please like this video :) Facebook: / ghostlyrich Twiiter: / ghostlyrich just showing you how to change spark plugs on a pontiac sunfire hope its helpful
I had my Sunfire seems 2004 and I never had a single problem with it. It's one of the most reliable cars that I have ever owned. I had a Camry brand new and it started giving me problems at 50,000. I sold the Camry and got the Sunfire. It has 156,789 miles never had a problem still. Great car
Thanks for the video. This is the same exact motor --Ecotec 2.2---in my 2004 Chevy Cavalier. A couple of extra notes: If the spark plugs are not pre-gapped (I bought autolites and they were not) the spark plug gap should be set to .042 also I did not take the 4 rubber boots off the housing/cover. Also if you do not have di-electric grase you can use vaseline. Put a little on the end of the spark plug and also some inside the 4 rubber boots.
2004 Pontiac Sunfire/changed spark plugs (AC DELCO Iridium)/also replaced the boots between coil and plug. I watched this video first and you make some good points such as vacuuming the top before removing the plugs. I also bought a magnet to lift the spark plugs out. They are in there deep. I would not recommend bending the metal clip as you did in the beginning. You risk breaking, stretching the metal, and the paint will crack off. Take your time and go slow. New plugs/car runs great!
thanks for the helpfull info. i havent had a problem doing it with the dielectric only but little bit of anti seize never hurts. as for sockets i just said what i found worked thanks for more info on the socket sizes.
Thank you much for showing us how to do this step by step. BTW, the 02 and newer Sunfires are very nice cars. AKA reliable, good mpg, handles good, comfy and have some pep. I wish Pontiac did not go under.
Actually, for the Sunfire it's a 5/8 inch spark plug socket with a 3/8 inch drive. And when you put the plugs in, you FIRST put anti-seize on the threads of the plugs then dielectric grease on the top part that attaches to the boots.
do you have a alarm ??? if so the starter relay might be messed. could be the starter i would take it to a local mechanic to diagnose if you get uncomfortable
Good video. How many km's does your 2003 sunfire have and what have you replaced so far ? I'm looking at buying a 2005 Sunfire 4-door with 5 spd manual 88,000 km. Never had a GM car before, only GMC Sierra and Chevy Astro. Never had a problem with them just regular maintenance. Not sure what to expect with the Sunfire/Cavalier.
Good video. How many km's does your Sunfire have ? Any problems you ran into ? I'm looking at a 2005 Sunfire 4-door with 5 spd manual 88,000 km Never had a GM car before, only GMC Sierra truck and Chevy Astro van. No problem with both of them, just regular maintenance. Not sure what to expect with these Sunfires/Cavaliers.
Any advice on what's wrong with my 2000 Pontiac sunfire. It won't turn over and start it just clicks. It's not the battery or the spark plugs just replaced them (good video btw really helped). Could it be the starter has went out? Any video how to replace the starter
Them spark plug sockets with the rubber boot in them are ok but I thank they could have made them a little better when they put them in the socket. but Just bought the magnetic spark plug socket and it works wonders!!!!!
Well problem kind of is parts because pontiacs arent made anymore but the car was great for what it was. Just wrote it offf the other day because it was in a accident. The major thing i dont like about the sunfire is the headlights i find they dont shoot light great on the road and cant really put hids in them because the headlights are so big and would blind every one and you cant buy projection lenses for for them
Should always check the gap in the spark plug, even if you're getting them pregapped, good practice just in case you get a wonky one like I've gotten in the past. Other than that good video.
check out sparkplugs. com for model numbers for plugs needed or napa or lordco or any other autoparts store should have it on file. they do not use spark plug wires they use a coil pack. "you dont change them like wires"

Dielectric grease doesn't increase connectivity
Your manual will say what plugs are recommened. For Sunfire, it's AC Delco or NGK.
no prob hope it helped. please "like" the video if you get a chance
i did not use a torque wrench couldnt tell yea sorry mate

hows everyones car now that some years have passed lol
Ngks are good plugs
no clue on what bending and clipping he is talking about
It's actually 5/8 not 16mm
may be turn the video off and just run the audio, that would take off any distraction
Yeah...not going to take advice from someone who's too lazy to detach the cable hold. Who bends car parts?! Very amateur!
Every mechanic will have a good laugh at this one. If you haven’t bent car parts you are dare i say it (amateur) 😂
