Field Of Forgotten Classics - New Project Car, Abandoned 1957 Chevy Convertible?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 17 лип 2021
- On the way out to the Miles Of Mayhem, I popped in to a classic car wrecking yard to check out the inventory. Well wouldn't you know, there was a full row of TRI 5 Chevies! Naturally I had to go over every single one and adopt one for myself.
I've been looking for a ratty 57 Chevy hardtop to either restore or customize into a ragtop.
The hardtop and convertible tri 5 Chevy's all share a lower roof line than the sedans. While anything is possible a 2 or 4 door hardtop makes for a better convertible conversion. This 4 door was dirt cheap and it shows, but a little love here and there and we'll have ourselves a roadster.
Who want's to see a 4 door 57 BelAir chopped into a 2 door convertible?
Leave me a few comments down below, love to read em.
Also buy a shirt so I can buy more hood scoops:

Blue skies an green grass an old cars an trucks as far as the eyes can see that's heaven for me ......
What do I call a field of old cars with nothing else in sight? Paradise!
This is the kind of travel tourism I’m into. I’d plan a big trip, camp and explore for days. Maybe even come home with a few souvenirs.
Thats what you call a 'Field of Dreams' !!I would go there just to walk around all day!
Right he could charge admission lol , I would pay it .
field of four doors
Field of dreams for sure..it's so cool to see all those relic's in one spot!!
Necessity is the mother of invention. Good Job Dan ! Thumbs Up !
Thanks for the walk around
He got some gold there. Cool place.
I agree!
Beautiful iron................... 👍👍👍
Of course you bought one.
Dani is definitely a keeper. You are very lucky.
Good walk around worth the wind noise keep up the good work man
Yup, I just turned my volume down some...awesome Dreamsville!
Wow great collection! That 4 door hardtop has a really cool roofline!
My 57 is a Belair 4dr hardtop. Was painted Canyon Coral with white top. So faded out it looks more silver Grey and white. Black n silver seats. I've had it since 1980. It has a rebuilt 400 small block. Changing to 4 speed from Powerglide. Has factory power steering.
Glad to see someone saved them.
Definitely A MUST GO To Destination Dan! Thx For The Quick Tour! 😊
Glad ur going home....enjoy ur shop content!!!
Enjoying the videos, thanks
WOW WHAT A GREAT PLACE
Next time you guys go out there make sure to have Dani take the drone and do a fly over to get a bird's eye view of the place and give you a video catalog of what's all there
From a 4 door to a 2 door convertible would be a pretty cool project. He's got a nice collection of rusty gold! Danny's dream back yard!
AWESOME YARD.. FIELD OF DREAMS !!
That's awesome place good to see as well 👍🏻😀🤙🏼
That is the best organization I have ever seen. You could do a whole episode just looking at all the odd cars
The 54 Chevy sedan delivery @10:13 is a really rare bird these days.
I saw that...(Dan didn't bat an eye)
THOSE 4-DOOR HARDTOPS ARE RARE & AWESOME CARS!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU SAVE THIS ONE!!
Wow , lots of great stuff .
I was screaming at the screen when you walked past the early 70's Formula Firebird ! I am a big Firebird fan and all the others too but my first car was a Firebird so go crazy when I see the early Trans Ams and Formulas
I am with you man wanted to see it bad to
I saw that too. Pack a lunch and Rome Around all day!
@@rexgexnortowmader5165I would love to buy it but since I am in another country, I don't think that is possible so walk around to see that beautiful car would have made my day !
@@rexgexnortowmader5165 Hopefully they see my post and when they go back to pickup the tri five they could do a one minute video of that beautiful Formula Firebird if they have the time , But I want to see more of all the cars in that wrecking yard
D & D, Dan, wow, that is a cool vintage car collection, I would have liked to seen more of the vintage truck section! Thanks for taking us along!!! God Bless!!!
Great yard !!!! This guy must have had a hard on for 4 doors !!!!
That place is awesome 👌 I'm guessing that you will be back there for sure 👍
TY both as always!
wow, thats a field of dd dreams there...so many potential 4 to 2 door swaps....in ontario thats a sight that would NEVER bee seen.ive never seen so many 55-57s in one place
Just add the lawnmower and it is heaven. Really clean yard, must empty the trash before allowing them into the yard. I would get lost in a yard like that
Thanks for taking us along
This will be fun to watch. I never could handle welding and bodywork, so projects like this are beyond me.
“I’ll just turn the camera off and meet you over there” Nooooo! That was the coolest walk around ever.
If heaven isn't a field with old rusty cars I'll be disappointed.. :)
When I was a little kid I wanted my own scrapyard,, 😅😊
Dan definitely knows where the good stuff is. Didn't bore us with any k car crap. Just went for the good stuff. Tri fives. 70 Chevelles. 70 monte carlos. 64 Impalas. Nothing but the best.
I have not seen so many tri-five chevys in my whole life. Would like to spend days just looking and dreaming as what to do with so many to choose from. Dan wish you and Dani owned this so you would always doing tri-five for us U tubers
Cool Yard..
Thanks for the tour of your back and the extra effects WIND
That’s a KILLER shirt
Lots of cool iron there ! My dad just bought a '58 Chevy 4 door hardtop. It's pretty nice, but he traded a '51 Studebaker pickup for it. That has a 455 with a Toronado transaxle, so front wheel drive !
Very cool Dan ,Dani speed shop yeah that's a 57 sport sedan bel/air a convertible yeah great tour only 2 hrs away from home cool
Make the man an offer for everything land and cars lol you would never have to search for another project just go out and pick another 1 lol
Go for it! I 'm doing the same thing to my 57 htp
That's what I want my yard to look like! 😁✌🏻🇺🇸🇨🇦
Cool video
I wish . I have on in the garage!
