- The debate surrounding circumcision is literally older than the bible. It is considered the world's oldest planned surgical procedure, pre-dating recorded history.
In today’s video I will not settle this debate, but I will provide you with medical argument for and against circumcision. It is up to you to draw your own conclusions based on all available evidence.

The Circumcision
In this procedure the foreskin is removed. In first world countries it all starts with a doctors appointment. Your doctor will explain the risks and benefits of the procedure. Afterwards the procedure can be planned.
Fast forward to the day of the procedure. The first step is disinfecting. Afterwards an anesthetic will be injected. Next the foreskin is extended with forceps, afterwich the foreskin is excised.
Afterward, it will be covered with an ointment, containing antibiotic and/or petroleum jelly, and it will be bandaged. The procedure generally takes about 10-20 minutes.
When to contact your doctor?
It is important to contact your doctor if you can’t pee within 12 hours after the circumcision, if you experience persistent bleeding or if you experience a wound infection.
Why preform a circumcision?
Circumcision is associated with reduced rates of sexually transmitted infections, urinary tract infections and it decreases the risk on a rare type of penile cancer. In addition it is also a treatment option for cases of phimosis and chronic urinary tract infections.
Beside medical reasons there are often religious, cultural, ethical, and social motives for a circumcision.

It saddens me to realize that illiterate tribal people in Africa had more sense than my university educated American parents, who probably spent 5 whole seconds deliberating before blindly consenting on behalf of their newborn male child who didn't even know his own name yet... I will forever have serious doubts about our society and all it stands for.
Circumcision on kids is mutilation, imho should be a crime unless needed.
Says a lot that the female equivalent of circumcision is called genital mutilation.
What has always bothered me is doing it for religious reasons…. If God is so powerful and wise like religious folk claim, why would he create man in his image just for you to change that…..

I'm no expert, but I was told of the following. During WW2 the Nazis used circumcised males to identify them as Jewish. Moving forward, after the war, there were a lot of Jewish Doctors and they started to circumcise everyone so that they could never again be identified this way should such a circumstance occur again. If this is correct, then is this right? I don't think so. It is mutilation in my opinion and if Jewish people do it as part of their religious practices that's fine, but it shouldn't be forced on non Jewish people. It's been made the norm in hospitals since that time. You are right, if God made us that way, then who are we to change that? The foreskin was meant to protect for obvious reasons. One just has to keep it clean. I see no practical reason for circumcision.

The only time it's okay to circumcise someone is when they are an adult with informed consent.
Even the parents who think they're giving consent to this procedure are not informed 99% of the time.
Why? I did it when i was 4 grade, now my son already did it in his 3 year old, easy, in 1 week his recovery.

But at some point the cycle of trauma needs to stop.
Circumcision is simply a procedure where the risks far outweigh the benefits.
When the procedure goes as planned people can physically recover quickly, but circumcision (genital mutilation) is also associated with lifelong dissociative trauma response disorders which often get misdiagnosed as ADD/ADHD.
It has the potential to lead to mistrust of parents later in life, and simply shouldn't be anyone's decision other than the person getting the procedure done.
It also makes the penis less sensitive and takes away a lot of the pleasure nerves.
(Who wouldn't be mad about having this choice made for them?)
I forgave my parents, but the truth is they were lied to by a medical establishment into giving manufactured consent to a predatory procedure that frankly in a healthy society should be banned for minors.
If someone wants to be circumcised, that is something they can decide for themselves later in life when they are capable of giving consent on their own. The only reason it is done to young people is so they might forget the pain caused by the procedure.
But just because they don't have the memory does not mean they don't have the trauma.
All the health benefits associated with circumcision are only applicable to a small area in Africa and that was decades ago before modern medicine was as developed.
It is a completely cosmetic decision that should not be made by anyone but the person who would receive it.
When parents are informed, they will realize that it's very similar to giving their infant a tattoo against their will.
I would encourage parents to not beat themselves up if they made the wrong decision, they don't know how abusive this procedure is, and it's not the parent's fault, It's the doctors and medical staff who manufacture consent and conduct these barbaric procedures on minors that are to blame.

Circumcision is not a big deal. Circumcision doesn't cause any problems, and it has a lot of benefits. It should be the parent's decision whether or not if their child gets circumcised. There are parents who have their baby's ears get pierced, and most people are ok with that.

It baffles me that rather than teach boys to clean themselves properly (a part of regular hygiene) we think they can’t possibly be bothered with such a daunting task and cut their genitalia, at just DAYS or weeks old.. one of the first things you experience is mutilation of your sexual organs. In the Philippines more than 90% of males are circumcised. It is not due to a religious or medical reason but is cultural. It is considered a rite of passage for young prepubescent boys to undergo circumcision most often without any anesthesia. After the foreskin is cut with a razor, the boys are told to chew guava leaves and jump in the river to facilitate healing. Those are wonderful memories you tell to your future sons.

