Sea Change is fantastic. Mutations, for me is #1 and this song is a good reason why. Just love the mix of goofy country sounds and serious dark pieces like this... and a tropical number? That's why I love Beck.
There are two type of Beck fans. Ones that only like the early stuff and those that like BOTH! His Mutations album and Sea Change are my Faves! I like it all.
I had to watch this video to figure out what tuning he was in on his guitar, its like C modal tuning, but I jam it on my guitar all the time now! He reminds me of Neil Young
Beck is so diverse as a recording artist and seems like he'd be a completely fascinating person. I've always loved the melancholic qualities of this song. Check out the version of this with him playing the harmonium. It'll make you cry it's so beautiful.
A fearless performer. That's what makes the great ones great.
He really puts a sincere effort into this song whenever he plays it. All heart and soul.
In the top 10 greatest songs the man ever wrote
One of his top ten songs.
This song fits me like a good glove

it's my favourite song from mutations

Lilac Belly your honesty is beautiful, Lilac.
Yeah, but a little part of it's greatness makes you smile. :)
Me too btw.
Vulnerability makes people very uncomfortable, of course that shouldn't stop you from being yourself
I wish he'd do more dark and melodic numbers like this. Sea Change is his best album, IMHO, which was the last time he pursued that direction.
Agreed. Sea Change is a masterpiece.

Beck was in a very dark place during that time period having lost his grandfather. It was his way of mourning the loss.
Update: Morning Phase ❤
That's for all of us who know better and continue on like everything's alright. "Wasted blues."
My favorite Beck offering …. his ability to drag you to the depths of despair is uncanny but an exercise in perfect songwriting.
i wouldn`t say mutations is rough, but this is a diamond.

Will do, good looking out! 🖖
There was always a weird, beautiful, droning guitar based on his early albums. Blackhole, Ramshackle, Nobodies fault ect..
envejecio mil años del 98 al 2001
