My ranking would go like this: #9: Simulation Theory #8: Will Of The People #7: Drones #6: The Resistance #5: Showbiz #4: The 2nd Law #3: Black Holes and Revelations #2: Absolution #1: Origin of Symmetry
1. Black Holes and Revelations 2. Absolution 3. Origin of Symmetry 4. The 2nd Law 5. The Resistance 6. Drones (I love Psycho and is one of my favorite songs by the band and I am not sorry :p) 7. Showbiz 8. Will of the People 9. Simulation Theory
1. Origin of Symmetry 2. Absolution 3. Black Holes and Revelations 4. Showbiz 5. The Resistance 6. Drones 7. Simulation Theory 8. Will of the People 9. The 2nd Law
Mine would be 9 simulation theory (was not excited for this at all) 8 will of the people (it's got a few good songs but that's it) 7 showbiz (only because it's the one I've heard the least so don't know it too well) 6 the 2nd law (again got a few good songs, love the isolated systems) This is where it gets hard 5 Drones (I really enjoyed the album, tho I agree with you in that it has worn out a bit) 4 the resistance (I think this album is brilliant, also love the exogenesis) Same top 3, different order 3 Absolution (absolutely amazing, only reason it's 3rd is because I listen to the top 2 more often) 2 origins of symmetry (an absolute trip, dark shines is just amazing) 1 black holes and revelations (all time favourite by far, I listen to it in full many many times)
@@misoginainternalizadaopres7131 Reapers and Psycho are also really fucking good! Overall, I love Drones, and it is sooo overrated (just like WOTP is, and it was just released)
Can anyone else share my love for showbiz please? UGH, yes, they might be simpler, shallower and radioheadesque; but there is no one song I forget, even the hated Overdue gets stuck in your head for ages. Sunburn is a gem, Showbiz is easily top 10 ever muse songs, Unintended is pure beauty, Escape and Falling down are nice, Spiral Static is unique and COME IN MY CAVEEEE iz gold 😭
i'm not the biggest Muse fan but Showbiz might be my second fav (following Origin) I particularly love digging into those EPs/singles, some really good b-side material & alternate versions from that era
for real. I think people forget that showbiz is actually their debut album instead of origin of symmetry. showbiz has been neglected so much. it has the least talk :( at least the hated album get mention bcos they are /bad/. but showbiz? they don't exist
Yes! One of my favorite albums ever. The title track never fails to make me go crazy, Muscle Museum gets stuck in my head far too often ;), Hate This and I’ll Love You is epic with a capital E and Sunburn is probably the greatest introduction to a band’s career of all time
Worst Muse albums did not exist at all, only best ones, can you imagine a rock group putting a track like Fury in bonus track ? it says a lot on the quality of the album Absolution, ranking top of the tops .Muse are genius
Origin of Symmetry is and forever will be one of my all time favorite rock albums. Even though I haven’t been a fan of Muse’s recent work, I will forever jam their older stuff
Ditto man. Origin of Symmetry is the only Muse album that undoubtedly belongs to the history of rock. It’s a beast of an album, every track is great and original
Every single album has something unique that makes it good. You cannot classify a song. Everyone has a different opinion. Sometimes I'm in a mood where I want calm music. Sometimes it's the opposite. Muse's different records fill that need.
Unpopular opinion but despite agreeing with your ranking, I'd argue Muse hasn't put out a bad album. I still had a lot of fun with Will of the People. I still loved Simulation Theory. Drones had The Handler for goodness sake. The last three albums had their bad songs but as a whole, they grow on you with repeated listens.
The only album I kind of consider bad is Simulation Theory but it has it's redeeming qualities. I just can't stand Propaganda, Something Human, and Get Up and Fight That being said, Will of the People is a solid album in my opinion. Not their best work but it is underappreciated for sure
My Personal Ranking (+fave song) 1. Origin of Symmetry- S (Plug in Baby or Citizen Erased) 2. Absolution- S (Time is Running Out) 3. Black Holes and Revelations- S (Map of the Problematique) 4. The Resistance- A (United States of Eurasia) 5. Showbiz- B (Unintended) 6. The 2nd Law- B (Animals) 7. Will of the People- C (Euphoria) 8. Simulation Theory- D (Pressure) 9. Drones- D (Mercy) There are songs I love on all the albums, I rank an album based on how much of the album I wouldn't skip.
1. OOS S (Citizen Erased, but everything on this album is great) 2. Absolution S (Stokolm Syndrom) 3. BHAR A (Knight of Cydonia) 4. Showbiz A (Showbiz) 5. Resistance B (Unnatural Selection) 6. The 2nd Law B (Supremacy) 7. Drones C (the Handler, but I actually love Dead Inside) 8. WOTP D (the Halloween stuff is fun, and "F*ckin F*cked" is pretty cool too) 9. Simulation Theory D (I don't really remember a strong song on this album, just some pretty cool concepts and ideas, like "Algorithme" or "Dark Side")
I love the new album But that's just me and how I feel. I think they did a good job on combining all the elements that makes them great and Drones is my number one from them.
