It took me years to learn the name of one of the songs at 7:00. I could hum it, but never knew the name. I will never forget it. Such an American Classic. SIMPLE GIFTS
Idk why but I really love the alto saxophone in this piece.
We’re playing this song at my middle school, I’m an alto sax in symphonic band😃
my middle school is playing the same thing lol. we are probably in the same middle school idk.
I played all 4 of these in high school, and it was amazing. Still love all 4 of these
Richard Floyd was my junior high band director in 1962, 63, and 64. (Richardson Junior High School in Richardson, Texas.) A demanding task-master. But he was the first person to introduce me to the idea of doing a job well, to the concept of what quality means: How to measure it and how to know if you've attained it. What he taught me shaped my life. His values helped me achieve some of the highest goals attainable in the two professions I pursued later in my life, the second of which I'm still pursuing full-bore. Richard Floyd's intellectual and aesthetic influence guides me every day of my life. And I'm 71 years old. He's a very special individual indeed.
Playing movements 1 and 4 for our concert band MPA. A wonderful selection of songs, fun to play and pleasing to listen to. I loved listening to this.
We played the second movement at a camp I went to this summer.
My school performed this at Disney a few months ago...and I kinda failed that trumpet solo🥲
I have also messed that exact solo as well. It's weird, the one other trumpeter I asked said he had also messed up this solo as well. It looked so simple, but I swear it's cursed.
Nice
Hey
rush at 6:00
im playing this and im only in eight grade
@@calebcoale896 There can be different arrangements of the piece which decreases or increases the difficulty LOL
I am also playing this song and I am in middle school, I am the solo flute and I am so excited!
Isn’t Live Performance Wonderful? Near the end of the first movement the lights went out on the stage for a brief time. A startling, unexpected moment but we persevered.
