moments Musicaux 4 in E minor
Chopin Prelude 24
Liszt Reminiscences de don Juan
Scriabin Etude 12
De Falla Ritual Fire Dance
I like because of Mr. Horowitz was included!
Great video, subjective from my side, because I compose music from my own egosentric bubble. Who doesn't?
All I can say is WOW, Kim! These endings are spectacular! Oh how I wish my fingers could move this fast!
:-) I wish my fingers could move this fast too! I really appreciate your time and comment, Hal. Thank you!
👍👍👍
Horowitz is so magnificent. A man of simplicity and perfection.
I really like ur pic
@ Glad that you like my picks. Thank you.
I hope you bought that piano dinner first.
Barber piano sonata
Evgeny Kissins La Campanella ending is epic too! You can see how intense it is by looking at the sweat and that hair that fell off during that ending
✿ Great video....Greetings ✿
Thank you, Brissa. I wish you a beautiful autumn!
I think you should have included the Presto con Fuoco from the first Chopin's Ballata. Still a great video, though.
I will definitely add it if I make another video of dynamic endings. Thank you for watching and for the comment. I appreciate it.
What about Winter Wind (Étude Op 25 No 1) and Harmonies du Soir (Transcendental Etude No 9 I think)?
Good choices, but Winter Wind is No. 11. I love the glissando at the end of it.
Hi Kim! The first man who played.. I remember Tom & Jerry Cartoons. running here & there...
Chopin waltz no. 14...
I love Chopin's Waltz No. 14, it really does have a striking ending.
La campanella would of been perfect on this list
U mean on this liszt
@@devonchristopher5837 nice one😆
It has the best melody i ve ever heard
_GamePatcher_ then you need to listen to more classical pieces.
its kinda lame as a ending tbh, looks cool but like doesn’t have a really strong coda feeling
I would say any work signed by Rachmaninoff by his last chord signature "bump-bada-bump".
I love them all! I personally would have added La Valse by Ravel and Hungarian Rhapsody No.6 by Liszt on this list because both of them (especially the ending of la valse) just keeps you stunned after the great Crescendo
Great list! (want to listen to chopins second scherzo right know) kinda missed rachmaninovs first piano sonata here. Although the sonata isnt that great, the ending always got me :D
The ending of Prokofievs 7th and 8th Piano Sonatas...
Luke Tuke very true, and his 6th
gosh it's been so long since i heard soirees de vienne no. 6. Now I need to buy me some schubert and schubert/liszt. I think i might have finally gotten into him lol
Horowitz: simply the best!
Long time no see, Kim...
How's life going? Those endings were really spectacular. Where do you fond them??? I can't find one good performance of a piece I look for and here you come with 15 of them😂
P. S.: 3:45 that was hilarious😂😂😂
Hey Roman, it's great to have your visit here! Hope you have been practicing the Rachmaninoff piece. I haven't forgotten about it. By the way, there are 10 endings featured in this video, not 15. :-) I always find the videos I want to feature on UA-cam. UA-cam is an amazing place for music lovers, I love it! Hahahah...yes, I laugh every time I watch Glenn Gould at 3:45. He is my all-time favorite pianist, I have an immense admiration for him. Too bad he died at pretty young age. Thank you for watching and for the comment! I appreciate it.
I'm making some quite noticeable progress with the prelude. I think it'll be ready towards the middle of October. I'm also dedicating some time to the fugue from Bach Toccata e Fuga BWV 914. I also almost leaned that one. I think the best execution of it was is by Grigorij Sokolov.
Hope we see each other one day! 🙃😁
Have a nice day! 👋
@@romeodrucker5248 Oh, I am already excited for the Rachmaninoff piece! I just watched the Sokolov's performance of the Bach piece and loved it. I know your rendition will be a great one! Have a wonderful week, Roman!
Was expecting scriabin to be here somewhere tbh
Very nice!
I would’ve included Rachmaninov Rach 3 !
John Mccormick that’s a concerto, these are solo pieces!
3:45 waving away them haters
I played 4 of these
Thank you but you forgot moonlight sonta performed by Valentina lisitsa of course the whole part of that of that was fantastic.and it's a must see piano performance . Valentina is definitely one of the best pianists 😍😍👌👌

One piece with a very surprising and funny end is definitely the butterfly etude by Chopin!
Where is shchedrin’s al la albenez? The ending is stunning
Horowitz has no right being that old and playing that effortlessly
To me, the ending of beethoven sonata no.31 and 32 are the best.
Does It exist also a video about " remarkable beginnings"?
Yes, indeed. Here's it is. ua-cam.com/video/seidTXLFvg0/v-deo.html
The ending of the 3rd movement of the Moonlight sonata is EPIC. Sad that it was not considered good enough for this list.
You're right, but there are so many great piano pieces with an epic ending I didn't include here. Perhaps I should make a list for 50 EPIC endings, or at least 25 endings. :-) Thanks for watching and for the comment.
Chopin has the most interesting pieces
I agree. Thanks for watching.
Same with Schumann, but he was mental lol