My top 9 simulation theory vote: 6- 8 drones Vote: 7 7: will of the people Vote: 7,5 6 showbiz Vote: 8 5 absolution Vote: 8 4 the resistance Vote: 9 3 the 2nd law Vote: 9+ 2 origin of simmetry Vote: 9,5. 1 BLACK HOLES AND REVELATION. VOTE: 10
My ranking, jff: 1) Absolution 2) Black Holes and Revelations 3) Origin of Symmetry 4) Showbiz 5) The Resistance 6 / 7) The 2nd Law 6 / 7) Drones 8 / 9) Will of the People 8 / 9) Simulation Theory Miss the old Muse, I wish them the best tho.
Pretty much how I expected the albums to go outside of the Top 3. Once you get there it’s incredibly difficult to choose like you said. Some interesting song choices for the Top 20 as well as some that simply cannot be overlooked. MotP is also definitely one of my top favourites that I feel isn’t as loved as it should be.
Agreed 💯 The 2nd Law is the most experimental, personal, and has been a love/hate album for me due to kind of the same personal reasons. I always say that it's their hidden and forgotten gem. 💎
My ranking 9) Simulation Theory 8) 2nd Law 7) The Resistance 6) Origin Of Symmetry 5) Showbiz 4) Drones 3) Will of The People 2) Black Holes and Revelations 1) Absolution Subject to change as I’ve only been a big fan for like a year

Will of the People isn't as good as "early Muse" but I think it fits in perfectly fine with their catalogue as a whole. I like it WAY better than Simulation Theory. Sure most of the songs are cheesy but it's Muse, what did you expect 😂
@@willnewlands9588 I have Will of the People on vinyl as well. After seeing Muse on the Will of the People tour twice, I appreciate this album so much more
Glad to see some appreciation for 2nd Law. While not my favorite, it was the first of theirs that I anticipated the release of, so I have lots of nostalgia for it. Also, I think that tracks 7-11 might be one of the best 5-song-runs on any album (that's Animals, Explorers, Big Freeze, Save Me and Liquid State).
1. Resistance 2. Black holes and revelations 3. Absolution 4. 2nd Law 5. Drones 6. Origin of simetry 7. Showbiz 8. Simulation theory 9. Will of the people
Brilliant ranking, love your enthusiasm for Muse, great job, they are outstanding band! 🙌 I would have had trouble ranking any of these albums outside S or A Tier! (I’ve personally really enjoyed Will of the People!)
For me: 1. Absolution 2. Origin of Symmetry 3. black Holes & Revelations 4. Drones 5. Will of the People 6. The Resistance 7. The 2nd Law 8. Showbiz 9. Simulation Theory
my ranking is like 1. Showbiz 2. Absolution 3. Origin Of Symmetry 4. The Resistance 5. Black Holes And Revelations 6. The 2nd Law 7. Drones 8. Will Of The People 9. Simulation Theory
For me, Muse's most unfair album is 2012's The 2 Law. I remember many fans criticizing the band's sound, mainly because of "Madness" but this album has several classics! Soon after, another wronged album is "Drones". Ok, I don't listen to the album that much but some tracks on this album are true masterpieces! And it's an album that has a Grammy! Just like my favorite "The Resistance".
Didn’t expect this ranking to change a lot. Here’s my Ranking for Muse’s albums 1. Absolution 2. Origin of Symmetry 3. Black Holes and Revelations 4. Showbiz 5. The Resistance 6. The 2nd Law 7. Will of the People 8. Drones 9. Simulation Theory Happy to see Absolution at #1. It’s one of my Top 5 albums of all time so I’m thrilled. I can get behind the Top 20 songs here
My ranking: 9. The 2nd Law 8. Will of the People 7. Showbiz 6. Simulation Theory 5. The Resistance 4. Black Holes & Revelations 3. Origin of Symmetry 2. Drones 1. Absolution Edit: Solid top 20, I couldn’t pick my own off the top of my head, too hard
Here’s my ranking: #9: Simulation Theory (3/10) It’s hot garbage. I like The Dark Side and Pressure, Something Human would be decent if the mixing weren’t so awful, that’s it. Propoganda and Break It To Me are the two worst Muse songs by far, it’s barely a competition. #8: Will of the People (6.5/10) Kill Or Be Killed is a banger, Verona is a sweet song, Won’t Stand Down has a great breakdown, and, hot take, I really like We Are Fricking Fricked. But there are so many abysmal low points, even parts of songs I like that ruin them. The production is sloppy, Matt’s lyrics are getting cookie cutter, it’s just really disappointing overall. #7: Drones (7/10) Some of my favorite Muse songs are on here, like Reapers and The Globalist. Overall it’s a good album experience, but there are some songs that are so boring and forgettable from a band that’s typically anything but boring. Defector is the most forgettable song they’ve ever made, it’s not even a competition. #6: The Resistance (7/10) Pretty solid overall, but I don’t revisit it very often with the exception of the first two songs. #5: Showbiz (7/10) You can tell it’s a debut album. They’re still figuring out what they want to be at this point, so at times it sounds like a Walmart Radiohead. That being said, there aren’t really any bad songs, and Sunburn, Muscle Museum and the title track are mind-blowing. #4: The 2nd Law (8.5/10) I see why this album gets hate, but it’s honestly really good. Supremacy, Madness, Survival, Animals, Explorers, I can go on. It’s a really cool concept album that’s just the right amount of experimental. #3: Absolution (9/10) An excellent album. Every song is incredible and the whole album comes together to create a stellar rock experience. Hysteria is a classic, and the deep cuts are just as great. Butterflies and Hurricanes blew me away the first time I heard it. #2: Black Holes and Revelations (9/10) One of the most epic rock albums of the 2000s. Every song is somehow better than the last, all culminating in the masterpiece that is Knights of Cydonia. This album is just unforgettable. #1: Origin of Symmetry (9.5/10) One of my favorite albums ever. I seriously think it rivals any Queen album. Every song is near perfect. The Nina Simone cover is one of the best cover songs of all time. This is also the album that started my record collection, so it holds a special place in my heart. Muse has some duds, but this album alone is worth the deep dive.
