@Alpha-0014 lol fair enough, it's good that one of us at least had fun with it. i just couldn't get into it back when I first tried it, because of the controls. to this day I can't get used to playing an FPS game with anything other than mouse and keyboard. now that the remaster's out, I gave it another chance and yeah, it's actually mad fun. wish I could get my brother to try it so we can play together.🤣
I will never forget when I first booted this up on the N64, I was 11 years of age. The intro of all the monsters with the quake logo and then...BAM! The symbol drops and this song starts. It is both incredibly intense and subtle. It truly captures the essence of the game.
I feel as if this N64 soundtrack is more similar to the original Quake 1 game's NIN sound track. I liked Q2 for the PC and that music, but this has its own creepy dark feel like the original game (soundtrack wise). As for the N64 port game, I gave it an hour or so and gave up haha. Just couldn't handle the controller (mouse and keyboard guy).
This game gave me the fear of robots or anything that is made of wired object that can chase you around making stomps. And people ask why I don't play the zombies map "origins" in the call of duty series... well because I'm scared of that huge robot stomping everywhere. Why do I dislike watching terminator? Because the robots scare me. All because of....this.
I remember when I was little - watching my older cousin and brother play this game when they'd have a sleep over. This theme always sounded f*cking badass to me. Still sends chills down my spine like it did back in 08.
back in 06 we didnt have much money but my aunt gave me an n64 with that one south park game, dk64 and quake 2. this main menu music gives me a rush of dopamine and adrenaline playing 4 player multiplayer :') wasnt around for the community and events but now that im older im glad i can look back at these memories
This still gets stuck in my head like once a month. Man I'm 23 and had 2 older brothers growing up and the 64 was just classic. Glad my middle bro keeps the 64 safe along with those classic games
not that Sonic Mayhem's work with the PC version wasn't good, but I always preferred the ambient tracks on this game. Wish I knew how to port the N64 music into my PC version...
Well the PC used to run the music from the CD. You could burn selected tracks to a CD and place that in the disk drive while you play. Or play all the tracks from a music program running in the background. You can download all the tracks from the videos you know?

Yes Doom 64 is a completely different game but in Quake II 64 they recycled some level parts, I remember founding a good part of the level that was in the Quake II PC demo, and some other little part...

It's actually a weird choice considering that there is Pressure Point theme for PS2 version and other iconic Sonic Mayhem tracks)

yeah so originaln this was a very great port
Nah, the port is garbage lmao i just like the music

This was terrifying as an 8-year-old.
Damn really? This shit put me right to sleep
I was scared of the dogs
Biden loves it
I know right? This definitely creeped me out as a kid. Probably the creepiest track on the N64 period. Just so ominous and threatening.
@@kennyslg8914 what about Doom 64's soundtrack?
still crazy to me that this released on the nintendo 64, considering that this was the time where nintendo had the family friendly image.

and the Quake II rotating logo and tittle was just awesome looking
The ominous rotating logo put it all together
such an interesting use of the damage pickup sound..
so intimidating
Quad Damage
Why does everyone keep saying that? It's the Invuln running out sound. Not Quad Damage.

That's a pretty cool usage of that sound!
Its the Quad damage sound effect

I loved this game on N64. It felt like its own experience from the PC version but still familiar enough.
QUAKE 2 REMASTERED HYPE
This song always stayed with me... it's so simple and ominous. Definitely puts you in the old school FPS mood.
Something about how sloppily sequenced this is fascinates me
yth it sound so out of sync lol
This song is a bop. This is the song that plays when 2 uber combos try to fight eachother in tf2

They brought this theme back on all the Quake 2 remastered version. So this used to be a N64 exclusive?
Yup. PC and PS1 had different soundtracks.
Im surpised that someone ported Quake II to the N64. Even more crazy, is that some brave souls ported this game to the PS1.
Kickass, despite being slow. Very badass indeed.
Has anyone even made a cover of this? It's just too good.
I love this theme when I slapped on my N64 back in 2001. It filled me with fear and courage to fight whatever a level may hold. Mainly fear. Lol.
Any one noticed that that noise is the pentagram of protection sound?
Quake II is one of the best shooters on the N64, next to Turok 2, Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.
