Uploaded on my birthday lol
+8bitkeroro
happy birthday
+8bitkeroro Happy Birthday to your cortical neurons!
Happy bday!!!
+Kelsey Dietz XD
+8bitkeroro happy birth M8
Omg that ending song xD
aaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
-I hope you don't get a copyright strike for using Happy Birthday!-
*Edit:* Thank you for the response. I wasn't aware of this recent court decision!
+Rachel Maxwell Courts recently ruled that Happy Birthday is in the public domain. www.theguardian.com/business/2015/sep/23/us-judge-rules-happy-birthday-is-public-domain-throws-out-copyright-claim
+hockeynewfoundland Thanks for letting me know! :)
+hockeynewfoundland It's not public domain, it's just _not_ owned by Warner/Chappell Music.
This has the same _effect_ as it being public domain, for now, but theoretically someone else could come along with a claim of owning the copyright. It's unlikely, but possible. So in effect, creators can now use Happy Birthday with impunity.
+Jim Cullen (Zagorath) No, once there is no copy right claim by any entity it is permanently in the public domain, someone can come along and make a derivative and copyright it but for the original piece of work it is public.
Princess Haley Praesent Happy Birthday has not had a definitive decision that "there is no copyright claim by any entity" on it. It is extremely unlikely that someone will come forth and claim copyright on it at this point, but it _is_ theoretically possible.
For all _practical_ purposes, it is public domain. But from a legal perspective, technically, it is not yet.
When you think about it, we're all 13.772 billion years old.
Maybe even older since you don't know when everything came into existance. Before the big bang everything already existed. We just don't know in what state it was. ( probably energy )
Bluefrog2000
True, there might not be any 'beginning'.
The first law, also known as Law of Conservation of Energy, states that energy cannot be created or destroyed in an isolated system.
Singularity however violates any Laws of physics
+Rishi Anand no laws of fisics can be violated. that only means our theorie isn't correct.
It can. Read about singularity en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravitational_singularity.
Anyway in simpler context you know that around black hole, gravitation is so strong that even light can't escape it. Similarly other rules of physics doesn't exist around black hole, inside its event horizon. Black hole is a kind of gravitational singularity, similar to big bang.
Physics is not so universal, not even if you understand everything. In another example, quantum mechanics is also probalistic, not deterministic.
Hahaha, happy birthday to everyone who's birthday is today! Mine just so happens to be tomorrow~!
+Koceta GM Mine is in 2 days....
So close to having an unexpected birthday video on my birthday.
Happy early birthday to you then!
Haha! Everyone here who has a birthday in early/mid november, are you a Valentine's baby? I know I am~!
Mine is Saturday! Happy birthday to us :-)
+Danielle Davis same
I hate birthdays, it's a countdown to death
Maia Kentner In certain cultures (which escaped my memory) death is a really happy time!
I believe my 15 year older brother is acting like a 2 year old almost everyday
Xd
lolol
Is that nose ring new or am I just really oblivious?
+MapleBear I didn't even notice until you said something, then I went back and re-watched to check. :s
+MapleBear She had the ring since a couple of months or so. So yeah, there are more video's where she has the ring, but not many.
+R MH Same. XD
drphu Who cares?
+DrPhu good thing u with ur 1940s viewpoint aren't her BF 😅 and she lives to please herself and not random 40 y/o guys lmao
This is the most uplifting thing I've seen from science in a long time. Thanks.
Brilliant. Thanks for sharing!
Why is it that NOBODY can sing "Happy Birthday to You" in tune? It has to be the most mis-sung tune in history.
copyright law
Not anymore, it was ruled as public domain last year.
for anyone born on February 28th 1984, congratulations. You're 1000 000 000 seconds old today.
It is kind of funny that the video was released on my birthday. Also nice video; keep it up. :)
I'm going to be 46 tomorrow. I am not pleased.
Maia Kentner
Well, Happy Birthday, young'un.
Maia Kentner
Wait til you turn 46!
You're talking to someone who turned 25 at the end of 1994 You weren't even in kindergarten then!
Maia Kentner
hahaha
+Eric Taylor
Actually, you're 13.772 billion years old.
manictiger
Well the subatomic particles that makes up my body will be that old, but they haven't been me that long. Not even 46 years. The atoms that make up my body have only been a part of me anywhere from about 20 years to a few seconds.
Every breath I take changes out atoms in my body.
Yay! Great vid as always! :D
If people sang that on my birthday I wouldn't dislike birthdays so much.
THIS IS COOL! I love your factoids!
I actally learnt something new. Thanks!
This video was updated a day before my birthday!