Muse fan for 10 years let me try my hand at a tier list too: S: Origin of Symmetry, Absolution, Black Holes and Revelations A: The Resistance B: Drones C: The 2nd Law, Simulation Theory, Will of the People D: Showbiz
Man this band has fallen for me. They were one of my favourites but now I just don't listen to them anyone. But I still love a lot of their albums: 9. Will of the People - 1.5/5 8. Simulation Theory - 1.5/5 7. Drones - 3/5 6. The Resistance - 3/5 5. Showbiz 3.5/5 4. The 2nd Law - 4/5 3. Black Holes & Revolations - 4/5 2. Origin Of Symmetry - 4.5/5 1. Absolution - 5/5
#1 origin of symmetry #2 absolution #3 BH&R #4 WOTP #5 Resistance #6 Showbiz #7 2nd law #8 Drones #9 ST Will of the people is an album that with the time is going to get better and better, is way better than last 3 albums.
If you moved The 2nd Law from #7 to #4, our entire list would be exactly the same 😂. I love that you have Will of the People in the middle where it rightfully belongs
Have you seen them perform it on a TV show. There is a green background. It is sub titled. Now on UA-cam. I saw that performance. Together with Starlight & Knights. Motivated me to buy BH&R.
My top 20 songs, in no particular order: 1. Assassin extended version 2. Recess 3. Citizen erased 4. New Born 5. Uprising 6. Muscle Museum 7. Plug in baby 8. Apocalypse please 9. Take a bow 10. Knights of Cydonia 11. Stockholm Syndrome 12. Hysteria 13. Showbiz 14. Butterflies & Hurricanes 15. The Handler 16. Unnatural Selection 17. Micro-cuts 18. Map of the Problematique 19. In Your World 20. Fury Special mentions: Easily Eternally missed The Groove Darkshines Feeling Good Sunburn The Small Print Animals
I genuinely like Simulation Theory, more than Drones, 2nd Law or the new one whose name I haven't memorised yet but sounds like all the stuff teenage Matt's bandmates vetoed. The synth speaks to me. Definitely can't argue with your top three though. Think I'd go: 9, New one 8, Drones 7, Second Law 6, Resistance 5, Simulation Theory 4, Showbiz 3, Black Holes 2, Absolution 1, Symmetry
Same, I thought I was the only one who thinks that Simulation Theory isn't that bad. Because at least they're trying something different there and synthwave wasn't really a big genre at that time so they weren't selling out. Synthwave futuristic dystopian style fit perfectly with Muse but they got blasted for it. Well. maybe it's because there's only 4-5 tracks that are synthwave-y, while the rest are the same old generic rock lol.
Their 3 album run from OOS to BHAR is insane, truly legendary. Easy S tier. A tier? Call me crazy but I don't think muse has an A tier album, maybe BHAR in a bad day lmao B tier: The Resistance, Showbiz and The 2nd Law, Resistance was the record where they realized they could milk tracks like Uprising to death, I still think its enjoyable though. Showbiz is alright, just a rough debut The 2nd Law its always conflicting with me lmao, some days I like it, other days I hate it. C Tier: Drones and Simulation Theory Drones just feels boring I did like a few tracks off simulation theory, mostly because the synthwave 80s aesthetic was always great to me, but a good chunk of the tracks just feel empty or the same D Tier: WOTP easily, such a dissapointment EVEN FOR NEW MUSE Standards.
