lol If you have the money to make a custom guitar by Jackson your dream can be realized xd, but you'll have to have 8000 dollars I think. I looked it up once in the form you have to fill in xd
@icon if you only use 6 strings, why buy a 7? They’re more expensive and harder to find strings and parts. Just downtune a 6. Also, this is a 7-year-old comment, why are you replying to it?
adam ehrig- I think it is one beautiful guitar. It has me wanting a guitar with that Spalted Maple top with Mahogany body. Maybe an Ibanez S Series or maybe even an Fender Telecaster.
Hey Stefan, I only use a DD3 and a line booster in my effects loop for solos. Other than that I just use the distortion from the amp. I don't remember what amp I played through at Guitar World HQ but live and in the studio I use EVH amps and cabs.
Great editing Guitarworld - perhaps as rule of thumb if the guitarist is talking and not playing for more than 5 seconds revert to a shot with their face in it? The extended shots of Dave's guitar with his head out of frame while he talked just look amateurish.
Yeah, there's another vídeo of Dave giving a lesson/playing Craddle Robber wich looks way better because you can see him, and then each of his hands separately
I'm sure this guy is more than decent as a guitarist. But in this case, his guitar is stealing the spotlight. That must have cost him a fortune, even if he had some sort of discount through sponsorships. That spalted flame maple is just rediculously hot! And I dig the Jackson Warrior shape too.
Tarkess I've already mentioned that he's playing to a backing track.... but I'm still sure that we're hearing him playing one of the tracks although I'm not a fan of revocation and haven't heard the actual track. What I was saying is that he's playing to a backing track but playing ONE of the two tracks.
that is actually a glear gloss finish on that guitar. that is a spalted flamed maple top, which comes from wood from dying trees. so that pattern on the guitar is wood believe it or not.
Ryan Harrison It doesn't look like it's real wood to me, specially because it looks like it's Brown on the back with no effects. It might still be wood on the front that we're seeing, sure, but i still think it's really ugly. Hopefully, if Jackson releases a 7 string warrior it'll be in a better color
João Ferreira Spalted maple tops only on the front face of the guitar the back is might be mahogany or some other tone wood. Natural finishes aren't for everyone but I own something like his and I love it, it is rather bright sounding but still lovely
Nice I have a fender telecaster with one, though I have a mahogany back. I can't tell what Dave's guitar's back is, he probably stated it when he got it as I remember him posting a picture of the guitar when he got it
Thanks for all positive feedback so far guys, really glad people are digging the riffage!
No problem, just keep making awesome music! Quick question, there wouldn't happen to be tabs for the songs off this last album in existence, right?
thanks david your instructional videos always help me out
I love the way you describe theory in your guitarworld lessons
There's only one thing that could've made this video more awesome: him playing that first riff with the banjo.
just listen to the original track and you'll find it there
Lol a banjo tuned down
to each his own, but how can anyone NOT like this guy?
Yeah. How can anyone NOT like Revocation? Presuming you are into death/thrash metal.
According to my friend (who likes thrash and death) “7 strings are dumb”
Finally, Revocation starts to get the attention they deserve
Brilliant. More vids from Dave please!
That t-shirt \m/
This guy is an absolute unit.
Dave is just an absolute monster. Great video!
Definitely like this dudes playing, finally something refreshing to the metal world
If i could get that guitar, my life would be complete
Spalted maple looks like rotting flesh on a Jackson Warrior. Brilliant.

