Smoking now and it is definitely box worthy. Grabbed a bottle of Bumbu yesterday for a trip next week and almost went and popped the cork on it. I’ll just have to add 135th to the lineup for the trip.
Looked up your video while im smoking the oliva. I also think it needs a bit more age but i like the transitions. Ive also had that bumbum (or whatever) rum lol. I enjoyed it but found it to be too sweet for more than one or two pours.
How much rest would you suggest? I don’t have much patience but if it does make a difference I’ll try my best! I think I heard this cigar will be released once per year. I hope same shape!! Smoking a melanio maduro pre breakfast. So damn good with sweet coffee.
Just had a box delivered. I thought mine was a fluke. My cigars stunk so bad. Like you said a heavy lacquer/chemical smell. This has been going on for quite a while I see. They haven't addressed the issue. I emailed them and informed them about it. Thye said they will get back to me and never did. Thanks for the review.
I’m sorry to hear that as I generally enjoy the brand and haven’t had any issues until recently with them. The Room101’s that were sent out in 2023 from their factory seemed to have the same issues as well as some of the Sacrifico brand I spoke about in my Best of List last week. Quality Control is one of the most important things. Section those off in a ziplock freeze safe with a humi pack and get them out of the box if they don’t ask for it back. Mine took a few weeks but they were salvageable. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Just bought a box a few weeks back, the lacquer scent from the box paint is quite noticeable...going to take the 13 out and put them in the 'dor on their own for a month or two.
I just received a box of the 135th and boy do they smell like paint lacquer....all the way through the cigar it stinks...i can't believe Oliva would ship out a box like this...the cigars are ruined! I will never buy another Oliva product.
Good idea to revisit it. Great idea to do so with a rum from Barbados.

Definitely on the sweet side but a lot of rums have some added sugar in addition to being made from sugar can or molasses.

It worked wonders for me and every time I grab one now it is better than the last!

Yeah, I had to take them out of the box and put them in a separate freezer bag with a pack. Took a couple of months but they were smoking fine after.