I really don't understand the Will of the People hate. It's not "elite" Muse but it is miles ahead of Simulation Theory and nobody can convince me otherwise
Here's my list: 1. The Resistance - S Tier 2. Showbiz - A Tier 3. Origin of Symmetry - A Tier 4. Black Holes and Revelations - A Tier 5. Absolution - B Tier 6. Will of the People - B Tier 7. The 2nd Law - B Tier 8. Drones - C Tier 9. Simulation Theory - D Tier
9. Simulation Theory - No explanation needed 8. The Resistance - Never been super fond of it. The singles are good, other than that each other song has major problems to me 7. Will of the People - I think people are much too critical of this album. I think it’s really good overall, although I will agree that the slower tracks don’t seem complete (Ghosts and Verona) 6. Showbiz - Some insane songs, lots of filler, overall mostly positive. It’s not as polished as a lot of their albums but of course it’s their first album 5. The 2nd Law - Very different but very good still, super consistent, tbh I love other tracks a lot more than the singles in this case it’s just a really solid album 4. Drones - Very hard, very consistent as well, it was really close with these last two tbh but I just feel I walk away from this album with more substance 3. Absolution 2. Black Holes and Revelations 1. Origin of Symmetry The last three change every few weeks tbh, so I’m not gonna really explain just that I’m really into Plug in Baby and Citizen Erased rn 20. Supermassive Black Hole 19. Euphoria 18. Assassin 17. Escape 16. Stockholm Syndrome 15. Reapers 14. Micro Cuts 13. Thought Contagion 12. Reapers 11. Panic Station 10. Knights of Cydonia 9. Sunburn 8. Animals 7. Kill or Be Killed 6. Dead Inside 5. Muscle Museum 4. Time is Running Out 3. Hysteria 2. Citizen Erased 1. Plug in Baby
S: Origin Of Symmetry, overall their most cohesive, consistent and characteristic album, one of my favorite records of all time. A: Absolution and BHaR, great albums overall with lots of bangers but not as cohesive thematically and stylistically, and some tracks are generic or forgettable imo. B: Showbiz and The Resistance. The former is a bit rough around the edges, but I really like the energy. The latter takes a pretty big step towards the more cheesy and generic modern Muse but at least the radio friendly songs here are rightly successful and legit good tracks. C: The 2nd Law, while I mildly like some tracks and I guess Panic Station in kind of a bop, this album alternates between feeling bland or a bad experiment. I don't think a single track here makes my top 20. I haven't listened to the last 3 albums except for a few songs here and there. Based on those songs and 2nd hand opinions I imagine I'd prolly put Drones in C tier and the last two albums in D tier, given what I usually like to hear from Muse.
@@guts9160 I agree it's the only song that doesn't really fit, but it's pointless to let yourself be affected by it, it's just one song after all. They probably put it in cause it had more radio potential.
My Muse album ranking. Masterpiece: • The Resistence • Origin Of Symmetry • Black Holes and Revelations • Rome Olympic Stadium (Live) • HAARP (Live) • Origin Of Symmetry XX I hear it reasonably but it doesn't mean it's bad: • Absolution • Showbiz • Absolution XX WRONGED but I love: • The 2 Law • Hoollabaloo Soundtrack I hardly listen often (but he has wronged albums): • Drones • Simulation Theory • Absolution Tour • Will Of People Yes, I included the live albums because I'm in favor of something more complete.
I don't have a particular issue with any of their albums to date (I actually really enjoyed Simulation Theory, like Will more with each listen, and honestly worship the ground Exogenesis walks on). I do join you in bowing down before Map of the Problematique.
Based on the number of songs on the album I regularly enjoy listening to - 1. OoS 2. BHaR 3. WotP 4. Absolution 5. The Resistance 6. Simulation Theory 7. The 2nd Law 8. Drones 9. Showbiz Don't understand the hate for WotP. It really worked for me, being both nostalgic and new at the same time. Say what you want about the 2nd Law, but Unsustainable was INSANE live during the 2nd Law tour!
@@albertnietzsche5383 I do too, I think there is just more going on in the songs. Absolution can feel a little bland at times for me especially the second half of the album which is pretty weak in my opinion , minus Butterflies and hurricanes. The slower songs don’t do it for me on the album
It's a close call, Absolution is a great album undoubtedly and it might be that after some time WotP might drop down IMO. I just find that I enjoy more of what's on WotP at the moment.
I couldn't get through the latest album. :( it just felt like everything I already heard but watered down or formulaic like they just doing the same thing over and over. The last album I've listened all the way through was black holes. I'm going to give the other albums a chance. Map of the problematique Plug in baby Butterflies and hurricanes Stockholm syndrome Chef's 💋
1: Origin of Symmetry (best: Bliss) 2: Black Holes and Revelations (Exo-Politics) 3: Absolution (Hysteria, my fav song by Muse) 4: The Resistance (MK Ultra) 5: Showbiz (Unintended) 6: The 2nd Law (Big Freeze) 7: Drones (Reapers) 8: Simulation Theory (The Dark Side) 9: Will Of the People (Ghosts, I Guess🤷♂️)
I feel like Will of the People is better than Simulation Theory. Most of the other picks are about the same as mine though! I think I might have put Showbiz higher and 2nd Law lower but not by much
My personal ranking (+ fave song) 9. Simulation Theory (Algorithm) D Tier 8. Will of the People (Euphoria) C Tier 7. The Resistance (MK Ultra) C Tier 6. I would say you were overly harsh on Will of the people (moderately better than Simulation Theory in my opinion), Showbiz and especially Drones. For me: 1. Origin of Symmetry (S) 2. Black Holes & Revelations (S) 3. Absolution (S) 4. The Resistance (A) 5. Drones (A) 6. Showbiz (B) 7. 2nd Law (B) . . . And then a bit of a gap . . . 8. Will of the People (D) 9. Simulation Theory (F)
