    Very nice sweet review showed me a lot. I will have to check out JAL. I usually fly United Polaris from Hawaii to Asia.

      I flew Polaris home from Tokyo last year and it was pretty good! Would definitely rather fly JAL though.

    You should try the beef curry in the JAL lounges next time. It's JAL's signature dish.

    Love the channel, I have a question how do you deal with turbulence and not be so nervous on a flight. I have been on an airplane many times but I'm always scared. I eventually want to get over my fear and be able to fly overseas like you have

    • @DanielleDoherty
      @DanielleDoherty  3 місяці тому +2

      Thank you so much! Turbulence can be tough, but I always remind myself that flight incidents are extremely, extremely rare for how many flights go around the world daily, and that the pilots flying my plane have been trained well! I wish you luck in managing your fear!

    At the moment we’re so new to international travel that we’re entering every conversation with a bank of zero miles, and first class is a pipe dream at rack rates 😂 But man, what a dream it is! The first class lounge was incredible, and you did a great job highlighting all of the amenities - right down to the coffee, which would probably be a make or break for us 😁 Your seat was indeed thronelike - and the safety video made us laugh out loud, with the seatbelt warning scenario ! I don’t blame you for exhausting yourself on meal service, that ensemble looked terrific. And the fact that they literally make your bed up for you… 😱 This is the height (pun intended) of luxury. Really trying to learn from your travel tips and build up some mileage so that we can experience some of this for ourselves someday….hopefully without having to run up against the order system issue 😂 Another awesome video!

      If you all have any questions, lemme know! You would definitely love it. It takes some work to learn how to do it but it’s so so worth it for this niche little hobby 😀

    Hello Danielle! Are you still answering questions? I am trying to plan a 2025 trip to Japan to see my son who will be stationed there shortly and wanted to get your views on ANA vs JAL business class. Best mileage program to use for both, which one is cheaper (in awards) and availability. I will have a few people flying with me (2 or 3) so I was a little concerned about availability. Also, what is a good time of year to travel? Loved your videos! Thanks so much!

      Hi! It's been a while but I am planning on a return to UA-cam. I have a previous video about how to fly to Japan in first or business you should check out, but for business on either: I tend to gravitate towards American Airlines to book JAL, and Virgin Atlantic to book ANA. Also, I love Japan in the fall or spring - the humidity is crazy in the summer, and I'm not a huge fan of traveling in the winter. Hope it helped!

    Hi, great video, looks amazing. I think i'll fast the day before :D I booked this last night from JFK - HND for the 17th. Out of curiosity were they requiring masks on the plane or was it more of a courtesy for everyone else? I haven't flown since the height of the pandemic in Jan 2021. Ah I just reached the part where it mentioned the mask so I think I have my answer!

    Wow so lucky :) I never had a chance to fly JAL 1st class or ANA 1st Class. Do you think business class for both airlines is better for kids? Because it might be a waste if the kids don't know how to enjoy it, right? How much was the mileage for business class? Thanks.

    • @DanielleDoherty
      @DanielleDoherty  Рік тому +1

      I definitely think business class - my next video is actually on business vs first and I compare the two, so look out for that! For JAL business, it’s 60k miles for AA or Alaska, and ANA can vary from about 42-45 with Virgin Atlantic miles or 75k with Aeroplan, or 88k most of the time with United.

    Hi, great video! I noticed you said, you flew ANA New Business on the way to Japan. How would you compare that to JAL First? I have a flight from HND to LAX that is booked on ANA New Business (Using VS miles), couldn't find a first class seat on ANA. Considering booking JAL first (but using AA miles). Would u say the JAL first is much much better than ANA new business?

    I’ve flown this cabin several times and sorry you missed so many of the features of JAL First Class. FAs are always available. Never rely on screen tech! They are there to serve you. Also order the western menu and select specific Japanese dishes. Japanese menus are overrated for us westerners. How could you say it was amazing when you never got the ala carte when you wanted it? I suppose you don’t drink alcohol so missed out on the best champagne in the air: Salon. (Only snobs who know little about wine think Krug or Dom are the best.) And the wine list is superb along with the Habiki Japanese whiskey. BTW lounge receptionists/attendants on the ground aren’t called flight attendants. I think you must be more demanding and critical even if you’re just using miles instead of half a year’s salary for someone working at McDonalds!

    • @DanielleDoherty
      @DanielleDoherty  Рік тому

      I was just happy to be there! Thanks for the tips. I have flown JAL twice before (and ANA four) and know the level of service on Japanese airlines is amazing besides the little hiccups I had. And I’m not the biggest fan of champagne in the air. I try not to drink too much on the flight!

      @@DanielleDoherty I know I was harsh and projecting a “mansplaining” attitude. We’re all different other than our enjoyment of travel and discovering other people and their cultures. And I certainly am not encouraging a sense of “entitlement” that too many premium travellers project. Like you, I tend to stay clear of champagne/sparkling wines in the air, but a preflight Salon and one with dessert is something I can’t resist. You’ve a whole long life ahead to explore the world and meet the diverse people who inhabit it as I’ve been fortunate to do over the past 30 years since the advent of frequent flyer programs. Make the most of it!
