The style of the song is completely different from Seven, it reminds me of Backstreet boys songs, which is nice. I don't care if the lyrics offend anyone, JK is a free artist and can make whatever music he wants, just like the other BTS members. My bias is the rap line, but I'm glad JK has achieved such success.
I really like the song, im seeing a lot of people complain about jack's verse and I've noticed that a lot of it comes from misinterpretation. Most dont listen to rap or arent a part of black culture to get certain references, which is fine but at least ask for the meaning of phrases and be willing to be corrected. Are there certain things that can be seen as problematic? Yes but most of the things people have an issue with is due to a lack of context. I think people saw certain words and phrases and took them completely out of context without caring to understand the entire verse. Btw i should mention that its absolutely fine to not like his verse, i found it corny, but dislike it for things that were actually said and not out of context phrases.
the only problem i see is that "abg" thing, really? in a song where, ironically, the main artist is asian? there could be something that I don't understand idk but it's kinda off for me

The lyrics of this should be dissected as much as butter and dynamites are lol they’re not made to be dissected… just fun catchy bops… nostalgia just for the late 90s 2000s…. It’s really not that deep lol the initial rap started okay but was just kinda comedic and playful that got taken way out of context which is okay… I love the song and the sound and the dance… oof the dance practice really hit different… it’s sexy af
Hi Austin, always enjoy your reactions & commentary. FYI ….. there is an alternate version without Jack Harlow & his verses. Also, they released the choreo video as well. Fantastic. The four female dancers in the introduction are from Jam Republic and are involved in Koreas Street Woman Fighters series where they compete against other female dance groups. They are all great dancers. Like you I didn’t think Jack Harlow’s verses fit. You can sing & rap about sexual content in words & mannerisms that don’t make you cringe. 3D’s musical beat, range & sound complimented JK’s vocal creativity & abilities & his verses were expressed in such a way that was fun, flirty & tempting.
Jack’s part honestly made me uncomfortable & I didn’t appreciate how he was sort of objectifying & commodifying women. Also the ABG comment was weird (in a bad way- look up the definition), there was no female Asian representation in the mv and Jack’s lyrics didn’t seem very well written. I love the instrumental music tho & the chorus has been stuck in my head constantly lol I will only be streaming the alternate version (which does not include Jack’s part at all). Have a great day Sir Austin! 💜
How was he objectifying and commodifying women? And while I don't agree with the abg line and it isn't my place to speak on whether or not someone should be offended, Jack isn't in charge of casting. Also many people don't know the history behind abg and think it basically means and Asian "baddie". An Asian fan was the one who told him that he could call her that, she even posted the video on tik tok
@@karlafrancis8471I don't like his feature that much but even before that fan published that video I thought he was using the acronym on a positive light, because he's a TikTok dude and in that app, it's an "aesthetic" hashtag and it doesn't have any negative connotation
@@MarinaEariel I don't really like it either cuz it's kinda corny. People were also upset because there were no Asian women in the mv when he said it. He's not responsible for casting... No, but to make it seem like he intentionally did it to offend people, especially after we found out he was educated wrongly, isn't ok.
ABG = Asian Baby Girls. Not a Jack Harlow's fan but I liked his verse, just the counting girls to end it on the 4th girl by saying you just a man whore was a pointless part for me.

Oh dear. Many people are uncomfortable with the JH rap part and i think we should rely on our icky gut feelings. It's misogynistic and potentially racist. Referencing ABG's (fetishises Asian women) and thots is so disrespectful to women. The dead body part, showing his friends... it's the opposite of sexy. I have no problem with JK singing about sex but if he didn't realise it himself someone in his team should have called out the misogyny in the rap and stopped this from going public. Such a shame after RM and the boys were educated about writing lyrics about women from a more respectful point of view. I think more people will listen to the alternative version without the rap.
The dead body part was referring to himself. In the music video you can see him stepping over a body that's a replica of him. And the come look is a reference to the movie "boys in the hood". An Asian fan told him what abg was, in this case an Asian baddie, and told him that he could call her that, she even posted a tiktok as proof. Does that make it right? No but that's what he was told by a fan. The whole verse is a critique on himself and how he used to treat his relationships with women that's why it's in past tense. Even the part where he was counting women, he begins it by saying 'now when he holds hands it's a new story" meaning he's not like that anymore. And then he proceeds to call himself a wh0re and loose because he used to sleep with a lot of women. We don't need a think piece on every single release. Its a fun pop song. You don't like it, listen to the other version. Simple.
This rap is extremely tame compared to most raps. And I'm going to be extremely honest here, I've yet to see a black person complain about the verse. And I've only seen kpop stans complain about it.