@@kylieboudreaux3296 Wow, you did not understand what I was saying. Even slightly. Nice. Your "natural" features can cause you health problems. This is why surgery exists in the first place. For example, your appendix is totally natural but does nothing beneficial anymore. It mostly just causes trouble down the line. If there was suddenly a minimally invasive surgery to remove the appendix at birth which removes the possibility of dangerous appendicitis, I think it would be smart to consider it. While I agree that the evidence is not good enough to warrant the removal of part of the foreskin, it IS possible for there to be some scientific debate about whether a "natural" feature is actually helpful or not. Making a medical decision for your child is not "violating their right to choose" any more than getting them an appendix surgery at age five. Grow up.

I'm so glad it wasn't done to me. Friends always ridicule me or people who didn't have it done. Meanwhile they don't even understand all the nerves they're missing. And I've never had any condition or health problem because of it. It takes 20 seconds or less to clean yourself in the shower. It's not worth mutilating yourself. It's like cutting off your nose because there's a booger in it.
The friends that ridicule you dont know what they lost. If they did they would envy you. Anyone who got circumcised who remembers what it was like to have a foreskin, misses it dearly, unless it was a phimosis foreskin.
@@johnny9094 I was circumcised at 20. It felt the exact same afterwards. If anything, it felt a little bit better for me, as during sex the glans was in constant contact with the vaginal walls, rather than being momentarily covered by the foreskin.
Circumcision doesn't have any negative effects on men, and it actually has many benefits. It helps protect against diseases like STDs and penile cancer and infections and any other problems that the foreskin causes. Having it done at infancy is better than having it done later on in life as an adult for a lot of reasons. Female circumcision on the other hand doesn't have any benefits, and it causes a lot of problems, and that's why it needs to be stopped. There's nothing wrong with circumcision, Circumcision also reduces the risk of urinary tract infections.

I disagree on getting circumcised does not "affect" sexual pleasure. It most certainly does. The foreskin protects the head and keeps it sensitive. So right there you lose a good 30 percent of your full pleasure potential. On top of that, fhe frenulum gets removed (which the foreskin is connected to) and the frenulum is the the MOST pleasure spot in a man, since the contractions occur and aim to that point of the penis. These are all points from circumsiced men I have discussed with and what they tell me. Male circumcision is mutalilation and depriving men of full sexual pleasure. Decreased Diseases? Bull shit. The foreskin PROTECTS from external sources. Proper hygiene and having safe sex is key. Not cutting your dick off.
Almost all of the systematic reviews and meta-analysis papers (this strongest form of scientific evidence) have found that circumcision does not negatively impact sexual function or pleasure.

I genuinely want the doctor who circumcised me to face accountability. I don't care if it's jail time or an apology with the promise to never perform this barbaric unnecessary procedure on an infant or child ever again.
Circumcision is just legalized child abuse and I don't believe there is truly a doctor out there who has performed a circumcision who knows that it's not deeply and innately wrong.
Especially in the west, there's absolutely no medical benefit, and the risks far outweigh any potential benefits.

We are not living under the old covenant anymore but under grace because we can’t keep the whole law - only Jesus could. So we are not saved by keeping the law but by faith in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross.
The nations were not required to circumcise their sons to become saved. Read the New Testament. Otherwise we would need to follow all the Jewish rules and laws: that means : no bacon, keeping the Sabbath, and all that…. Becoming Jewish does not save us and connect us with God.

The man in the video with the strong dutch accent said that having a circumcition does not lower the sexual pleasure you might experience, but removing the foreskin lowers sensitivity, so how does it not lower the sexual pleasure? Without the foreskin protecting the head of your penis, over time, the head loses sensitivity. The older you are, the lower the sensitivity of your penis is. The foreskin protects your penis and keeps it sensitive until old age....
That is not true. On my own experience the sensitivity is never gone. It is still sensitive after 15 years. I got circumcised when I was 12.

