I use cut off saws all the time and honestly i really thought these things are cool af. Unfortunately i am a little dissapointed at the speed of the cuts. Will this cut through rebar without dulling or damaging the chain or saw? If the saw cuts into sand below a concrete slab, will it dull or damage the chain or saw?
Hello! Thank you for your comment! The GS 461 is suitable for wet cutting concrete, natural stone and masonry. This means that the device cannot be damaged or blunt when cutting through. Unfortunately, rebar is not suitable for this product. The chain can become very blunt during use, and we therefore do not recommend it.

Hi! In order to be able to provide you with a precise comparison, we would need to know which model we are comparing the STIHL GS 461 to. The STIHL GS 461 handles like a chainsaw, but with the power of a cut-off machine. It's ideal for cutting concrete, masonry, concrete pipes and ductile cast iron pipes. But what really makes it stand out from the crowd is its impressive cutting depth, great power-to-weight ratio and ability to cut precise corners. The guide bar perfectly matches the tool and features nozzles that point forward for effectively supplying the chain with water. And the special diamond saw chain transforms the engine power into superior cutting performance.

It is possible to cut steel-reinforced concrete up to 20 mm thick. If you hit any armouring irons when cutting concrete, cutting will slow down. This behaviour is normal and you should not try to compensate for it by applying more pressure or rattling the saw.
It is not possible to use the STIHL GS 461 to cut heavily reinforced concrete with a high steel content, for example, supporting girders, pillars, foundation cages etc.

Could I just throw the bar and chain on any Stihl powerhead? Or do I have to buy this saw for it to work?
Hello Cyrus Yousefian,
thank you for your comment.
The guide bar of the concrete saw GS 461 was designed to perfectly match the tool itself. In order to cut through concrete and masonry, the saw has the unique power of a cut-off machine. Additionally, it is equipped with a water connection that serves to suppress dust, as well as to cool, clean und lubricate the bar and chain. Therefore it is not possible to use this guide bar or saw chain on any other STIHL tool.

Is the power head the same as the MS-461?
Hello Greg Miller,
Thank you for your comment.
The STIHL GS 461 was in fact developed based on the MS 461. However, it was adapted in many ways for the specific requirements of a stone cutter. This includes the bar connection 3006 exclusively for Rollomatic G Guide Bars, dust filtration, fuel cap, dust binding with water, flushing of bar and chain etc.
Best regards,