Love your close-up shots, you look stunning.
my age is the bomb
The question was never awnswered!!
my name is jessica and it's my birthday soon so i was singing along to myself at the beginning and then she said my name and i freaked out so hard
absolutely love your accent vanessa.
Wow its my birthday today :) I do feel lucky.
+JamesFLivingstone Happy Birthday!
yay it's my birthday too! Happy Birthday to us!
+Moonbeam Wait, guys, it's illegal to have a birthday publicly or say Happy Birthday! But the internet is too lazy to get us.
Link Morris When did it become illegal?
Moonbeam Random internet laws, since the beginning of it.
Love your videos they are absolutely fabulous
This kind of comforting. That 7 yrs every cell change could mean my 7 year old memories could belong to the parts of me that were replaced. And the mems I make now would be for the cells that replace the ones that make up me.
Happy birthday dear... Jessica!
You are the female version of Vsauce lol
Vsauce is the male version of BrainCraft.
Esteban Menchaca they should do more Collabs :/
Max Clasher Didn't know they did collabs lol
They did once
and short too.
Hey, @BrainCraft , I've recently watched this sci-fi themed show on discovery science with Adam Savade. They also talked about the cells that stay in your body since birth and they also mentioned the heart. Although that episode was made in 2011 I think. Do you know anything about that?
LOVE THE SONG
I thought you were going to talk about things like the egg your mom carried is this old so technically your this old or the slerm your dad carried and such. Or even bringing up the fact that we have atoms that came from an exploded star so we would technically be billions of years old.
Well, if you look at it that way then we are all as old as the universe. But what really makes us is configuration of particles, not the particles themselves.
+Darius P That's not true. No atoms existed at the moment of the big bang, and most of the atoms bigger than hydrogen didn't exist until they were made by stars.
Delta X I said particles, those are composed of energy (basically). All energy is as old as the universe, presumably, therefore my comment.
+Invader Zim aaaargh, its that hippy bullshit again... we are one with the universe, we are universe, life is eternal blah, blah, blah. we are in essence information, not the matter which holds the information. and for all practical purposes that information gets drowned and dissolved in this universe pretty fucking quick. even the genes, dont be fooled... btw, dont mind me, its just a rant
*points at the other side of the road* Vsauce is that way mate
that ending. jeeze
I enjoy your videos.
Love the song at the end... AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Nice nose ring. Have you had it in any previous videos? I've never noticed it before.
I love your version of the happy birthday song because the actual happy birthday song is copyrighted LOL
Not anymore it's not... a judge ruled otherwise.
And even if it was copyrighted, the right to use it as public domain would have come in the US in 2030 (little over a decade away) and in the EU in 2016 (last year).
No Carbon14 in my body! I live in a bubble. You ever see the Seinfeld episode about the bubble boy? ... That's me!
ooo can you do one on ptsd and hypersensitivity and memory loss?
I love this video
My Ears Bled at the end OUCH!!
3.5 months left!
So you are saying that one of the few parts of you that is as old as you are is the part of you that makes you you? Trippy.
She deserves more Subs....
Soooooo.... if I wanna know how old my adopted pets actually are, I measure the Carbon-14 atoms in their brains?
not mr whiskers!
Yes, but they would need to die first because you would need a sample of their brain. Also not sure how hard it is to get that (is there a company that carbon-dates stuff for you??)
Holy sh*t this was uploaded my birthday!!
This is interesting because when you think about it, those are basically the part of your brain that make you, you!
I just got back from my birthday party so this is interesting
Cool vid.
10 seconds in and the video wasn't hit with copyright.
That ending though
what's the name of the song before ending birthday song?
Sorry ladies, you can't touch. This skin is barely legal.
Like the nose ring, subtle but cute.
I'm 14 billion years old.
so he is the one responsible for big bang....hmm
BAM
no your not 14 billion years old for any reasons, one of them being is people don't know how long the universe is, and the big bang is a theory not fact people should not think about it as fact just because most people do. It does not make sense for people to do this if they ever looked at what people believe hundreds of years ago.
I'm 180 billion
Jonas Anselmo I was born in the year 374 B.C i saw everything. World Wars, Jesus, The great fire of london and much more.
mind=blown.
'Dat outro...
"She was screaming... AAAAAHHHH *pulls earbuds out of ears*"
hey, i watched some of your videos now, i liked them, because they are good, but i had a feeling that said you should speak about the details/facts in one subject more. For example in this video, i think it would've benn interesting to hear how old are my fingernails or you could've done an infograpic of the entire body.
I'm 13.7 billion years old; the energy that makes up my body was created in the big bang.
