WP ULTIMATE m. OS MAX 46 FXi Graupner 9380.MX The ULTIMATE is an aerobatic biplane developed from the Pitts Special. Kits were made available, and in 1985 the first kit-built ULTIMATE took to the skies. Our model is capable of a full aerobatic schedule in the hands of a skilful pilot. The model is of conventional all-wood built-up construction, and all the major components including fuselage, wing panels, tailplane, fin and wing struts are supplied ready-made and film-covered, while the GRP cowl, wheel spats and aluminium undercarriage are factory-painted. To complete the model all you have to do is glue the fin and tailplane in place, and install the motor and RC system. The rudder and elevator are actuated using the proven Direct-Steel-System (DSS). Two servos are installed in the bottom wing, actuating all four ailerons: the top and bottom ailerons are inter-linked by means of pushrods, which can be disconnected for transportingthe model. The wing struts are attached to the wings by means of ball-links. With any of the recommended motors the model has plenty of power to perform a superb aerobatic schedule.
Clear assembly instructions in German, English and French. Fuselage, wing panels, tailplane and struts ready-made and film-covered, pre-painted GRP cowl, wheel fairings and main undercarriage unit, canopy, fueltank, wheels, tailwheel unit, small items, linkage hardware pack.
    Rudder, coupled tailwheel

    Wingspan approx. 1065 mm
    Overall length approx. 1130 mm

We have discovered later when Captain Blaž brought the plane back that in fact it was signal loss again. We will film soon a video on our runway where we will test a few different recievers with a few different radios and see once and for all the range on our runway and what to use in the future. Should be pretty interesting. Thanks to all for stopping by here, for all your comments and for all support. After crash quick review on Thursday. Stay safe.

My Flysky has A " Spectrum Anylizer" it shows interference and WiFi signals. We have a spot where the Wifi interference affect the signal. Maybe you Frsky has one 👍 Salute

I'm looking forward for this video. I'm very curious as to what is causing the signal loss. I have a spectrum transmitter and would like to know if it is the cause of the signal loss. Waiting patiently for a video on this.

Was the light in the orange receiver blinking when you looked at the plane? Just curious if it had a brownout.. Really sorry you had this crash. That bisexual plane was beautiful.

      Hey Guys!
I have been having the exact same issue with my flying field in London UK, I tried so many different radio systems, Futaba, Orange, Frsky, Hobbyking, in the end it turns out that it is 5G.
      2.4g is no good.
My background is Electronic, Electro, Mechanical engineering.
5G is Too powerful or too loud,
Even if it is on a different frequency, it's making so much frequency noise That your 2.4g TX and RX can not hear each other.
I lost 5 planes last year.
In the end I bought the Frsky R9 868mhz System.
      And that worked for me.
Also 5G is like a laser beam, or a light beam, meaning it is very directional, hence the reason the plane always come down in the same spot.
Searching the internet to find someone with the same problem was no good, but they are rolling out 5G to everyone and sadly you will start to see a lot more of this problem.
I was pulling my hair out trying to figure it out because everyone said that it is not supposed to happen. But trust me it is 5G and it is happening.
If you need any links to what equipment I bought, let me know and I can send you some helpful links
      Cheers Guys
      Thank you for the videos
      Best Regards

I had the very same problem when a telephone mast appeared at the edge of my field , last stop was graupner hott transmitter and receiver.... and it was a game changer for my flying. I use an mz-12 pro and can fly over and around the mast with my grand tundra lol. RIP graupner!!🙈

I really love watching you guys,as you two were meant to be together like ying and yang , but I’m very sorry to see your pains of losing the plane especially after Captain Blaz did all that wonderful work to it and was having such a good flight , I totally agree with the fact that there’s definitely a signal loss in that exact area, it’s just like my cellphone loses it connection only in this one particular spot, but if I move 2 feet in any direction it’s back to full signal, it’s definitely a heart breaking feeling to watch such a beauty take such a crash because of something very unnecessary and shouldn’t have ever happened !! Hopefully she will fly again !! Keep up the Great Work and Vids !! 👍👍

Any light you can shed on the mystery would be very useful.I have had a few failures with orange park fly receivers, but usually nothing more than a momentary loss of control at extreme range. It might be something to do with the stubby antenna of the D.X.8,particularly if you inadvertantly point the tip of the antenna at the model.Obviously the motor cut when signal loss occurred,it would not be easy to recover even if the signal was recovered.Believe me,Ultimates glide like loaded bricks!

Hello, I have two notes for you regarding signal loss.
First, as a test, you two, one holds the radio and the other walks with the model airplane in his hands to see how far he will lose the signal.
Second, if the receiver's antennas are hidden inside the cockpit, that may be the problem, try to leave the antennas right outside, and keep them as far away from the engine as possible.
    good flights for us all.

Your antenna on your transmitter is positioned horizontal, with the tip to the left. That means that there is a blind spot of the transmittersignal at your right. That is maybe the reason that you lost the signal on the right, when you fly far to the right.
It is maybe better to position the antenna of the transmitter vertical upwards.

