    Thanks for the performance testing. It's good to know what to avoid. I doubt there's any calibration being done. Just mass loading of the same firmware.

      ok no calibration being done at the factory might be acceptable if there is a calibration routine we can access ourselves but so far I couldn't find it.

      If soft calibration is actually coded in the firmware, perhaps tracking down the original equipment manufacturer or designer would be fruitful.

    As disappointing as this product seems to be, I'm still curious about the other modes. Have you tried holding the button in while powering it on? Also, I have an el-cheapo USB power meter with one button, and once powered on you have to click the button multiple times in quick succession to enter its options settings. Just some thoughts.

      tried holding the button while power up, it does nothing. I've also tried clicking the button multiple times, doesn't seem to do anything.

    Hello , Have you tried to power it up keeping that button pressed? Felicitari pentru Voltlog!

      yes I tried that, I mentioned it in the video, it did not do anything..

    Haha I hear you 'work on projects'. Reminds me that I also need to go through my boxes and full of drawers of China stuff.
    I now tend to buy something that also has casings for it. Even plexiglass cases are fine for me.
    I just smoked a really nice dual programmable voltage, current power meter/scope with a colour display because it wasn't in a case. Can't seem to find it anymore which is a real pity but for the 18 euro I paid for it was just awesome.... which ended up in smoke.

      I have this list of projects that I would like to work on at this time but I lack the time... really busy these days.

    As of13th April 2019 neither link yields the module - a great pity as it looks to be very useful. :-((

    Wooow, I love the idea but I do not like that item!! I am playing with ina219 and ina226 with arduino, mutch better.

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  7 років тому +1

      yup, one can do something much better.

      INA226 $4.60; INA219 $1.86 and the cost of the display meter = $2.25. what is the accuracy of the 219 and 226? How much better than this one? why are those better than this one?

    I wonder what would happen if you put more than 5v on power supply. There is a reverse polarity protecting diode, so chips don't get full 5V but something around 4.4V, but I think that is not a case this time. It's a crap.

    Thank you... As always! I think you saved few bucks to many people that may have looked at this for their dyi projects. A general thought (that I already started thinking of this few years ago when xiaomi product got counterfeit pretty widely) the world is going upside down if China counterfeits China itself... Lol

      I checked and you are right, the video was published OCT 2017, and over time links change, products get sold out.. there is nothing I can do about that.

    Wow, I see how bad internal oscillator/timers are now! Thanks for the unfortunate demonstration!!

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  7 років тому

      yup good example for bad oscillator setup or design.

  • @TheDefpom
    @TheDefpom 7 років тому

    Looks like junk to me, its oscillator isn't running at the right speed, which will be throwing all its measurements out, they should of used a crystal.

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  7 років тому

      it would have been decent if the calibration menu existed.. I could of used it at least for accurate amps and volts measurements..

  • @borayurt66
    @borayurt66 7 років тому

    I was thinking the same with same reasons... This should be a fake copy of a better working module... Also it is funny that the "welcome to use" initial screen was also the same with the dummy load. :-)

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  7 років тому

      strange coincidence :-) or maybe not?

    That thing is 100% pure Chineseium. I can't believe how inaccurate it is. I wonder if there's a 20x4 lcd version that makes you think it has 0.1 milli resolution and is even worse?

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  7 років тому

      it has good potential if only we could access the calibration menu

    "welcome to use" reminds me of that 150w load which it circulates lot of fakes of that also missing calibration features etc.. But yeah, that was one useless meter. :p