ARTV has led me to many artists I love, including Muse, so thanks for this awesome video! If you read this, I hope we see a Beach House ranked one day. My ranking with my favorite song from each: 1. Origin of Symmetry (Bliss) 2. Absolution (Hysteria [top 10 favorites of all time]) 3. Black Holes and Revelations (Map of the Problematique) 4. The Resistance (Undisclosed Desires) 5. The 2nd Law (Madness) 6. Showbiz (Muscle Museum) 7. Drones (The Handler) 8. Simulation Theory (Blockades/Pressure) 9. Will of the People (Verona/Kill or be Killed)
I love sing for absolution and plug in baby but there is one song that has stuck with me since i first listened to it and that is undisclosed desires, so fucking good song
My rank: 1. Absolution 2. Origin of Symmetry 3. Black Holes and Revelations 4. The 2nd Law 5. Resistance/Drones 7. Will of the People 8. Simulation Theory
For me: 9. Simulation Theory 8. Drones 7. The Resistance 6. Will Of The People (This one is really tricky for me to rank because I love the music, but the lyrics are... hit-or-miss to put it mildly) 5. Showbiz 4. The 2nd Law 3. Absolution 2. Origin of Symmetry 1. Black Holes and Revelations
1. Absolution 2. Origin of Symmetry 3. Black Holes and Revelations 4. Showbiz 5. The Resistance 6. Drones 7. The 2nd Law 8. Simulation Theory 9. Will of The People I don’t get how people like The 2nd Law more than The Resistance and Drones
Hard to believe you’d rank 2nd law over the resistance 😂 each to their own tbf My ranking would be: Black Holes & Revelations (excellent) Absolution (excellent) Origin of Symmetry (excellent) Showbiz (excellent for the most part) The Resistance (excellent bar a few duds) The Second Law (good overall but too much filler) Drones (start of the cringe lyrics) Will of the People (like Drones but worse) Simulation Theory (unforgivable)
1) Origin of Symmetry 10/10 2) Absolution 9.8/10 3) Black Holes and Revelations 9.5/10 4) Showbiz 9.3/10 5) The 2nd Law 9/10 6) The Resistance 8.7/10 7) Simulation Theory 8.3/10 8) The Will of the People 7.3/10 9) Drones 4/10 I do not get Drones.
9. Simulation Theory (2018) - the mixing on some of the tracks is awful. Break It to Me and Propaganda are two of the worst Muse songs ever. Dig Down is pretty decent but really a Madness 2.0, Thought Contagion and Pressure are really good and Pressure is underrated af! as an album it’s decent enough, but not something Muse should’ve ever released. 8. Showbiz (1999) - you can easily tell that it’s a debut. while it has some of their most iconic singles from the early years like Muscle Museum and Sunburn, and it still being a quality rock album, i don’t really come back to it all that often. 7. Will of the People (2022) - Muse are capable of so much more.. but strangely it’s kinda grown on me? Kill or Be Killed SLAPS, one of the hardest songs they’ve ever released. Won’t Stand Down is one of my favorite singles this year, Euphoria brings back some of those Glam Rock/Electronic Rock vibes, and Verona is such a chill song. We Are Fcking Fcked is arguably a bad song, but it’s grown on me as dumb fun. Liberation is such a snoozer for me though, that and Ghosts don’t fit the album well imo. 6. Drones (2015) - a great return to form with some hard ass tracks, but i get your gripes with it. Psycho has a great riff but i’ve grown kinda bored of it. Mercy is just Starlight 2.0. Dead Inside is great, Reapers and The Globalist are BOMBASTIC. wish they would do a return to form album like this with their next album, but just a more cohesive and better executed one. 5. The Resistance (2009) - Exogenesis and MK Ultra are on this, so it’s automatically a win for me. some of their most iconic songs like Uprising and Eurasia (i also have a Resistance t-shirt so i’ve always been drawn to this album lol) 4. The 2nd Law (2012) - this album screams UNDERRATED. Supremacy showed that Muse could pull off a nice James Bond-esque song and i really wish they could do a theme song some day. the electronics are super well utilized and as a whole it’s one of the most cohesive Electronic Rock albums of the early 2010s for me. some great use of Dubstep elements too, really pleases the Dubstep fan in me 3. Absolution (2003) - HYSTERIA, literally. a great follow up to Origin, with harder production and riffs, and an arguably better executed vision. interchangeable with The 2nd Law though, which shows how underrated it is imo 2. Origin of Symmetry (2001) - honestly for a long time this was my favorite. Plug In Baby is one of my top 3 Muse songs, and Bliss and Feelin’ Good slap. i really miss this era of Muse, kinda shocking how far their current sound and style is from this era 1. Black Holes and Revelations (2006) - PEAK Muse. i’d find it bizarre if a fan didn’t have this in their top 3 at least. a goated album and my most played Muse. top singles, top deep cuts, just a really great experience!
I found it interesting you called Pressure underrated as I'm fairly confident that was the only song off the album that got any substantial airplay in the UK
In my opinion Simulation Theory is a really good album. Songs like Break it to me could’ve been the usual heavy tracks but they made something new with the strange production. I used to dislike it but now I love it. + The Void is Muse doing a Oos quality song.

9. The 2nd Law
Mine would be
9 simulation theory (was not excited for this at all)
8 will of the people (it's got a few good songs but that's it)
7 showbiz (only because it's the one I've heard the least so don't know it too well)
6 the 2nd law (again got a few good songs, love the isolated systems)
This is where it gets hard
5 Drones (I really enjoyed the album, tho I agree with you in that it has worn out a bit)
4 the resistance (I think this album is brilliant, also love the exogenesis)
Same top 3, different order
3 Absolution (absolutely amazing, only reason it's 3rd is because I listen to the top 2 more often)
2 origins of symmetry (an absolute trip, dark shines is just amazing)
1 black holes and revelations (all time favourite by far, I listen to it in full many many times)
Ugh. Drones is so underrated. I recently did a marathon of the entire catalog and it’s even better than I remembered.
