Have a look for the Bastion Bolt Action Pen. I've made a few pieces of content on them. They're like tanks plus they use Parker refills. They're a wee bit more expensive but genuinely would last a life time
Hi DGA, there's not a lot of difference really. The Fxmd is full metal whereas the F701 had some plastic parts. The newer FxMD is the most robust of the two. Hope that helps my friend
i think the knurled part and the smooth barrel are 2 parts held together by a plastic shaft inside ...... saw it in another video ..... but it solidly built ..... i haven't tried taking it apart though
Hi Tedinerus, thanks for the comment. I'm thinking of making a follow up video and cutting one up. I think if it was a thicker steel it would definitely weigh more too 😊 thanks for watching. Have a great weekend 🤜🤛
@@MoorlanderEDC it don't matter to me the plastics inside ...... when you hold it in your hand it feels solid and there's no way an ordinary hand can damage it at all hehehe ..... i have a few of them ..... the only thing that's a downside is stock refills aren't the best inks ..... but i find it easy enough to do mods and make other refills work with it
I think there's a real love of this as an EDC self defence pen 😊 I think if I was ever to pull for something to defend myself, a pen would be the last thing I'd grab if needed. It's a bit John Wick. I didn't realise there was a mod for these. I'll have a Google.
@@MoorlanderEDC the usual mod is only for the old model replacing the plastic cap on the plunger thingy ..... and also fitting refills like space pen or jotter ..... i have seen one mod on reddit where a guy shortened it and also turned one into a bolt action type ....... best thing about this pen it's cheap just got a new one but old model for $5
Ha ha ha... Heck yeah. I always like to leave stuff lying around the screen when I do these top down videos. I had my PPK to hand so thought, why not. Are you a fan of airsoft? Thanks for watching as well, your support is definitely appreciated 👍
I'm thinking of getting a few replica pistols. I get a lot questions from the US about whether some bag are good for CCW... Plus they're always good for plinking 😊
The F-XMD has a plastic shaft which holds together the metallic facade. The threads are also plastic. It's my EDC pen but in an emergency where you attempt to stab someone in the neck with it...be prepared to make someone very angry .....also....be prepared to run :D
are you sure about this? the FX-MD is supposed to be an all metal pen you can put in a sterilizing machine for doctors and shit, hence the MD in the name
Better look closer at that Zebra pen. It’s not actually 2mm thick. The tip end of the pen has a flange that’s stainless that actually holds a plastic sleeve. If you look really close there is a threaded plastic sleeve inside where the tip screws into the barrel. Sorry Zebra lovers but your f-701 or even the XMD are still not sold stainless. I can’t believe no one has noticed this in all the MOD videos? The barrel on the Stainless F-701 still has a plastic sleeve liner inside which can be seen on both ends. Nice pen for sure but still not what you think they are. Plus if these pens were actually 2mm thick stainless they would be much heavier.
Mr Smith, you're getting credit for a future video for sure brother. How about a tear down with a Dremel video and destruction test? Might be fun 👍 thanks for commenting. Have a great week
Moorlander EDC - Make it happen. I will subscribe just to see the video.👍You could start with a simple video explaining and showing all the viewers what I’m talking about. Follow that video up with the destructive cutaway video with a rotary tool.
Hi Ryan, sorry I missed your message. Yes I've love to make a follow-up piece of content with the original F701. Are you in Instagram? you can message me there if you like
Brother, you still didn't pull out the clicker mechanism to see if it was plastic or not... That's what I was hoping to see. I've been using the "1103" for years. The xmd sells for roughly twice the price of the 701. Has to be something unless it's just food grade S/S. I guess that could be it. Was just really hoping to see a steel mechanism. Oh well, take care man. Mike P. WhorizonEarth
I tried my hardest to see if I could get it out. I'm trying to get hold of the original 701, and I promise you Mike, I'll do a comparison video and I'll get that sucker out of there. Pinky promise 😉 thanks for watching buddy 👍
I can't believe you have a ring exactly like mine!
Filed exactly like mine that used to be black and now looks like that!
But is stainless steel!😂😂👍
Great review very informative I usually carry an f701 and love it specially for the price
Thanks buddy. Yes, it's a great EDC pen for the price and after the apocalypse the pen wtih still be nice and strong 😂💪 thanks for watching buddy
Looks like a good solid pen for "tactical" use but it would be better if it could take the more widely Parker compatible refills.

Do you feel it's easier to write with the f701 or the jotter?
I'd say there's not much in it to be fair however the Jotter is my go to pen. Have you had chance to try both yet?
between the Fxmd and F701 is there any difference?

Thank you Sir
You're more than welcome Maciek 🤟
i'll just casually leave the airsoft gear in shot....

I might do a follow up video and cut it apart. It might be interesting to see what's in there with a cross section. Have a great week buddy

Thanks Zhan. I wish the Walther was real though 😊 thanks for watching
Hey 😊looks a nice pen to be fair not sure id get one i do have a parker pen knocking about somewere
Well you really can't go wrong with a Jotter. You could easily fend off a gang of rabid badgers that a Parker pen 😂

Zebra simply did what we've been doing for years, swapped the click components from the Zebra F-402 in the F-701.
This is sooo annoying
erm... I'm always open to feedback
