I saw this car in Boston many years ago at the Four Seasons. Whitney had a concert in Boston and I was told that she was driven to Boston in this car. This is an informative description of the car's special features.
I will never get a chance to get inside these cars. I love the stepping back in time. And we'll maintained. The roof looks great. Most people with that roof falls apart. And showing Whitney in the perfect dress for the car.
I visited this museum earlier this year. It was truly a spectacular museum. Huge, too, and they change out their displays on a semi-regular basis. Plan a visit if you can. It doesn't disappoint.
And you would think Whitney would've preferred a Corniche convertible instead. Guess the lady loved to be driven instead. RIP Whitney Houston, gone too soon.
Correct. The Citroen DS-19 premiered at the 1955 Paris Show with full hydraulic suspension where Rolls-Royce uses it only on the rear. Both Citroen and Rolls-Royce used the system for steering and braking also.
I love the hand built craftsmanship of the older Rolls Royce cars, but I can’t understand why someone would spend so much money on a car that is famously finicky and unreliable, insanely expensive to repair, and loses about 75% of its value after just a few years of even light usage. Truly the white elephant of cars.
Well she certainly had good taste. I would think that all that lead in the car would be hard on the transmission. J. Edgar Hoover used to ride around in an armoured Cadillac limousine and those who rode in it said it really dragged along due to all the extra weight from the armour.
It doesn’t lower when the engine’s off because it has conventional and hydraulic suspension. It’s not easier to get out of a lower car, quite the opposite. Load it up and it will self level.
they are the best cars until time and mileage adds up. they dont hold up that well over time but if you have the money, you fix them... and fix them you will.
Obviously a beautiful car, but I hate the wheels, or wheel covers. It looks like the car is missing its hubcaps, at least it looks that way in this lighting.
The vinyl roof is very unfortunate. The interior, while great in luxury, is laughable in technology. I mean the tiny, bulky TV and all that gear under it. Does it have a god damned TAPE DECK? That's really pathetic. I had a "MAgnificent 7" 1998 E 38 BMW 740iL, on which the next Gen Rolls (the Seraph) was based, and it had a tape deck too, amazingly, but also a 7 CD changer, Factory Navigation, and a ton of other stuff this car does not have. On the positive side, I like the two benches facing each other in the rear, but I would hate driving the car, with the damned partition not allowing me to adjust the driver's seat much. Frankly, if this was not Whitney Houston's ride, I would not care at all about it. ANd it must weigh more than an elephant, with all that extra weight, while the HP should be really low, as it was in all these RR engines (barely 200 HP!)
You don’t get it mate, these cars were hand built and fitted out totally to the purchasers specs, if there’s no tape deck or whatever them the purchaser didn’t require it. So your whole post rambling on about the comparison of the production built BMW where every customer gets the same is pointless, also this Rolls is built purely as a luxury limousine and not as a high performance sports sedan so the 200 hp is more than enough to move this beautiful vehicle with adequate performance. For your information, the first BMW to receive GPS was in 1994, this was the E38 7 series, which is 6 years after this car was built. Also it wasn’t until into the 90,s that flatscreen TV became available hence the bulky TV. This Rolls is 38 years old and understandingly some of the technology in it is looking very outdated now.
The mineral oil is for seperate front and rear brakes master cylinders, and not for suspension as it’s totally enclosed. I own, and have owned 12 Rolls-Royces, and you are definitely wrong. The car takes hours to lower in the rear, and not to lower to make easy to get in the car. You should learn more about what you are attempting to explain!’

ChatGPT can be informative: The Rolls-Royce badge is typically known for its black-on-silver color scheme. However, if the Rolls-Royce badge is red instead of black, it has a special significance: Historical Significance: The red badge was used on certain Rolls-Royce models in the early 20th century, specifically up until 1933. The red badge was the original color of the Rolls-Royce monogram when the company first started. Change in 1933: The company switched from the red badge to the black badge in 1933. This change was not due to the passing of co-founder Henry Royce, as some myths suggest, but rather to improve the aesthetic appeal. The black badge was found to be more versatile, blending better with a broader range of body colors. Additionally, there were concerns that the red badge clashed with some paint colors. Later Use: After the change, the red badge was used occasionally on certain bespoke or limited-edition models, but it remains rare. Today, it's more of a collector's item and a sign of an older, possibly pre-1933 Rolls-Royce. So, a red RR badge generally indicates that the vehicle is from an earlier era of Rolls-Royce or is a specially designated model.
@@robertrotterdam9....FINALLY,! Someone who knows why a red badge was taken off the car and black badges were put in its place! More and more, Rolls-Royce Was coming out with colors that did not go all that well with red but black was more universal and thus the change!!. Nothing to do with Springfield either! Did anyone else notice when he called the decanter "glass crystal"?.? Nice car just the same. I still prefer my Cloud II body style over the newer square looking models though.
The car is nice. The original owner was a superstar. She is truly missed.

I remember a pic of Whitney sitting on the hood of this car while holding lavender balloons at a party she threw for black radio stations in 1987.❤❤❤❤

That car should be forever in a museum as tribute to the greatest vocalist that ever lived.
Everyday people throw their lives away! I’ve known quite a few. May Mrs. Houston rest!

LMFAO I love the GM stereo.
I believe that Rolls-Royce licensed the hydraulic suspension from Citroen.
And ???? Ferrari. Mercedes etc all used it .
Exactly.
Correct. The Citroen DS-19 premiered at the 1955 Paris Show with full hydraulic suspension where Rolls-Royce uses it only on the rear.

True!
Great video. Thank you!
I would love to see a story on the '60 Imperial behind the Rolls.
youtube has a video on that car; it was Nelson Rockerfeller's NYC car during his governorship. search for that; great video.
Thank you! I am about to view!!!!!
Me too
The self-leveling hydraulic suspension was applied to the rear only in this model. Starting from the Spirit/Spur gas springs were also incorporated.
The hydraulic suspension, licensed from Citroen, was used only on the rear of all Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars of the period.
Thanks for sharing
I love and miss the #QueenOfPop #WhitneyHouston

It's ironic how Whitney and Diana are both dead and were both involved in bodyguard movies
Think about how much "crack is whack" was done in the back of that vehicle

Why would he not tell how much it cost new and what the current value is considering its owner----very disappointing
Why didn't you show the interior?
i read that RR makes their wood look like plastic and GM makes their plastic look like wood😂
I wonder how much input she had when ordering the car? Other than. I want a Rolls Royce limo? Did she have a hand in it or did her people order it?
No imput whatsoever. Her manager would have handled all of that. Also this luxury vehicle would have been use for tax purposes !..
All is vanity.
The Rolls is nice but that Imperial up stages it

Rear spheres need to be replaced!!! That is a Robert Jankel stretch, they did all limousine conversions for RR/Bentley. Thanks for the video!
It would be good for the presenter to get his facts correct. Nice car, shame about the information.
bit stingy with the passenger compartment shots, my man!