I wonder how many boys had there lives ruined by botched circumcisions throughout the use of this barbaric religious practice? I was circumcised as a baby and there were no complications thankfully but the idea of severing flesh from a baby’s penis is revolting I would never do that to my son if I ever have one. I believe this practice of circumcising a child should be illegal. I find it difficult to believe that there are still people who defend this completely unnecessary procedure.

i had too much skin removed and moving the skin is almost completely impossible, it’s fucked with my mental health for years, im literally missing a piece of myself that i’ll never get back thanks to this country, every person i’ve tried to get with says they would prefer it uncut and it’s completely fucking ruined my self-esteemed, im just so upset and mad that i had no say, but nobody fights for us because men never speak up

In first-world countries circumcision starts with a doctor's appointment? hold on, in the united states nearly everyone my generation (millennial) and older, including me, was circumcised as an infant. There was no doctor's appointment where a discussion with a consenting individual happened. But it's cultural here, not religious.
The harms of infant circumcision have almost nothing to do with pain or trauma experienced by the infant. It has everything to do with bodily rights, and adults having to live without a natural part of their body. I wish and wonder all the time what it would be like to have my foreskin.
It is not circumcision, it is a terrible and cruel child sexual abuse and gnital mutilation that must be rejected, prohibited and punished because it has no benefits or advantages.
There's pain and trauma as an infant, there's studies that prove you can't remove all pain during this, it causes brain damage, there's even video here on it

So, if Circumcision is supposed prevent cancer and diseases then using that logic then shouldn't women be guided to have a Mastectomy because I think breast cancer is on or near the top of cancer and death verses penis cancer. Then taking it even farther shouldn't men be guided to have prostatectomy to prevent prostate cancer as well. I never hear on the news about men having penis cancer or diseases and I know there are cases. Thank god in 85% of the world intact is a given birth right, no one asks for a baby boy to get circumcised .In most of the world it is as weird and odd to have a son circumcised;as it would be to have daughter circumcised . Outside of the USA ,most male circumcisions are done due to religion.

There’s IS no argument! Children Should NOT be circumcised unless their life is at stake or there is a medical complication.

I did many research and wrote an essay about this in college. I was so afraid that I would get an F, but I got an A! Turned out the professor liked it.
There are many studies done on men who has had sex before being circumcised. Most of the studies indicated that after circumcision, most men lost sensitivity and sexual pleasure. Masturbation wasn't as enjoyable anymore and some even lost the function to get hard.
On the other hand, the studies states that sex last longer with the circumcised men.
1. Circumcising leads to less sensation. Years of unprotected rubbing of glans against cloths surfaces leads to loss of sensation. *Uncircumcised- the beautiful jewel is protected, sliding back the foreskin to reveal the beautiful jewel that’s hidden inside. A beautiful precious flower blooming and opening. Enticing excitements as to how it will look like. Glossy, shiny, and undamaged.
*The jewel is exposed 24/7 and not special anymore on the circumcised penis. It's damaged. An outside organ now.
2. Fuck religion/culture as a reason to circumcised. How the hell do you even know if your child will grow up to follow the same religion/culture as you do? If he does he’ll circumcised himself then. So what, god put it there just to be cut?

I’ve seen many done on babies and they still feel pain even with anesthesia. Poor things. Breaks my heart just seeing babies going through all that. And no it's not better to do it when someone is a baby. Yeah, they will sleep it off but they still feel pain! Just because they can't tell you. In fact it's worst because more babies died from circumcision than adults. Babies can't communicate with you when they need help.
6. I know many men who regret getting circumcised because they were either forced as a baby or because they think it’s “normal” to be circumcised or because they wanted to fit in; and most of them wonders and fantasying about how sex must feels like if they were not cut… what it must be like...
7. Circumcision reduces HIV? Yeah like some 30-40%, you’re still at risk no matter what. And how the hell did they come up with those numbers?! Eyeroll. There are NO valid or genuine studies because in order to have a legit study, there needs to be two groups; one group circumcised and sleep with hiv infected people, and the other non circumcised and sleep with hiv infected people, now you can compare! But who the hell will sleep with any one infected? You see?
Years ago a bunch of people in Africa thought that getting cut will prevent hiv and so they got cut and go out and have a bunch of sex- many of them got infected lol. So yes, you’re still highly at risk- oh and that goes with other STDs as well.

I had a botched circumcision as a newborn and as a result I have a skin bridge connecting the shaft to the glans. It's just one bridge but it still makes me self-conscious although I've learned to deal with it. A lot of circumcised men have it far worse, having more than one bridge and they either have to live with (often times it makes erections and sex painful) it or go through embarrassing surgery to correct it. I wouldn't wish circumcision upon my greatest enemies.