Reminds me of Lambrecht Chevrolet in Nebraska USA.. love the fields of old cars like that!!
My great grandma lived in Pierce, Nebraska. We went right by Lambrecht to get to her house. Stuck a camera in one of the windows and took some pics, which I can't find. Lots of low miles old Chevys next to and across from that place. Did you see the auction?
@@erikalbertson7483 unfortunately only online, didn’t make it in person.. they’re the ones with so many vehicles under 100 miles, I think even a truck from the 50s with 1 miles on it
@@erikalbertson7483 wish you could find those pics!
@@chriswilson4349 watching a vid on it now. I didn’t go to the auction either, but watched some of it online. When I was a kid, we walked around looking at the cars that were outside. Some with less than 20 miles on them ! That was late 70’s early 80’s.
@@erikalbertson7483 would have loved to see that in person too! You’ve got some real memories there!
Always liked the tri 5 but the Pontiacs with the stainless runner on the hood speaks to me. As I am a product of the 70s, it has to be a two door. I think I would pay to visit that yard.
Alot of hidden gems in that field, you have a new honey hole for cars / parts now! ✌
Thats a cool place. Don't see that many places that organize. Thanks Dan and Dani👍
Cool video Dan. Funny as hell, when Danni dropped the F-bomb. I hope you get started on the Black Widow project soon. Really looking forward to that one. Thanks for the video.
where all tri -five four doors go to die . and then get rescued by brave souls like Dan , doing the chevy god's work .
Wow, nice toy store. Hell I’d live in the camper there just to play in the lot! LoL
Haha
Was really trying to eye the Vega, sitting next to the Camaro race car. Always loved them, especially the one with the round, Camaro looking grill.
Nice yard I just passed by there coming back from Alberta. Now you know where you next couple projects could be.
Awesome inventory. Thanks guys for showing it.
i'm glad Dani dressed you today and you did'nt go out there with shorts and flip flops on.yeah i really like the 71 monte carlo body style, you should put one in the plan book.
great wrecking yard, thanks for the take along.
Wow,that place is huge,it's awesome
Man I love those montes
About half of the original brochures for the 57 Chevy showed the 4 door hardtop as they are simply beautiful with that roofline. But, you don't want to convert one of these to 2 doors (or convertible) as you would need to re-roof and re-floor it (the decklid filler is also completely different). The cowl and rear half of quarters is pretty much all you would be saving from the tub. Would be a shame anyway! I have a 57, 210 4 door hardtop myself and never get tired of just looking at it. Cruising with a car load of friends is also nicer when everyone isn't climbing over that clumsily folded down front seat to get in the back. Roll all the windows down and just enjoy life. The opera-hall like roof line is also fantastic for rear speakers, the way the rear window wraps around great for visibility ... just a fun car. And think how many people you will get to argue with when you properly refer to it as a "sport sedan"!
that was awesome thanks for the tour
Wow, awesome stuff!!!!
I really like your vids. You are a real genuine guy. Thanks.
That place is huge Thank you both for sharing i think that place was out of a dream :-) No post windows on the 57 very nice look good with no post on Two door
Wow, I wish I could get just one of those 57's but I'm all the way in Australia. Thanks Dan. You are a lucky man, that's a cool car you got.
This must be what heaven looks like to car people..
You need to do that panel truck you walked past white with orange you could make that so cool
very cool
Very cool place! Thanks for the video.
Love those places. Fields of dreams. Lots of saveable cars there. Its a shame when those old timers pass on.... these places disappear.
I came here because of "DD Speed Shop" 👌
Haha
Great Yard Dan !!!!!
This is cool.
Check out all the 57's
Big fan of the 57's
Hi from Down Under Australia.
Right again Dan, 57 2dr hardtop one of the best looking cars ever made.
Love looking at all the old rides cool
That is my dream back yard, I would love to buy one of the cars or trucks. Keep up the great work and God Bless you guys.
Love it. My first car was a sports sedan. I called a 4 door hardtop. She was my first love LOL.
Amazing yard! Definitely one of the last of the good ole yards!
I love walking through old salvage yards.
Looks like it has potential! Pretty straight. Looking forward to the build!
I know that place. You were in my stomping grounds. Great place to look through!!! Love it there!!!
The chevelle is nice I had a 72 I enjoyed it so much
57 4-door hardtop: rarest of yhe 57s. Even les built than the convertable.
Looking forward to seeing this one being built
Love the 71 Monte Carlos...also love the years with the swivel seats
Any of them would be cool daily I think
Thats a heck if a lot of tri5 parts, good find!
Cool junk yard it had a little bit of everything 👍
Sherman and Associates in Michigan sells all the sheetmetal to convert a hardtop to convertible.
Not a 4 door hardtop
All I have to say to this is WOW! So many different projects out here. Love the car u just bought, maybe you could customize it to make that top removable. Have your convertible, but be able to but the hard top back on it. With your fabricating skills I bet you can make it happen!!!
Pretty cool,Dan!
A field of dreams. Guess you have found your utopia!
That junkyard is what Dan Invisions heaven would be. All tri five and all the parts a feller would need!
Haha yes
I am drawn to the '58 Chev's also....
This guy is living the dream!
Really well organized lot. That brown Ford van looked like the one I had back in '79. Looks like a lot of great starter cars. Or at least part cars. The '57 will be a great soft top. Be safe and stay well.
Where is this? I know its years ago but rewatching old videos
Hi Dan. Man, cool junkyard. Sweet score!
