3 year old DEAD mini ecosphere revival
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 бер 2021
- After three years, the mini ecosphere has completely dried up. All plants algae and animal inside the small closed ecosystem have died. In this update video we refill the dead mini ecosphere with water to try and see if we can revive it. Maybe new algae and animals will reappear.
Enjoy!

This video is a little bit more in the style of my older videos, I hope you liked it!
i was hoping it WAS one of your older videos so that I could check to see if animal life emerged!
Yes I did!
As for the 300000 sub celebration activity: maybe just make a new ecosphere? Maybe from another location, a puddle in the forrest or some brackish environment or such?
I love your videos!
Yes i really did and for the 300k i suggest a livestream in which u build an ecosystem in front of us i know that it probably will take a long time, lots of driving but i think its a good idea😁👊
Is jartopia you'rs to? And i think you're not english deu to you're speech i think you're dutch pwease respond
I've been following Life in Jars for most of the Covid season :) I started two in August, 2020 which quickly became opaque with algae. So I started a third, this time with paired magnets, about 1cm diameter, inside and outside, so I can scrape the inside of the jar and keep a window clear. I have it below a window beside my bed and watch it most every night. Thanks for all your posts!
Probably a win that the type of people who like your content are not the same kind of people that want to see you drink an ecosphere.
I kinda wanna see it now
I drank from an ecosphere and have not gotten any parasites. Just some flu like symptoms for a few weeks.
@@bluesap7318 dude why lmao
@@gfyourself for science hahaha
Now I do 😅
You know it's a small space when a single copepod dying is enough to cause a mass extinction.
Idea for the special: Mix two ecospheres together into one and call it "the conjunction of the spheres" like in the witcher :D
(sure, mix them together but like not two of the already ongoing ones, some new ones, I think) also LMAO yes, I want the witcher but with ecospheres!
Wait for a long time. Make each jar different. That way it will be as though they are in a new world.
Then put it in the freezer so it succumbs to the White Frost.
I remember in a super old update about this, you pointed out a culture of anaerobic bacteria in the soil and I thought it was so cool lol
maybe for the 300k, you could do the opposite of the mini ecosphere, a giant ecosphere
I agree, great suggestion.
Or a tiny ecosphere
HOLY I thought the jar was way bigger until he put his hands on it it’s incredible what you can do with such small things
The fact it's been a year since your comment and nobody has replied, "that's what she said", is honestly amazing to me.
Suggestions: combine some material from several ecospheres into one jar.
M E G A J A R
fight of the ecospheres! who will win? who will die or survive when 2 worlds collide.
"I said I was going to do something, but since I am a lazy bum... I did not"
Story of my life
Making an insanely big ecosphere would be really cool for the 300,000 special. Like a 55 gallon Barrel or something.
PS glad you're not drinking in ecosphere.
I'd love to see an ecosphere with just a small blob of soil from a river, and the rest of the jar filled with water and soil that's been filtered and boiled for a while... a little bit of potential life expanding into a sterile environment.
I don't think aquatic animals can live in boiled water. At least I know for a fact that aquarium fish can't.
this is such a neat idea!!
@@spugintrntl I think he meant to cool the water down after boiling.
@@anthonymorris6312 either way, it still kills them. There's not enough oxygen dissolved in the water after boiling for them to breathe. At least I think that's why it kills fish.
EDIT: I googled it and yeah, it's lack of dissolved oxygen. He'd have to let it sit or for a few days before it was safe to use again.
@@spugintrntl he could run an aquarium pump on it for a few days before, that's one of the reasons people get aquarium pumps in the first place.
For the 300k sub special miniaturize yourself and live in one of your ecospheres for 300,000 seconds. Or how about a live stream with Q&A if the whole miniaturizing yourself thing is too complicated to figure out. :)
Nah, he can just make a life-sized ecosphere instead
@@naidoeshacks i love this life sized ecosphere idea. how about a 20 story ecosophere with a balcony on each floor and a slide from the penthouse to the bottom :P
the miniaturizing concept also has legit potential!!! he could film himself on a greenscreen and then layer the video on a very zoomed it ecosphere, i think that'd be very charming
Kinda the reverse of that other video with a man and a jar.
you mean biosphere 2 by himself?
For the special, you should film yourself exploring a cave and collecting water and plants and create an ecosphere from that. Perhaps there will be different critters?
There aren't many caves in the Netherlands. :p
Your videos are so captivating. I haven't built an ecosphere in years but still watch with a lot of interest. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos!
For the 300k special: maybe you could show some ecospheres from your subscribers/ the community. (if there are any with documentations)
this is such a neat idea!!
@@Nepeta-Leijon yeah someone called V had a similar idea. Sadly i saw it after commenting. They even came up with a great name. *Subscriber* *ecosphere* *review*
Even though i dont do ecospheres myself i would love to see some made by the Community.