Agreed. Dead inside must be the song of muse I've heard the most
@@misoginainternalizadaopres7131 Reapers and Psycho are also really fucking good! Overall, I love Drones, and it is sooo overrated (just like WOTP is, and it was just released)
@@ElVigas29 I cannot believe someone put Reapers and Psycho in the same sentence, Psycho is one of the most nauseating pieces of rock i’ve ever heard.
@@monoshima6424 bro, not at all. The riff on Psycho is pretty cool. Not the best one by Muse, fact, but really cool
Love Drones. But the final 4 songs are weak.
Can anyone else share my love for showbiz please? UGH, yes, they might be simpler, shallower and radioheadesque; but there is no one song I forget, even the hated Overdue gets stuck in your head for ages. Sunburn is a gem, Showbiz is easily top 10 ever muse songs, Unintended is pure beauty, Escape and Falling down are nice, Spiral Static is unique and COME IN MY CAVEEEE iz gold 😭
i'm not the biggest Muse fan but Showbiz might be my second fav (following Origin)
I particularly love digging into those EPs/singles, some really good b-side material & alternate versions from that era

Map of The Problematique at #2, glad to see that song getting the love it deserves
It’s the best Muse Song. It’s unbelievably good
Every single album has something unique that makes it good. You cannot classify a song. Everyone has a different opinion. Sometimes I'm in a mood where I want calm music. Sometimes it's the opposite. Muse's different records fill that need.
WOTP is objectivley ass
Unpopular opinion but despite agreeing with your ranking, I'd argue Muse hasn't put out a bad album. I still had a lot of fun with Will of the People. I still loved Simulation Theory. Drones had The Handler for goodness sake. The last three albums had their bad songs but as a whole, they grow on you with repeated listens.
100%, WotP is extremely underrated imo
The only album I kind of consider bad is Simulation Theory but it has it's redeeming qualities. I just can't stand Propaganda, Something Human, and Get Up and Fight
That being said, Will of the People is a solid album in my opinion. Not their best work but it is underappreciated for sure
Might be boring but Time is Running Out is my favourite song. It’s the first song I ever heard from them.
Deadstar was always a favourite Muse song of mine. Very rarely mentioned though.
I don't know why so many people hate Compliance, it's very catchy and it's a Muse like track.
It's one of their better synth pop tracks...but that isn't saying much. Still nothing on Undisclosed Desires
The lyrics to me are extremely tired and corny and you can’t really ignore it because the vocals are the forefront instrument of the track
I don't care for the chorus but I love the rest of it. Compliance > Propaganda.
I feel compliance is the worst muse song that the band has put out
I can't not hear a minor key Van Halen's Jump in that synthline. I actually liked most of Will of the People but Compliance is bottom tier for me.

I just saw Muse live and they were amazing! Even the new songs sounded better live
I love how high you put The 2nd Law on this. Great album
The 2nd Law is a masterpiece in my opinion. So many instruments.

Early fans will be very protective of the early albums & will automatically say any new albums are not as good.
I agree, I recently relistened to Will of the People on vinyl and I think it's really fucking good and simulation theory I'd really good as well
@@willnewlands9588 Not sure why Muse fans wouldn't like it. It's a 'greatest hits' album. They are still a strong creative force.

Blockades on Simulation Theory is a great song

Edit: Solid top 20, I couldn’t pick my own off the top of my head, too hard
Here’s my ranking:
#9: Simulation Theory (3/10)
It’s hot garbage. I like The Dark Side and Pressure, Something Human would be decent if the mixing weren’t so awful, that’s it. Propoganda and Break It To Me are the two worst Muse songs by far, it’s barely a competition.
#8: Will of the People (6.5/10)
Kill Or Be Killed is a banger, Verona is a sweet song, Won’t Stand Down has a great breakdown, and, hot take, I really like We Are Fricking Fricked. But there are so many abysmal low points, even parts of songs I like that ruin them. The production is sloppy, Matt’s lyrics are getting cookie cutter, it’s just really disappointing overall.
#7: Drones (7/10)
Some of my favorite Muse songs are on here, like Reapers and The Globalist. Overall it’s a good album experience, but there are some songs that are so boring and forgettable from a band that’s typically anything but boring. Defector is the most forgettable song they’ve ever made, it’s not even a competition.
#6: The Resistance (7/10)
Pretty solid overall, but I don’t revisit it very often with the exception of the first two songs.
#5: Showbiz (7/10)
You can tell it’s a debut album. They’re still figuring out what they want to be at this point, so at times it sounds like a Walmart Radiohead. That being said, there aren’t really any bad songs, and Sunburn, Muscle Museum and the title track are mind-blowing.
#4: The 2nd Law (8.5/10)
I see why this album gets hate, but it’s honestly really good. Supremacy, Madness, Survival, Animals, Explorers, I can go on. It’s a really cool concept album that’s just the right amount of experimental.
