My hats off to you on how you handle and answer out of line questions. We see moments of your life and have no idea what really goes on but it is obvious just watching that all the kids do plenty and I am amazed at what a wonderful mom you actually are. Your children are productive, well behaved and good mannered. They are exactly what we need more of in our society so bless you for doing such a good job. You have a full plate and when your husband has a full time job you have to prioritize just how much you can actually do. You are great a knowing the season of life you're in and God knows also. Blessings to your whole family and thank you for sharing!!

I was the youngest of 6 kids growing up on a dirt farm. Our mother was a woman who felt she had never had an option for a different life and if she had it wouldn’t have been what it was. She was a very harsh woman but did the best she was able--we never went hungry, had a roof over our heads and learned independence very early.
You seem like a woman who enjoys your life, your choices and your family. Your children do indeed seem to be growing up enjoying their lives and developing their independence and intellect. There seems to be such a peace around there. I have seen some videos with large families that it seems the children are being forced into showing how polite or helpful they can be but their bodies are rigid as they are “spontaneous” demonstrating their positive traits to the camera. One of my favorite things about your videos is when there will be background noise because you can hear the genuineness of the children playing or talking with each other. I enjoy the fact that you balance chores, education and fun. I was surprised that you allowed games as goals but when you explained it is brilliant. So often when parents are trying to encourage goal setting it can be more like teaching them how to achieve things when you don’t want to do them. And with the way you set up chores they are learning the value and joy of working together instead of resenting everything that is expected of them which later results in rejection of the lifestyle as they grow older. Wish I would have had the parenting wisdom you demonstrate when my children were growing up.

I so wish people would stop being negative and judgmental towards you! You seem to be totally in control of your family and have extremely independent and well behaved children. I dont think anyone could ask any more of any of you! I love watching your family go through your days. Thanks for sharing another great day with us!

Been missing your videos!!! I hard boil my eggs this way: put a stainless steel colander inside my largest stock pot, add an inch or so of water to the bottom, stack as many eggs as I can fit, add a lid that’s tilted a tiny bit for steam to escape, boil for 20 minutes & it’s done! That recipe was from Jill Winger’s cookbook & UA-cam channel. Works like a charm!

Ok, here is the hard boiled egg fix! I do them in the instant pot. I usually do 24 eggs at a time. But you can do up to about 30. I do the 5/5/5 method. I do them in the stainless mesh colander that is made for the instant pot. I use the instant pot constantly! It makes perfect jellied bone broth in a jiffy!! Your roasts stay moist and fall apart in a very short amount of time. I am not kidding, you NEED 1 of these. It will replace your egg steamer and your crockpot. You can make a pot of pinto beans in a flash also! Look into this appliance...you will love it as much as I do!

I’m so glad you aren’t influenced by those who question your parenting practices… you ALL seem to have a very healthy idea of what a sense of family is… besides, it’s no ones business and I think it’s gracious of you to answer them… I was raised the same… I’m very grateful I was able to be a kid! It’s SO important to feel a part of the family by participation in whatever capacity, school takes a lot of time and brainwork, and you gotta be able to be a kid somewhere in there!!! I had horses also as friends, my dogs too, plus I raised baby orphaned animals too. I’m very very grateful…

We add a little acv to the water when hard boiling and that seems to help. I actually started doing that one time because I knew I was hardboiled one that had gotten cracked and I read if you put a little acv in there they won't explode their shell(which it really is true!) But I also noticed that *most* of our farm fresh eggs were easier to peel as well.

You have such a beautiful family and your children seem wonderful and I hope you all have lots of fun this year visiting other farmers in your area at the market. I’m sorry to hear about your apple tree, here in Missouri the same happened and I hope the peach trees we have here will be ok, this is my first year here and growing a garden so it’s a learning opportunity for me and my kids. We have that bee board book, too. 🥰 My daughter loves it! Quick note on an ice cream idea, and I'm not sure it works for GAPS, but we do frozen bananas blended in the blender with coconut milk. It makes a dreamy, rich soft serve type frozen treat. Kind of unbelievably good for how simple it is. We get our bananas by the 40 pound case and freeze them once they start getting pretty spotty and that's what we use for our "ice cream". Love your channel! 💖

You egg breakfast is also called a Finnish pancake. Yes, it does need sugar. We put sliced bananas and strawberries with their juice (from a little sugar stirred into them and letting it set or thaw frozen strawberries that were already sugared). We top it off with whipped cream, but you could use your dairy substitute. My family loves this!!!

That sounds like a nifty appliance for your eggs:-) For some reason I never have a problem peeling our eggs. I can have them straight from the coop, and they still peel easily. Maybe it's the method I use? I don't know, but anyhow, I just fill a big pot about 3/4 way with water and bring to a boil. Place your eggs into the boiling water, and set your timer for 10 minutes as the water comes back to a boil. As soon as the timer goes, dump out that boiling water and immediately cover eggs with cold tap water. You can just let the water run and overflow. I usually start peeling the eggs right away. Hope this helps you make huge batches of boiled eggs!

Instant Pot for boiled eggs. I pressure cook them (as many as I want) in my metal steaming basket for 1 minute on low pressure and then do a quick release into a water ice bath (as I don't like hard green yokes, but soft custardy-centers). Peel like a dream even without a water bath.Love it for rice, 1 minute white rice (basmati or jasmine) on high pressurecook and 3 minutes for brown rice. I let rice naturally release, or at least wait 5 minutes before quick releasing top vent. Cooks frozen chicken thighs in 15 minutes (then crisp on grill). Love my Instant Pots...have two...one does roasts, whole ham or 3 racks of ribs. Easy peasy. Know you said no more gadgets needed, but this Mama to 8 says 'yes please' to my Instant Pot. Also make broths, soups...

PS we're drowning in eggs too, so I'm trying to make lots of quiche with things from the freezer to use up (including sourdough starter I made in to crusts to use up), and preserving the eggs I can with your waterglassing method. So you could say your pantry challenge is inspiring our household heavily even if we're doing it at a different time. :)

How do you plan out your garden? I'm aways stuck on this and feel overwhelmed, it happens every year.
I wanted to add, your channel has been a huge blessing. I get anxiety and lately it's been bad for me. I watch your channel and it's an escape for a little while, so thank you

I so enjoyed ths vide. I have 6 children so I understand. I once read an article by a college professor no less that stated that people had large families because they were lazy. I about split a guy. That was so funny to me. I enjoy your life and the way you think. Keep up the good work.

That is hilarious. Why would I keep making more work for myself if I was lazy? 😂

I remember back in the 70's a woman used to make eggnog ice cream. The children would drink eggnog once daily too.

Do you have an instant pot? You can do 2 dozen or more eggs easily. And my FFeggs peel easily. You could pickle some eggs....
Your boys nodding along as you talked about the distribution of work cracked me up.
I just loved your response... "I don't want to".

I second this about the instant pot. FF eggs peel perfectly and I can do so many at once!