6:22 I don’t think that’s true. Smaller children have a less robust immune system and fewer ounces of blood to lose before hemorrhagic stroke or coma of traumatic shock kicks in. Much higher risk of infection and the brain is at a more malleable stage so there will be more experienced based trauma. Retraction of foreskin happens sometime during puberty so circumcision definitely shouldn’t be done before then. But even after puberty if it ain’t broke don’t break it

Let's be honest here, it's genital mutilation. I was done as a baby and I would never have agreed to it. You failed to mention how as a baby the foreskin is attached to the head of the penis and is separated with a probe before being clamped and then cut, I defy anyone to watch a circumcision (they're on UA-cam) and not be horrified. As for health benefits, the HIV one has been disproven some time ago and other complications may never happen, do we remove a woman's breasts as there's a high chance of breast cancer. There are two other downsides to circumcision.
Firstly, there is reduced sexual pleasure (despite what you said to the contrary). This is backed up by the anatomical structure of the foreskin, and self-reported anecdotal data in “studies” does not refute this.
Second, when done to a baby or a child, it is without his uninfluenced and informed consent. This is a violation of human rights and bodily autonomy rights.
Additionally, circumcision does not reduce the risks of STIs, UTIs, and other conditions (such as phimosis) as much as it is advertised to. These risks are only significant when an uncircumcised boy/man does not know or practice proper hygiene.
I wish my parents understood that before doing it to me...

You presentation was lacking the reasons for remaining intact. The foreskin is a healthy natural tissue that provides protection, lubrication. pleasure and benefits for both sexual partners. I had it done as a baby as well. Id say we aren’t qualified to say if it reduced our sensitivity because we never got the chance to feel what it would have felt like to be intact. They said however they don’t know how large you will end up being down there as you grow and it’s very easy to remove too much skin which happened in my case leaving me incapable of self pleasure because it’s immensely painful.

When they get phimosis for example I think. That's when the foreskin tightens up around the head and strangles it to the point where it hurts to pull it back or get hard.

In All cases of making decisions is parental autonomy because children do not have mental capacity to make such decisions and according to the Who World Health Organization and NHS website male circumcision has medical benefits. In case of Muslims and Jews it is religious obligation and identity question in case of Africans is "rite of passage" and Native Aboriginal culture in Australia including Philippines. So it is more than only medical benefits.

Infant circumcision is unnecessary and should not be performed. The decision should be left to the patient when he becomes an adult. However, if there is a medical need for a circumcision before that time, it should be performed by a licensed physician. The medical reasons for circumcision were discussed well in the video.
The title of this video is a misleading hoax. The doctor goes to some length to explain the pros of circumcision but when it comes to the cons, it's based strictly on the chances of complications from the procedure. At no time does he talk about why a man might WANT to retain his foreskin, whether it is psychological (ego ideal) or physical. I also question his statement that it makes no difference to the pleasure in having sex. It is logically and physically impossible to remove a highly enervated area of skin like the foreskin and have the sensations be equal to that of a well-functioning penis with a foreskin. Just ask any experienced woman or gay man which type of penis is more sensitive; there is no doubt.
I'm sorry, doctor, but the title "Why Circumcision Is A Bad Idea" is completely inaccurate. This just comes across as more scare tactics to get circumcised and medical propaganda. You get a thumbs-down from me.

I have a really long foreskin which over the time became tight and retraction was painful. This is when i thought of going for circumcision, but then i thought about so much sensitivity and pleasure this piece of skin gives me. Then i started to slowly retract the skin with the help of coconut oil and massage my penis with the oil. Slowly and steadily the skin got loosened and now it retracts properly without any pain and all the sensitivity and pleasure intact!

I have heard this story before. In fact, it happened to me and I coached a close friend to try the same. It doesn't always work but it often does. Just retract a tiny bit more (never to the point of pain) every time you pee. Masturbation helps too. 😏

Those who have been mutilated in this way need to be able to sue parents. doctors complicit in this for substantial compensation. Ok. if an adult man wishes to go and get his foreskin hacked off. that's different. but NEVER to child!!!! If a child were to have their finger or toe chopped in accordance with some religious mumbo jumbo. it would obviously never be allowed. so why is genital mutilation tolerated?

Tbh, people can get circumcised if you want as an adult but just don't force it on a child that can't make a choice whether they want to be citcumcised or not. Which reminds me of the forced surgeries done intersex children to make them be perceived as either a boy or a girl because of societal standards of gender, without their consent. So I'm wondering why people say trans kids are getting surgery when that's not true at all when those people against a trans people would be okay having an intersex child have surgery before they can consent in order to be "normal". So basically, Every part is gift of God (excluding uncertain conditions like phimosis). That is why, ppl who don’t have phimosis shouldn’t circumcise themselves. This is the crux of entire video as well, if you watch again carefully. 🙏☺️

If it's so effective at preventing HIV then how come the USA has the highest rates of male circumcision and the highest rates of HIV among industrialized nations? It also does affect sexual sensitivity in males. The foreskin has more nerves than a clitoris.
