The most messed up thing about the aliens episode is that they thought they were on the moon. They were trying to abduct an entire society of another species.
So fanon came up with this heartwarming story of Pearl being adopted by Mr. Krabs after her mother was killed by whalers, but apparently the creators debunked it and confirmed that yes, Krabs fucked a whale.
I listened to an Audiobook Version of that story only now do i realise the Killer was driven to Madness by subcountious guild if he was not insane to begin with
The in-universe difference in species between Pearl and Mr. Krabs has never been addressed in an episode, but the official trivia book states that Pearl takes after her unseen mother, who was also a whale.
He was WAY more than just a fan of marine biology. It was his major and he minored in art. According to Wikipedia as well… “ He started his professional career in 1984, instructing marine biology at the Orange County Marine Institute, where he wrote and illustrated The Intertidal Zone, an informative picture book about tide-pool animals, which he used to educate his students.” Stuff like that for how creators is always awesome, esp because you see so much of that knowledge when he was on the show.
Fun little history about these episodes: when these episodes premiered on Nickelodeon they were doing a Smell-O-Vision block where you would get these scratch-and-sniff cards from Kraft products. During the episodes there will be a number that’ll pop up where you scratch your card and smell whatever the characters were doing something (as an example when Mr. Krabs deep fried the boots). Another funny thing was that months and months after that Smell-O-Vision special was long over the reruns would still use the S-O-V prompts
Fun Fact: In that scene where Spongebob elaborates on reasons for aliens, the arguments he brings up differ in other languages. In German he says platforms shoes and teflonpans for example!

The out of universe reason Pearl is a whale is Stehen Hillenburg wanted each of the main characters to be a different species (he was a big marine biology fan). Pearl in particular became one of his favorites because of his memories of leading whale watches
2:59 - It's funny how Sandy's been to moon already and almost nobody questions this. She has the tech to both live underwater and easily travel to space. She clearly has access to a lot of tech that's way more advanced than what humanity currently has. It makes me wonder if if there's a squirrel version of Wakanda hiding somewhere in Texas.
Decided to google it apparently members of the writing staff and production staff have confirmed in interviews that pearl is Krab's biological daughter.
Sandy's Rocket is an episode that both smoothes certain things over and also confuses a ton of people for a number of reasons. To put it simply, the original concept for Sandy was she was a scientist visting underwater to study the life of Bikini Bottom(has a hoverboard), she's from Texas(Houston, Space Program, Suit, get it?) and was a bit rough and tumble. However, during the final stages of the shows development, the rough and tumble, Karate, girl power, prideful Texan stuff grew in prominence. Sandy's Rocket is the only episode for a long time to lean into the Scientist thing(and I guess the general base concept, I mean she's a squirrel with a fancy diving suit living in a dome underwater, science is a good reason why), otherwise it's never brought up, she's just the sporty strong girl with a rough personality and a love for Texas, Sandy's Rocket is a weird outlier. However, starting in Season 4(Specifically the two episodes Chimps Ahoy and SquidBob TentaclePants), they brought back the Scientist Angle, and then fully committed to it being the MAIN use of her character starting in Season 5 and 6, most of her plots now focused on that rather than Karate or Sports though they still come up. A ton of fans at the time thought this was a massive alteration to her character and some weird change, but in fact it's actually far closer to her original portrayal in the pitch. Sandy's Rocket fits that too. They also burned through a lot of the Karate and Sports themed plots early on so it makes sense why they got so sparse after Season 4, they needed something to do with the character and didn't want to repeat themselves so they revived the Scientist Angle. It also let them do more machine or crazy experiment plots without having to get Plankton involved(even as late as Season 5 when they needed an inventor in the Patty Gadget episode they used Squidward, Sandy was needed for that role)

I deeply emphasize with him. My mother runs a dog grooming shop at our house, and I have a schnauzer that barks incessantly even if there is nothing outside, *AND* I have highly sensitive hearing. So whenever a customer comes to our house, it is constant barking.