Never heard of song, band or guitarist... But a cool little video, so after this will be looking them up
THAT'S how you play a 7-string. You play ALL seven strings.
@icon if you only use 6 strings, why buy a 7? They’re more expensive and harder to find strings and parts. Just downtune a 6.
Also, this is a 7-year-old comment, why are you replying to it?
Thats a baddazz guitar holly shit!!!
Jackson WR1 :3
Love the guitar!!
Kiana Shotgun of Vixen Vendetta =)
Awesome playing, awesome instrument, and awesome Tattoos! Keep it up Dave! I hope to see Revocation again in Texas!
Holy fuck that spalted maple top is so sick!!
Dave is such a beast!!!!
He speaks so fast thrash metal is obviously in his blood. Interesting lick/riff!
that guitar is sexy
DD- you're the man!!
that 2nd riff made me wet
Awesome guitar!
This guy knows his shit. Very inspiring.
Nice guitar! Love it.
DeatH!!!! Yeahhh....R.I.P. Chuck
Dave is soo well educated in music. For real
cool idea to include country style picking bluesy chords into metal.
How long has Dave had his own section on guitar world?
This is pretty good.
What a beast
Amazing !!!
Can't wait for the new Marty Friedman album featuring Alexi Laiho and David Davidson !!!
That Jackson is so damn cool! Is it a custom shop? I don't recall Jackson ever making a Warrior with 7-strings.
This guy is fucking amazing!
david davidson you should do a lesson on rythem playing in general
WOW I love that guitar. What kind of wood is that? It's amazing.
Spalted Maple top with a Mahogany body and neck. It was an interesting build.
adam ehrig- I think it is one beautiful guitar. It has me wanting a guitar with that Spalted Maple top with Mahogany body. Maybe an Ibanez S Series or maybe even an Fender Telecaster.
Sounds much better at half speed!
Does anybody know how he exactly got that Jackson 7 string Warrior? As far as I know did he have to customly get it?
That's one beutiful guitar
was he playing? I couldn't focus on anything else than that ultra-gorgeous spalted top!
Sick
Coooooolllllllll guitar....evil little riffs ....I like
cool guitar man. what is your guiar
awesome!
What pedals you use for the sound. I love it!
Hey Stefan, I only use a DD3 and a line booster in my effects loop for solos. Other than that I just use the distortion from the amp. I don't remember what amp I played through at Guitar World HQ but live and in the studio I use EVH amps and cabs.
A Jackson Kelly custom seven string. Nice guitar.
Don't usually like the warrior shape, but My God Dat Jackson.
Dude ... This guitar is more awesome than the classic paint! Where did he get it ?
Jackson Custom Shop.
Holy fucking shit when I heard this song I never thought ti was played liek this what
The guitar looks cool and all, but his tone is incredible.
The body on that guitar is gorgeous... I've never seen anything like it.
What pedal is he using?
Necktrough?
What's the song in the intro?
It's the same song he's playing, Invidious by Revocation (more specifically, it's the ending riff).
jackson should make some production model 7 string kellys and warriors
7 strings , is good ! :)
Yeah ! :)

"For the sake of easy...explaining...ness."
^^
What an effing racket!
His tattoos are badass

Dat Jackson Warrior and dat shirt.
well this is unique shape....
customized guitar actually....
welliz quizon its a jackson warrior 7 string.
Revocation and Death yeah
that first riff he played sounded 1000% better slow than it did fast.
Wristband of hair where his tattoo sleeve ends hahaha
This dude should shave his armpit if he wears such shirts:D:D
WTF? In the first examples of each lick you can see Dave playing but something completely different comes out of the speakers?
It's a backing track. If you listen to the song on its own, you'll notice both guitar parts are part of it.
Tarkess I've already mentioned that he's playing to a backing track.... but I'm still sure that we're hearing him playing one of the tracks although I'm not a fan of revocation and haven't heard the actual track.

nice rap metal tune
Thrash metal bro. Not rap
sounds like arch enemy and his voice sounds like matt from trivium...
this guy has a nuno influence i think
Leprosy!!!!!
I thought that there were thrash. Like Grip of Tightens.
This is veeery death.
Brootal
Esta tocando ideas sacadas de country con una polera de Death, curiosamente a Chuck Schuldiner no le gustaba el country...
Just for the sake of... you know.. easiness. bahahaha
He's a dead ringer for Bode Miller.
"For the sake of easy explaining"
-ness.
Crazy. I wonder how guitar playing will evolve in another 20 years? Probably have cyborg implants etc.
What kind of amp are they giving guitarists? It's a mockery, because this is the first and only time I've heard Dave with a poor tone.
I don't like video's with seven string guitar. Mainly because, I don't have a seven string guitar :-(
I'm sorry but this ain't thrash metal.
dude...shave dat armpits hairs
can't take my eyes from it
Keep them IMO. They're metal as fuck.
Dave, i usually love your guitars, but this 7 strings finish is fugly

Samealtorn
Ive got a Carvin DC800 with a spalted maple top and walnut back, looks plays and sounds amazing!
Nice I have a fender telecaster with one, though I have a mahogany back. I can't tell what Dave's guitar's back is, he probably stated it when he got it as I remember him posting a picture of the guitar when he got it
The only thing cool about this video is the guitar.
Amazing !!!
