I'm 72 years old never have baught a new vehicle, never paid more than $300
I'm not pay any of this truck over $40k period .
It has to make sense for a persons finance
Still over priced!
I have the money to buy that 40k but why should I for a truck. I just stay in the 25 k range if not less for sure
I can afford that 40k but rather just stay in the 25k or less is possible. There is no reason it should cost that much for a basic car.
I hate to break it to everyone these trucks will continue to pile up because manufacturers marked them up so damn high.
That's what i am doing i am fixing and driving my 2010 civic. I was waiting to buy a new car the price never going to go down so i gave up. and spent $2k on my old car changed front & rear shocks & all 4 brakes. I am happy at least i got something to drive i don't need a new car for next 5 years 😂
Amen
Smart move
Inflation is affecting all sectors of the economy.
My mother told me she was planning to replace some windows in her house this summer and she figured it was going to cost about 2400 dollars by what she paid for a similar job in the mid 2000's.
I told her it would probably be anywhere from 4500 to 6500 for the windows she was suggesting and she just scoffed at me.
Well she got a quote for less windows than what she replaced in the mid 2000's and the price was right at 4600 dollars.
She was floored even though that is the low range of what I told her to expect.
People, especially older people do not realize how bad real inflation actually is.
Yes and it hits the elderly hard as most are on a bit of a fixed income
@@markholubetz I asked her once what the average suggested nest egg was for retirement in the 80's and she said about 500,000 was a good target for the time.
I quickly calculated the inflation from 1980 and told her, "You realize that is around 5,000,000 dollars today?"
She gasped and said, "No that can't be! That's impossible!" and I said, "Yes, inflation has nearly 10X'd from 1980. Can you see now why retirement is a fairy tail form your generation for the new generations?"
I would have to work 87 years before tax and not spend a dime of it to have the same retirement life style as someone who retired with 500,000 in the 80's
I can barely afford to put gas in my used 2013 Golf, not sure how these folks continue to finance these new vehicles without losing sleep at night.
I'm single on 150k yr and sometimes struggle with my expenses. Honestly I can't imagine having a family
I avoid looking at the price as I fill up my mk8 GTI with 91 gas
@@greathey1234lmfao. You must be living way past your means. Lie detector says.
Stop playing games and you could afford the gas
It’s not easy to make ends meet these days
I've seen a co worker take a gas powered scooter to my job today. Much cheaper than maintaining a car especially during the summer.
These vehicles will require a $1000 payment if not more. Just contemplate how much insurance and maintenance costs. Why would you want to sink that much of your income into transportation? These prices are idiotic.
They are and a 60000 dollar truck generally costs around d 1000/month on a 5 year loan term
All good points. I see the clothes at Walmart and Costco aren't selling as they used to.
Unless a market crash happens soon forget about car prices going down
I honestly think the big manufacturers did the math and discovered they can make a profit by only catering to the top 10% of earners. Plus the occasional wannabe baller and just plain stupid person. If things slow down, they're just going to layoff and get a government bailout.
@@lot2196That didn't make any sense what you wrote lol. Top 10%? What lol. They are relying on the stupid person which is more than half society so why even bother saying 10% lol.
Exactly
Devil's advocate . The manufacturers are still offering sub 30k cars. Like 30 of them. Mazda CX 30 for instance. 25k USD hatch with AWD. Decent gas mileage. No cvt. Or Nissan versa you can get for 17k USD with a Manual shift. They didn't totally abandon the financially challenged. And the Mazda especially could last 15 years if maintained. But the upper end suv, truck market. Forget it unless you are making 200k a year. @@markholubetz
My paid off 2017 Hyundai Sonata, 4 cylinder, 51k miles. Looks really nice!
These vehicles are mainly for display only. You must be insane if you have no issue with these prices 😅
These prices are extremely ridiculous
EVS aren't worth the money, the range anxiety and they are expensive and not really going to save you $$$
True the upfront cost and higher insurance costs are guaranteed to cost more than a comparable ICE
Heck, California charges a lot of money to even register cars. I drive a 1998 Tacoma, this year's registration was $125, it's supposed to be based on the value of the vehicle. And it's 26 years old, technically it's a historic vehicle.
Sadly California has take.n an aggressive stance on drivers and ownership in general
Historic lmfao
That’s about the absolute minimum that a vehicle registration could be, an old low value vehicle. Now take that $125 and add the VLF, which is just over 3% of your vehicle’s value. A $60k vehicle would be $1800, essentially $150 per month. So they get you for 7-8% sales tax when you buy the car, then you have to pay 3% every year as long as you own it. They did make it income tax deductible, so at least there’s that…
Same as corrupt Seattle….170$ to register a 2014 mini, every year…….it was once every two years for 40$ in Texas.