@@JbOTE5100 Yeah, I can definitely see that. The thing about Mr. Krabs is that he does legitimately cares for his daughter, but he's also a cheapskate willing to make a quick buck. that's what's so good about classic spongebob. there was proper nuance to the characters. for every fault, there was a positive to make them likeable, whether it be karma or when they can be noble for a moment. in this episode, it's mr krabs finally getting pearl the slippers AND repaying spongebob for the theft and destruction of his boots.
You do realize Born Again Krabs was pre-Movie SpongeBob meaning that Mr. Krabs literally sold a soul for 62 cents so that argument doesn’t hold much weight, Hell the probably the only reason he regretted it is because he would lose even more money now that he is gone.
21:00 Honestly, even IF the thought was ALL that mattered, and I do not personally think that, but let's entertain it. Mr. Krabs neither put money OR thought into his daughter's birthday party. All he appeared to do is get out a tablecloth and plates, buy or make a cake, do a dance and sing a song for free, and buy his daughter incredibly cheap fishing boots...something she _clearly_ would not want or have any use for unless she liked to go fishing. That shows he put no _thought_ into the gift beyond "What's the cheapest thing I can get me claws on?" Most of us put both thought _and_ money into what we buy, I certainly do. Even for family that I have little to no clue what they like, and don't want to ask, I buy something that I know they can either use, or if they don't like it, it isn't a big deal for them to give away and won't take up space. If they DO like it, then wonderful, I got it right. For Christmas this year, now that my little brother is back in my life, I didn't really think to ask what they wanted, I wanted to try and get him and his girlfriend something, but I'm in a bit of a pinch, so I got them some books I like to read, so that I at least _know_ it's something that is enjoyable. If they personally don't like it, then that's fine. It also will show that I want to _share_ things I like with them. Next year, or on their birthdays, I'll ask.
Its gonna take a while but there is an episode called Krusty Krab Training video in Season 3, It is at least one of the most important episode of the Spongebob fandom because it explored a lot about the Krusty Krab and it also, for no apparent reason, mentioned that Krab went to a never ending depression after "The War".
To be clear, one of the show's writers, David Fain, clarified in an official trivia book in 2000 that Pearl takes after her mother, the unseen Mrs. Krabs, who was indeed a whale. Apparently, keeping her mother otherwise anonymous was to add a layer to the joke of any time Krabs says the common pirate-ism "Mother of Pearl!" in the show.

For a sea creature, space would be like twice as alien to him as it is to us. It'd be like a DBZ character going to Other World & then going to another galaxy within Other World. I heard the U.S. was thinking about stopping production of pennies like 16 years ago but I don't know if they ever did. I don't remember the last time I checked the year on a penny.
I can't get over how Spongebob, for at least one episode, is canonically responsible for HUNDREDS of people dying in some incident involving Sandy's homemade whirlybird.
18:20 She is apparently not adopted, and it was never said that she was in any episode. According to the Spongebob Wiki, she was actually not adopted, and Mr. Krabs did in fact marry a whale, although Mrs. Krabs has never appeared in the show. There is also actually a confirmed reason why Pearl and Mr. Krabs are not both crabs. In Pearl's Wiki page, it states that Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of the show, made Pearl and Mr. Krabs a different species so every character in the main cast could be a different animal and have more unique designs.

21:20 O think its the thought that counts but thats exactly what he didnt do. he didnt think about what his daughter might like, he thought about what the cheapest thing that he could find is instead
It's never confirmed but there's a whale photo in his house if you watch all his episodes and a theory comes from the fact that he was a veteran of some great war in Bikini Bottom that he found a baby Pearl amongst civil corpses a whale mother who died protecting her daughter and she actually helped him progress as a man and owner of the Krusty Krab as he fell into a great depression after the war but through acquiring both a former old folks home and finding Pearl, he turned the old folks home into an establishment now paying his bills and slowly fixing his trauma.
See, I could have sworn that Edgar Allan Poe got a writing credit for the "Squeaky Boots" episode, given that it is a loose adaptation of "The Tell-Tale Heart." But I just played the episode on Paramount+, specifically looking at the credits on the title card and the end credits, and he's not listed in either. Kind of sucks that he was either credited and then his credit was removed later, or that he was never credited to begin with. I always did consider myself a fan of his work. As it is, I have an idea for a short film that adapts his famous poem "The Raven," but it takes it more seriously than other adaptations (looking at you, Simpsons Treehouse of Horror).
Lol the $2 birthday argument hits a little close to home. I grew up not wanting to celebrate my birthday, no presents please, no cake, no gathering, just let it be a normal day please. I was promptly told that the celebration wasnt for me, it was BECAUSE of me. I didnt get a say in any of it, because it was my family celebrating my birth, reguardless of what I wanted to do.
3:55 the reason items were like in od amounts of pennies was because it was visual design marketing ploy to entice people to buy stuff. For example $4.99 is more appealing that $5 because your mind thinks you're getting a barging. Same thinf with $4.95 or $4.50. It big wigs companies didn't think of how some contries would get rid of pennies. Its a money greed thing that makes things economically more complicated.
Apparently I haven’t seen this episode since before I learned about the Telltale Heart cause I never noticed this was an Edgar Allen Poe reference till now
How a crab could have a whale for a kid was never explained. I just assumed that Pearl was adopted. Also, meet Mr.Krabs, the cheapest crab to ever penny pinch.
Most weird part about Alien ep Patrick didnt get his named called when he was also involved capturing people yet spongebob was pnly one taking the fall
Last episode she told someone who complained about her making fun of a fat character that its a cartoon and this episode she ponders Sandy's size compared to the moon and rocket and gets upset that someone said it's a cartoon