Just a thought,
the cortex is formed before you born, so isn't it that your cerebrum, or at least part of it, is actualy older that you?
(love the show =D )
I first learned about bomb-pulse dating from a podcast.. But I didn't know that parts of our brain are just as old as we are. Cray!
Dave Lister, chronological age mid 20s, physical age 47.
I like the screaming at the end.
So this is totally disregarding the effects of ageing, which is in practice, very relevant in our real life experience.
+Barrenger That's an interesting question. Why do my mom''s 2 week old skin cells look older than my daughter's 2 week old skin cells? The answer is in the science of senescence. The cells may be young but they are programmed to be old.
This was uploaded on my birthday, HA
Imagine watching this video in your actual birthday.
I searched this up on Google and it looks
The ring through the nose - yeaugh!
ty... its interesting to know... well as they say reality exist as long you think... guess philosophy and science did get another common thinking ground...
This brings us to the same question of What and Who are "you"?
BRYNN
In birthday celebrations. we actually should celebrate the Birthday of Cortical Neurons! Very Interesting as well as fun...
I feel my birthday should be in summer not in middle of fall WTF! I hate waiting until Nov is a little beeouch!!
What day of November?
Blueway360 Gamer The Middle 15th of Nov.
+Glory “Isabel” M
My birthday is November 24th, so mine is even closer to winter...
Blueway360 Gamer okayy but it's not right, feel like born wrong day n month too.
+Glory M Mine's November 16th xD It's almost time, though :D
"Fat cells have a life span of about ten year"
Looks down at stomach: "Of course you do."
Lmao
Also the eyes.. something in the eyes.. forget which part exactly.. cornea maybe.. but it's also the same age you are. You got the brain part one.
Carl Sagan's birth day was yesterday and mines is on the 15th.
Maybe this explains why certain brain functions are restored after being damaged and can be learned again while others simply don't ever come back.
+Airen130 mostly not, the functional part of he brain are the interconnections between the neurons. After brain damage, some can possibly be restored (or replaced by new connections between completely different neurons) and others not. However, I've heard rumours that chemotherapy may destroy the stem cells from which new neurons are being formed and that it may cause memory-loss and affects learning ability.
i was born in a star billions of years ago
Congrats on getting to use the Happy Birthday song now that it's out of copyright. :)
My name is Jessica and I just turned 23... did quite a double take
I wonder if this means a change in your thoughts with age due to neurons being replaced, well more correctly: I wonder if they have a significant impact on how your thoughts develop
I don't know when your birthday is, but happy birthday Vanessa. By the way, this was uploaded on my brother's birthday.
Currently we can't travel back in time. Honestly, I think you just make things up. Just because you're an attractive lady doesn't mean you can fool me.
you forgot the inner cells of our lenses, and the muscle cells of our heart, those never change.
The intro 😆😂
Then I would say, if your body's replaced every 7 years, the age is soley based on your mind. Then I'm somewhere between 5 and 20 years old depending on the situation. Which feels pretty good.
The atoms that make up your cells can be up to 13 billions years old because that's when they came into existence. To be entirely accurate; we are anything from one day to 13 billion years old and all points in between. Like most things, the closer you look the more complicated (paradoxical) it becomes!
I'm 10 years old now!!! I'm still a child or kid.💁🏽
Her nose piercing makes it asymmetrical.. I'm not trying to hate, just an observation.
love the outro theme song. I'm a 50yr old male with a couple baby teeth. so those really aren't the same teeth/material from when they first popped thru my gums?
U have changed or lenses to yellow right
Petition to make that the official Happy Birthday song
what about the lens of the eye?
Or is it?
Which youtuber Says This Question Often?
Why do we get bored?
How to avoid getting bored?
Why some documents say boredom causes riots around the world?
What facts does the modern trial and error bank says about boredom?
Btw, everyone is old as the known universe or even older. We all living and dead things are made from a different atoms.
and here i thought you were going to mention how we were technically alive for 9 months before being born in the first place
that's fucking crazy!!!
Well this was unexpected. So, does the fact that hippocampus neurons regenerate mean that the rate at which they do it slows down with time, since, I guess, their number diminishes when you become older ?
It should be noted while carbon dating is useful when it works, many studies have shown it giving false data
+Lougle there are two main types of carbon dating. One relies on C14 natural decay after death of an organism. It works on scales of centuries and millennia. Second type, which is mentioned in this video relies on different (and known) levels of artificial C14 in the atmosphere.
The second one is pretty easy to check and calibrate (since there's plenty of stuff that contains carbon and was made after 1945 with precise expiration date). It I recall correctly it has about 1-2year average error.