@@jtamezfthat's why you vote red and avoid blue states
Interesting perspective. Thanks
A lot of buyers simply do not "do the math" when it comes to the costs involved in owning, buying, maintaining, and insuring a vehicle...not to mention mileage. I've always said..."every revolution those tires make on the street...costs you MONEY...MONEY...MONEY! Some vehicles less than others...some more than others. Get out the calculator before you buy...and adjust accordingly!
67k for the new jeep wrangler sport!!! Damn. We paid 30k in 2012 for our wrangler unlimited sport that had all the premium sound (w/sub), bluetooth, and tow package and hard top etc. so the price has doubled and i don’t even know if that sport you showed has the packages that we have on our 2012 jeep. The only things missing in ours was the car play type screen. But that was rare in the 2012s in general and we can always upgrade ours.
Hello Mark, here watching! 👍
Thanks for the visit
@@markholubetz You’re welcome
I'm not willing to pay more for a car than what I paid for my house.
Same. I paid $32,000 in 2012 for my house. I was recently thinking of buying a Maverick but I can't even wrap my head around paying 28k for a new vehicle. I only ever bought 2 year lease turn ins for under 15. Those days are gone.
in the summer, use an Ebike like i do.
That’s a great plan
they can keep them all
Yes indeed at these prices. Would love to see prices come down another 30 percent even after these inventives
Love that you practice what you preach. Drive that 2003 Ram until the wheels fall off.
Those trucks are not even worth over 40 grand all that plastic garbage problems all the time and today thare telling us to take the suspended extra 4 thousand dollars plan to cover to a 100.000 miles because of engine transmission and rear end problems are you kidding me and interest each month on 4 grand for extra warrentee
EVs don’t make sense, just get a 40 mpg gas vehicle.
Cost of maintaining a house, car, buying food, insurance, taxes and on and on. Me buy a cat for 70k or 100k? Haha 😂
You know what I like about this guy he say what most people won’t say the truth
It’s horrible seeing this country turning into a third world country!
72 for that !!!! I just built a 24’ Sierra denalu loaded except super cruise with a soft tonneau cover 22”wheels in that 4300 package with sunroof , power folding step bars in downpour metallic and it was 79
Is that USA because here in Canada that Denali you just spec’d out is $90,000 !!!
@@jimfleury6349 USA Michigan dealer the ultimate Denali ( the highest trim ) I built was 83900 plus 1995 transportation so 85895 I think same color… 25k down and the payment was 1185 for 60 months .. you can get down to 850 but it’s 84 months way too long of loan… the regular denali with same 25k down was 1045 for 60 months
Denial lol
In a few years...With the rate of money printing and corruption....these prices will seem like bargains
I own 5 (five) 4x4 toyota pickups...all 22r or re...1985,1985, 1986,1986 1991.. im good for life, thanks.
It will get to a point when insurance rates will be cost prohibitive and can't afford to drive because of the increasing high rates. Having food in the refrigerator is much more important.
I personally have no desire to move toward an ev. I'm actually noticing more and more classics. With modern engine options available, you can drive a classic with all the modern features for a fraction of the price of a new vehicle. The lower price tag combined with the ease of serviceability makes a classic a great option.
People must be making a lot of money where I live because it seems everyone is driving new vehicles. 4 guys I work with bought new trucks this year and I know a few more who plan on buying the 2025 when they come out. Dealerships are doing great!!
A lot of perception. Banks have a lot of money
Your Canadian accent is quaint. My cousins in Detroit have a Canadian accents! Lol
In Louisiana many have French Canadian accents
We had saved a long time to get $15k for a down payment to buy a new car. Looking at prices, plus tax and so on, our payment was going to be well over $600 a month for anything new. Insane. We bought used. New is out of reach and even used is crazy cause people buying used, so even used is crazy
Electric or gas, it's still going to cost you. Install the hookup, and plug it in at home, is going to cost.
70k for a base truck🤣🤣🤣🤣. Who in his right mind? I’ll stick to my 30K loaded Subaru C4osstrek
"cheap run a bout". Yes. The is no point wasting money driving my truck to half the places i go
Yes that’s the bottom line. Walking, biking, can get you to a few of your regular spots
@@markholubetzI was thinking another car. 🤣
Ford is CRAZY 🤪 ASKING THOSE PRICES $$$ FOR AN F-150
Haha exactly. Not sure how that makes any sense
25k for a used truck with cash that’s it. These prices are asinine
can't afford it. I lease vihoecles and I just can't so I purchased a used good car from a dealer closeout sale. 2013 subaru. runs easy to work on.
Where's the sedan with removable trunk lid?
I say : don't feed the kids and buy the $ 120000.00 truck 😂. These prices are ridiculous.
Need to find out the true repo numbers.
The more you save the less the government takes.
I don’t really think they want to sell the trucks cause if they wanted to sell them they lower the price where it should be if some type of game they plan that the public don’t understand right now but we’ll see what happens lol
My drastic measure is riding the bus.