#3: Absolution (9/10)
An excellent album. Every song is incredible and the whole album comes together to create a stellar rock experience. Hysteria is a classic, and the deep cuts are just as great. Butterflies and Hurricanes blew me away the first time I heard it.
#2: Black Holes and Revelations (9/10)
One of the most epic rock albums of the 2000s. Every song is somehow better than the last, all culminating in the masterpiece that is Knights of Cydonia. This album is just unforgettable.
#1: Origin of Symmetry (9.5/10)
One of my favorite albums ever. I seriously think it rivals any Queen album. Every song is near perfect. The Nina Simone cover is one of the best cover songs of all time. This is also the album that started my record collection, so it holds a special place in my heart. Muse has some duds, but this album alone is worth the deep dive.
*me who thinks break it to me & propaganda are really really good*
Break it to me is EASILY Top 5 Muse of the last century

Will of the People, tho not my favorite, beats Simulation Theory and Drones easily in my opinion
If you moved The 2nd Law from #7 to #4, our entire list would be exactly the same 😂. I love that you have Will of the People in the middle where it rightfully belongs
My favourite album is Show Biz a very beautiful album to listen to. The vocals are sensitive and at times torn.

I genuinely like Simulation Theory, more than Drones, 2nd Law or the new one whose name I haven't memorised yet but sounds like all the stuff teenage Matt's bandmates vetoed. The synth speaks to me. Definitely can't argue with your top three though. Think I'd go:
9, New one
8, Drones
7, Second Law
6, Resistance
5, Simulation Theory
4, Showbiz
3, Black Holes
2, Absolution
1, Symmetry
Same, I thought I was the only one who thinks that Simulation Theory isn't that bad. Because at least they're trying something different there and synthwave wasn't really a big genre at that time so they weren't selling out. Synthwave futuristic dystopian style fit perfectly with Muse but they got blasted for it. Well. maybe it's because there's only 4-5 tracks that are synthwave-y, while the rest are the same old generic rock lol.
Their 3 album run from OOS to BHAR is insane, truly legendary. Easy S tier.
A tier? Call me crazy but I don't think muse has an A tier album, maybe BHAR in a bad day lmao
B tier: The Resistance, Showbiz and The 2nd Law, Resistance was the record where they realized they could milk tracks like Uprising to death, I still think its enjoyable though.
Showbiz is alright, just a rough debut
The 2nd Law its always conflicting with me lmao, some days I like it, other days I hate it.
C Tier: Drones and Simulation Theory
Drones just feels boring
I did like a few tracks off simulation theory, mostly because the synthwave 80s aesthetic was always great to me, but a good chunk of the tracks just feel empty or the same
D Tier: WOTP easily, such a dissapointment EVEN FOR NEW MUSE Standards.
I really don't understand the Will of the People hate. It's not "elite" Muse but it is miles ahead of Simulation Theory and nobody can convince me otherwise
The first time I ever heard Muse was when my mom had Starlight as her ringtone lol!

2. Showbiz - A Tier
3. Origin of Symmetry - A Tier
4. Black Holes and Revelations - A Tier
5. Absolution - B Tier
6. Will of the People - B Tier
7. The 2nd Law - B Tier
8. Drones - C Tier
9. Simulation Theory - D Tier
9. Simulation Theory - No explanation needed
8. The Resistance - Never been super fond of it. The singles are good, other than that each other song has major problems to me
7. Will of the People - I think people are much too critical of this album. I think it’s really good overall, although I will agree that the slower tracks don’t seem complete (Ghosts and Verona)
6. Showbiz - Some insane songs, lots of filler, overall mostly positive. It’s not as polished as a lot of their albums but of course it’s their first album
5. The 2nd Law - Very different but very good still, super consistent, tbh I love other tracks a lot more than the singles in this case it’s just a really solid album
4. Drones - Very hard, very consistent as well, it was really close with these last two tbh but I just feel I walk away from this album with more substance

Feeling good murder the vibe of the album i prefer absolution just for that.
@@guts9160 I agree it's the only song that doesn't really fit, but it's pointless to let yourself be affected by it, it's just one song after all. They probably put it in cause it had more radio potential.

I don't have a particular issue with any of their albums to date (I actually really enjoyed Simulation Theory, like Will more with each listen, and honestly worship the ground Exogenesis walks on).
I do join you in bowing down before Map of the Problematique.
Anyone that doesn't think Absolution is their magnum opus is mentally distant from the point of the Muse sound
Kill or be killed is one of the best songs ever made

Don't understand the hate for WotP. It really worked for me, being both nostalgic and new at the same time. Say what you want about the 2nd Law, but Unsustainable was INSANE live during the 2nd Law tour!
Really do you think that wotp is better than absolution? Ok, I respect your opinion, but I would like to now why
Showbiz is the most underrated album. ST and T2L are evil viruses of satan, and I wish I could "unlisten" them.
Completely disagree but okay
I couldn't get through the latest album. :( it just felt like everything I already heard but watered down or formulaic like they just doing the same thing over and over. The last album I've listened all the way through was black holes. I'm going to give the other albums a chance.