I would highly recommend to do a range check. Walk your plane over that area that you get signal loss, while the transmitter stays where you fly and film your beautiful fun videos and see where you start getting the signal loss. Check where are antennas near by and investigate if they cross paths with the signal loss area. Good luck

So sorry to see that Captain Blaz, maybe try pointing the antenna of the transmitter vertically instead of sideways? Maybe it will help? Good luck figuring out what's going on at your field gentlemen. Sorry again. Salute from USA.

Ah Blaz, I feel for you. Those Orange receivers with the long aerials at 90 degrees are very good. I have no problems with Spektrum/Orange as long as the aerials are well positioned. For quads, I use Frksy (R9 and 2.4) as Spektrum is rubbish with the carbon frames. At my old flying club we had a 'black hole' area where a 2.4 signal was sometimes lost, regardless of manufacturer of TX/RX. It appeared it was something military possibly causing it but the issue was never resolved. I look forward to the range test video.

Sorry for your loss. I am sure you guys will sort it out. I am sure there are lots of things that can contribute to signal loss. I have lost planes, crashed cars and damaged boats due to issues with different radio systems that worked perfectly in the same area for a long time. I don't think brand bashing helps anyone as any system can have problems and won't help someone that just crashed their plane feel any better. Good luck sorting it out and cheers from Sydney, Australia

Blaz, so sorry for the loss. I have a newer DX 8g2 and so far haven’t lost one to brown-out. I had an ultimate that looked similar. Motor flamed out on takeoff and it busted in half on the landing. I have another ultimate , a Seagull .90-.120 Waiting to be finished. One day.

Telemetry is your friend :-) Just need the right receiver. You can see the condition of the signal while you are doing your range check. Someone holds your plane in the portal of doom while you see whats going on :-)

Hopefully the damage isnt too bad, maybe you can rebuild. I blame 2.4. I have had nothing but problems with 2.4 since I got back into flying. Currently working towards getting another 72mhz RX on my old channel.

robert and blaz i have hitec radio and for me is bullet proof , but the other month or more back i was flying and was not that far but was high and climbing all of a sudden nothing everything froze for around 3 seconds then came back , i shit myself i thought its all over but i got signal back and landed straight away , now i have flown two morw times since that but stayed so close it was not much fun , so i am convinced there is something "NEW" that is interfeeing with the 2.4 GHZ Throughout all of the ranges of it yes could be this 5G but cant be certain, so now i got the ezio glider to do some testing for hight and long range 100-350 meters away unlesss there is some new sattilltes thats sending conflicting signals down to earth and we fly straight through it causing loss of singnal and battery to also could have droped as a result and caused brown out where the reciever shuts down this information ive seen on rc forums and many many pilots are having same problem , to be honest i think this is being done on purpose to stop the use of fpv and drones as many many other experts are saying but i just read everything and make my own judgements as im no expert but i know when something is fishy and not normal my reciever is optima7 hitec with telemetry Flash7 one of the best cheap radios of all tine and also have had similare signal losses in the past but cuolpe years back with futaba 6 channel , one other thing i read is if the servo is drawing too much amps more than 1.5 this can cause bec to come on but i found that only on electro models form some youtuber but should not have effected nitro planes unless the battery came loose or died as has damaged cells i never use lipo for reciever power on glow planes always nmhi 2200mha and always fully charged , hope some this info helps so sad to see this model hit the deck like that and to see you guys disapointed after so much effort goes in ,cheers from me salute,

Sorry for your loss, Captain Blaž and Pilot Robert; such a pity!
Your flying field appears to be fairly far removed from everything, yet there’s apparently a sporadic 2.4GHz signal out there that’s comparable or greater in strength to your transmitter that’s causing the receiver to enter the “fail-safe“ mode; it shut down the Saito and held the surfaces at neutral, flying the Ultimate Biplane into the ground.
    Weird.

Oh Captain Blaz! You looked so happy to be flying a IC engined plane. So sorry.
I agree with a comment from another post about your antenna angle. The signal emits from the sides of the antenna to probably 80 - 85 degrees towards the tip, the signal getting less power towards the tip. So you have a dead zone directly in line with the tip. Try turning the Tx antenna so it points vertically. I have had signal loss for exactly the same reasons, so I feel the pain.
There is probably some tight beam microwave transmitter signal for a cell network crossing the land in that area, that the weak signal from your transmitter cannot overcome. I notice there is a comms tower on the top of the mountain, so something may be transmitting to that.

I have been using the newer Turnigy i6 tx ($50) and turnigy/flysky 6ch dual antenna receivers ($10) and have not had one glitch, even at places where it's normally bad. I also have the newer version Turnigy 9x which also uses the dual antenna receivers and had no issues with that one either, where my older 9x and flysky 6ch and spektrum have had signal issues. They are both so cheap they may be worth a try.

I think that spot out there is a portal to hell. Very sad to see this one come down so hard. Perhaps the military is running strong radar through that valley and is in that area blocking out weaker signals like from the RC control unit. Salute to you both! Captain Blaz, stay positive my friend.