I think we feel like life in jars these days. The revival seems a good theme. Work that little bottle into a bigger free-er new start after the big tribulation.... I don't know. It just felt good to think of that little bottle like the Phoenix.✌
"I will immediately update you."
Just like you immediately sealed the jar 3 years ago... 😜
:o
You should have put a wax seal on top. That way you could be sure the bottle was sealed.
I'd like to see a super sized ecosphere. Maybe 5 gallons or so.
300K subscriber special: mixing two established ecospheres together. Your choice.
I can't wait to see the 30 year old update 😍 I wonder how it will looks like in 2051 🥰
300k Special Idea: Make a 300,000 ml Ecosphere. You could get a 300 liter (or 80 gallon) tank and seal it shut with a panel of plastic.
Granted, this would take up a lot of room and be incredibly difficult to move safely as it would weigh around 300kg (Nearly 700 lbs). However, it would definitely be pretty special. Each of us viewers could be one milliliter in your tank.
Pretty sure the saying goes “when life gives you dead ecospheres, you make newecospherenade”
This is very cool, it’s like an alien landscape in there. I love your “try it” approach to these eco spheres. I think you should throw a party showing all your critters boogieing down as they do, with you joining in. Congrats on your much deserved channel growth.🖤🇨🇦
I love it! When the quarantine start last year I try a ecosystem in a jar inspired by your videos and mine is going really well I have plants and even small snails. I used to take my breakfast looking at the jar it is so calming. Thanks so much for inspiring me and sorry for my English 😆
Your old style videos are the best! 😃
Welcome back to the land of the living, ecosphere.
I love your content! Please keep making these!!!
hope it comes back! one of my jars from last summer looks extinct as well, but instead of adding water, i opened it and cut back overgrowth. hope life comes back in both of our jars. i found there’s not too much material online about reviving ecosphere
I would suggest make a super sized jar exosphere but in some sort of clear glass gigantic bottle.
thanks for the update nd cool video bud. love your videos
Thankyou for not drinking an ecosphere 💚How about take a probiotic for your own ecosphere special? 😁
Looking forward to next update
Yay new video!
I think maybe a themed terrarium would be a great idea as a subscriber count special. You could recycle old materials like bricks etc to maybe look like an apocalyptic scene with plants growing through concrete etc
Keep it up. Great stuff and inspirational to some, I’m sure
Fascinating!
Ecosphere within an ecosphere within an ecosphere within an ecosphere in a nice aquarium.
for the special a montage of all the different living creatures in al of the jars
so glad that the watchers are a good bunch of people who are more amused about ecospheres than people drinking stuff that makes you sick
for the special you should design a tiny castle to put into one of your ecospheres so that once algae takes over it, it'll look like a drowned forgotten city ohhh so mysterious!!!
idea for a special: gradually expose a freshwatter ecosfere to small amounts of salt every week and see what organisms survive
for 300k subs you should build a terrarium/ecosphere and plant a tree seedling. you can call it the treecosphere.
Why would ANYBODY give this a thumbs down?! You almost never open an ecosphere and this was for good reason. It's fascinating under the microscope as well. I guess there will always be critics.
Mr Jars? Nice to see you again :)
Suggestion: make an ecosphere out of a waterbed.
Do one where you have different ecospheres / jars in different situations (in the light, in the shade, cold outside, hot inside, lots of dirt, few dirt, ect) but they are all connected by either water or air by tubes. Then see how the critters and plants diversify or migrate to certain areas of the ecosphere.
I think a near boiling ecosphere could be interesting, basically keep a jar at around 65-70C and see what kinds organisms can survive. (DNA gets destroyed past 75C) I figure since life can survive near hydrothermal vents, surely there should surface species with higher tolerances. Congrats on the 300k!
Great video, reminiscent of the really old ones.
For 300k you could do something about Temperature related ecosphere; like how much slower a colder sphere develop compare to a room temperature or tropical temperature one and/or what organism prosper in each example. I know logistically it would be a little nightmare but i'm just throwing ideas out.
Keep up the great work
It's a happy day man!🤩
I just suggested this on another video but I'd love to see an ecosphere in a terrarium like you made the ecosphere in an ecosphere! That way it'd potentially prevent the ecosphere inside from being unviewable due to algae
Dude, that same cork thing happened to me with one of my moss ones.
Yay! I love your videos
2:42 looks like a semi-dried earwax, interesting.
You should create a decent size ecosphere and add some slightly bigger creatures like a small crab or something along those lines
I love when your videos dont appear in my recommended or my subscription feed despite being subscribed too you.
That's great isn't it
I love the Cyclops their are common but cool
for the 300 special I think you should seal yourself in a big ecosphere
For your 300K subscriber special you should try to make a large ecosphere with a small ecosphere inside of it!
you should do a vlog for your 300k sub special- maybe visit a local forest or any sort of natural landscape and provide commentary on the native species and ecological phenomena
Hello there
Two jars joined with a midway tube with a sealing butterfly valve. Two different environments which after a year or so you open the corridor and ? Just a suggestion.