8. Simulation Theory (Blockades/Pressure)
9. Will of the People (Verona/Kill or be Killed)
I love sing for absolution and plug in baby but there is one song that has stuck with me since i first listened to it and that is undisclosed desires, so fucking good song
My rank:
1. Absolution
2. Origin of Symmetry
3. Black Holes and Revelations
4. The 2nd Law
5. Resistance/Drones
7. Will of the People
8. Simulation Theory
My man really put T2L in ‘A’ tier, and at number 4 behind the holy trinity? I mean, colour me surprised.
i think the 2nd law deserve the s-tier, and #1 album will be OOS, everything else pretty much the same
It's obvious that almost every oldest Muse fan's favorite album is Absolution!
Every Muse fan praises this album. I mean the "old fans" .
Is obvious!
For me:
9. Simulation Theory
8. Drones
7. The Resistance
6. Will Of The People (This one is really tricky for me to rank because I love the music, but the lyrics are... hit-or-miss to put it mildly)
5. Showbiz
4. The 2nd Law
3. Absolution
2. Origin of Symmetry
1. Black Holes and Revelations
Yeah Will of the People is not a lyrical masterpiece 😂. Musically I can get behind it tho, fun listen for sure
1. Absolution
2. Origin of Symmetry
3. Black Holes and Revelations
4. Showbiz
5. The Resistance
6. Drones
7. The 2nd Law
8. Simulation Theory
9. Will of The People
I don’t get how people like The 2nd Law more than The Resistance and Drones
I mostly agree with this ranking except I might personally switch Origin of Symmetry and Black Holes and Revelations.
Hard to believe you’d rank 2nd law over the resistance 😂 each to their own tbf
My ranking would be:
Black Holes & Revelations (excellent)
Absolution (excellent)
Origin of Symmetry (excellent)
Showbiz (excellent for the most part)
The Resistance (excellent bar a few duds)
The Second Law (good overall but too much filler)
Drones (start of the cringe lyrics)
Will of the People (like Drones but worse)
Simulation Theory (unforgivable)
I would say that most of their albums are solid but since The 2nd Law the quality has dipped. Will of the People is shockingly bad.
Last 3 have generally been terrible IMO other than a few songs on each album. Not very optimistic that their next album will get them back on track
What's the problem with 2nd law they were really inspired in that album.
@@guts9160 nothing that’s why I said since the 2nd Law
1) Origin of Symmetry 10/10
2) Absolution 9.8/10
3) Black Holes and Revelations 9.5/10
4) Showbiz 9.3/10
5) The 2nd Law 9/10
6) The Resistance 8.7/10
7) Simulation Theory 8.3/10
8) The Will of the People 7.3/10
9) Drones 4/10
I do not get Drones.
The song will of the people is honenstly amazing tbh...
Origins seems to be a favourite, no clues for what WILL be bottom ! 😂
Fans of bands often say 'I like the early stuff' & 'the new stuff isn't as good'.
However Muse have been pretty consistent since 1999.
@@adamcollins915 i will wait until the loading and watching of the video and make my comment , looking forward to it !
@@mikewest1542 I enjoy their new stuff as much as the old stuff. But appreiciate fans of bands will always say 'the early stuff was better'.
5. The Resistance (2009) - Exogenesis and MK Ultra are on this, so it’s automatically a win for me. some of their most iconic songs like Uprising and Eurasia (i also have a Resistance t-shirt so i’ve always been drawn to this album lol)
4. The 2nd Law (2012) - this album screams UNDERRATED. Supremacy showed that Muse could pull off a nice James Bond-esque song and i really wish they could do a theme song some day. the electronics are super well utilized and as a whole it’s one of the most cohesive Electronic Rock albums of the early 2010s for me. some great use of Dubstep elements too, really pleases the Dubstep fan in me
3. Absolution (2003) - HYSTERIA, literally. a great follow up to Origin, with harder production and riffs, and an arguably better executed vision. interchangeable with The 2nd Law though, which shows how underrated it is imo
2. Origin of Symmetry (2001) - honestly for a long time this was my favorite. Plug In Baby is one of my top 3 Muse songs, and Bliss and Feelin’ Good slap. i really miss this era of Muse, kinda shocking how far their current sound and style is from this era
1. Black Holes and Revelations (2006) - PEAK Muse. i’d find it bizarre if a fan didn’t have this in their top 3 at least. a goated album and my most played Muse. top singles, top deep cuts, just a really great experience!
I found it interesting you called Pressure underrated as I'm fairly confident that was the only song off the album that got any substantial airplay in the UK
finally a ranking with BH&R in 1st…:)
In my opinion Simulation Theory is a really good album.
Songs like Break it to me could’ve been the usual heavy tracks but they made something new with the strange production.
I used to dislike it but now I love it.
+ The Void is Muse doing a Oos quality song.
Simulation Theory is my least favorite Muse album, but The Void is top 10 material, especially the piano version of the song. What a phenominal song
how on earth was space dementia not on your top 10, let alone your top 20?
Probably because it's my list, not yours? Perhaps ;)
@@artvjon How is Propaganda not in your top 10, let alone your top 20?.........I'm kidding btw 😂
Absolution top 1! My favorite too
Black Holes was a bit of an omen as far as where the band would go & start falling off
for me its
S: Absolution, OOS, Will Of The People, 2nd Law
A: Black Holes, Simulation Theory, The Resistance, Showbiz
B: Drones
I love them all ❤🔥