Too many people live in beyond their means. Buying a new vehicle is a privelage not a right. Life is different for folks, some will have the means and some dont. If you dont make enough money buy a $72 truck find something cheaper or possibly find a higher paying job. There is more to life than keeping up with the Jones. It' s not rocket science. Buyers are not getting screwed by exspensive trucks, buyers are screwing themselves buying something they cannot afford. You are resposible for your decisions and actions.
People really should live within their means
INsanity! I cannot believe that the Manufacturers are that out of touch with reality. So who's forcing up thepricing and why.
I DID consider a gas saving motorcycle, but with SO much distracted driving, and road rage today it was nixed quickly
What about sales tax? What about the insurance rates for taking such an expensive on the Mad Max streets, highways, and interstate? Sales tax where I live is 7%. For the sales tax I could buy a reliable twenty year old Toyota
The sales tax about killed me on mine. Went to register it and was into the thousands, and thousands, and thousands. I need to stop living in blue states
As long as the interest rates sky rocketing more new cars will fill car dealers, first used car prices will rise, dealers will go bankrupt because they don't own these cars, they are loaned by banks.
Floor plan costs are creeping up
People that buy a new house have too have a new vehicle or 2 in their driveway. Optics means everything for some.
True, many people line the way it looks to neighbors
I’m in the market for a Ram 3500, but I will not buy. I will not buy. I will not buy.
PEOPLE DON'T NEED A BRAND NEW VEHICLE, BUY A GOOD USED VEHICLE
Even used is expensive
Exactly especially for a commuter
It's not that simple. Then the vehicles break down and you have repairs AnD payments. Okay if you dont go far but if you need the car and do miles
@@itsallminor6133 I have a Ford Focus with 292k miles and I drove it to Montana and back 2 years ago and I make 2-3 trips every year for the past 2 years to see my daughter in Danville. I live in Northern Illinois and no problem, but I take great care of it with regular maintenance
@@itsallminor6133I payed $160 dollars in maintenance on my 2011 f150 platinum last year. What do you mean it costs more to maintain a vehicle? Oh I also had an oil change, that was another $120 so yeah I spent $280 last year on my truck.
Did I not tell you these informations?
I used to spend $800 a month with my ram 1500 and insurance was $180 a month. I have a mustang Mach E, my insurance is $192 a month and I spend about 50 a month to charge it. I’ll take $250 a month over $980 a month any day. Not to mention the fact that I have eight years of warranty on battery and motors. There is absolutely zero comparison on how much you will spend owning EV versus ice. Gas savings alone pay for 3/4 of my car payment.
You probably buy lots of bottles of water.
"Gas savings alone pay for 3/4 of my car payment." So in reality you're actually spending more than before. Ok!
@@frankiefrank2628 ohhhhhh ya lol. You will be in a perpetual debt slave system of 100 grand vehicles all the time that you will never pay off in your life time lol. Keep up the bad thinking the system wants suckers who are easily tricked with the systems cloaked reality that most of society just don't get it. A sucker is born everyday. Saving hundreds to spend 100'$ of thousands lmfao.
@@frankiefrank2628 in reality I had a car payment on gas car on top of all listed expenses. My payment went up by 100 bucks for a newer and better vehicle that doesn’t use gas
New vehicles are for the elite
I wouldn’t say the elite. But new vehicles are for business owners and not hourly wage people. They can buy used.
food, cars, real estate all going up higher
2-3% inflation is a lie, your money lost a chunk of its value like I said before. For example, the package of pizza pepperoni i bought for $9.99 in 2020 is now $13.99. does that seem like 2-3% a year? As time goes on and all the printed money keeps circulating threw the system, stuff will become more expensive.
That being said I like the videos and price updates, keep it going please
My son bought a used Tahoe with 4,000 miles for 57,000
Wow
Ouch. What’s his interest rates and insurance cost? I hope he makes over $40 an hour or he still lives with you. Hahaha

In 1928 Henry Ford Said: Le constructeur avisée, au contraire, doit chercher à livrer l'automobile qui fera le plus long usage, qui sera la plus sûre en toutes circonstances, qui entrainera le moins de dépenses. The wise manufacturer, on the contrary, must seek to deliver the automobile which will last the longest, which will be the safest in all circumstances, which will entail the least expense. In Science et la vie, Vol 133 juillet 1928 p. 12. I got an original copy at home.
People... Are getting financial conservative. ?
Yes they are
Who can afford these vehicles?
Very few people
Me I guess. But I wouldn't buy one. I did make a low ball offer on a GMC 2500 hd. So far they haven't called me back. Just crickets. But it's what the truck was worth to me. And that is all that matters. Is what it's worth to me. I'm the one having to pay the it. And I thought it was fair. But yeah I offered near 20k below MSRP and out the door so they could even tack on fees. If it's worth more to them or someone else then they can buy it
I can afford one to. I just paid cash for a new Honda CRV. But I could afford more. I went for reliability.