That seems super cool
Redo the 420 sub ecosphere
I think I might save that for the 420000 subscriber special!
I know this is a common type of suggestion but what if you did do a larger ecosphere with bigger animals or even cooler if you had part land part water. Like back when the seacosphere had a crab in it I was thinking it would be really cool if there were a long term crab population there but in a larger one that would be really cool.
300K idea - a flat ecosphere - take something like an ant colony tank, or just join a few pieces of plexiglass to make the "tank" only a few inches deep.
Alternatively drink a sphere bro.
Drinking a sphere could cause several health problems, so maybe just your first idea
It's been this long already? Wow!
Goin full screen baby! 🇨🇦✌️
As an alternative you could eat an ecosphere, or boil it and drink it or use it as a dressing for a Vallisneria salad or mix an ecosphere with some good old whisky, make some futuristic ostracod kabobs as a side. Mix all your ecospheres together into one gigantic ecosphere, send all your subscribers a drop of your ecosphere so we can drink it ourselves. Buy a hamster, adopt a bonsai kitten, make some pickles. Invite some boogie worms.
Brilliant
You should do another brackish set up!
Maybe you could purchase a very large and decorative jar? Like an old victorian style, make a huge ecosphere.
For the 300K special, you could just take us to the nateure and talk abou whatever you see. Getting to know the nature of your country would be surely interesting for you international viewers.
It is awesome :)) I'm so fascinated. May I ask you what kind of microscope you use?
New viewer here, I was wondering how you plan to seal your jars to be airtight? Maybe for your special, you could have a big, huge tank. So it could have the maximum chance of diversity in it.
You should try doing a low light exosphere. See how low of a light level you can have and keep the ecosystem somewhat alive.
I would love to see another big temporary ecosphere, like you did with the brine water ecosphere that caught all the fish.
[music] [applause] [music] i agree closed captioning, I agree
I thought this was a large jar, it's so tiny wow
Would have been cool to put some distilled water in it and cap it immediately, but this method is interesting too.
So far, Its looking like everyone wants to see a GIANT ecosphere! Im with that crowd.. I want to see something quite large, like 55 gal (208L), completely sealed off self-sustaining ecosystem! With maybe snails and shrimp..
Idea for your 300k sub special: 24 hour livestream on UA-cam of setting up and then watching a new ecosphere
problem with that is most of it would be watching the murky water swill about before settling. A 24/7 live stream of ecospheres could get him some serious following though
And a big aquarium so more life can develop
If you want an idea for subscriber benchmark - maybe using a science lab (do you have access to one from your classes?) to help you look at the difference in water between an ecosphere that has been sealed up a long time vs fresh - like what levels of nitrogen or uh... chemicals... (I am not scientist) in it. Or microscopic life differences you can't see with your microscope. I think that'd be interesting too. You might find out it was a great idea to not drink it, or you might find it was perfectly safe.
Create a small Walstad style nano tank for your 300,000 subscriber special.
It looks just like the sauerkraut I had for lunch .Delicious! 2:50
Maybe make an ecosphere from a dry area
I live in the Mojave Desert and a friend of mine used to always say the desert can be the greenest place it just needs a little more water
If you water a square foot it’ll grow
You could create a small jar pond water terrarium and sink it inside a larger pond water terrarium.
hey bro. try growing some triops. they are so cool
A polarising filter might help with reflections.
I’d like to see a closed ecosystem with a high oxygen environment
For 300k sub, subscriber ecosphere review? I'm sure people might have some interesting stuff in different environments.
Alternatively, show your full collection/storage :)
I support the ecosphere review! :)
Isn't it always the way? You think "I really need to do this thing". But then you just kind of don't? Happens all the time.
For the 300k subscriber special i would like you to just throw a party in a public park or something and let your subscribers come and meet you... I'm in Italy, and I'd probably make the trip.
Yes notificationsquad boy????? Why am I confused
You should make an ecosphere with the play button in it when you get the next one
It would have been better to use distilled water but this is still really cool.
Rollie pollie farm and update announcement would be amazing 300k special
I am sorry if this has been asked before. What camera do you use to film the close up shots of the creatures in the jars?
I use my phone with a clip on macro lens and _a lot_ of patience
I would really like a Q&A for the 300k subs
For the special: adopt a new crab.
You should make a big fancy ecosphere
make a GIANT LARGEST HUGE HUUUUGE closed ecosphere
Please don’t drink an ecosphere without a life straw or something similar. Or better yet, don’t drink it at all!
I’d love to see a really big sealed ecosphere using something like one of those huge 1 gallon wine brewing carafes or something.
Do you know if it failed originally because of its size or just because it dried out