I was there 3000 years ago, when the dollar tree turned to 1.25. And then turned to 5 dollars and then snacks are now like normal gas station prices. Its kinda depressing now.
Mr. Krabs is more morally grey than Aokiji. Like, we all root for Spongebob, but if it weren't for him, a lot more of us probably would be rooting for Plankton.
The most messed up thing about the aliens episode is that they thought they were on the moon. They were trying to abduct an entire society of another species.
They're basically children in mindset so they don't think about moral implications, they just know what they see from movies.

Judging by his later amorous affection for a certain large fish, we can say with confidence that Mr Krabs likes 'em big.

One of the best memes I saw was when Mr krabs went “I didn’t do it!” N it just showed a Vietnam flashback
The space ship would also double as a submarine, since it’s underwater.
PLEASE, keep doing this series Alicia, it only got crazier as the years passed!
lol I forgot the part of the aliens episode about Spongebob thinking Patrick is an alien. The Thing moment
“Villains!” I shrieked, “dissemble no more! I admit the deed! - tear up the planks! - here, here! - it is the beating of his hideous heart!”
1:46 wow… my thought were “he’s like a little kitty” and yours were “freeloader” 💀 and the kittens name would’ve been “pickle”
The squeaky boots being a The Tell-tale Heart reference will never not be funny to me.
18:39 "Is this man one of my people?" - a meme template
Love how spongebob gave Mr. Krabs a sort of ptsd effect on squeaky sounds. It wasn't even on purpose, it was just Spongebob being Spongebob.
It wasn’t on purpose, but it sure was a karmic justice.
Its a money greed thing that makes things economically more complicated.
spongebob is in his 30's, spreading that knowledge to those who are unaware
13:14 Whether it be restaurant owner or health insurance CEO they have the same statement when in the crosshairs.
I just realized how fitting Alicia is wearing Robin cosplay for the Spongebob reactions
28:35 Counter argument: How many comfy rooms for sleeping he has?
SpongeBob did not forget the PICKLES!
Y'know, I never noticed how many of the lines and scenes I quote from SpongeBob are from the first season
Everyone in the chat saying poor Sandy, calm down she’s a fictional squirrel living underwater it’s not deep (well deep in the ocean)
If “Pickles” didn’t send the message of how much of a crustaceous cheapskate Krabs is, “Squeaky Boots” is sure to send it loud and clear. And squeaky!
11:50 In Australia, we call that a 'hot water bottle'.
The show's creator confirmed that Pearl IS Mr. Krabs' biological daughter when asked and said just not to think about it too much.
The longer this goes on, the more Alicia and Mr. Krabs seem alike
The 99 cent store thing is so true… back in my day you could buy a Arizona drink for 99 cents now it’s almost $2
its not the
dollar store
it's the
dollar(s) store
Watching Spongebob will definitely help Alicia contextualize One Piece later on.
Did not expect Alicia to go full Skillet, pleasant surprise.
Pickles? "WHO TOLD YOU ABOUT THE NAME?!?!" > -Puss n boots- Pickles
The toothpaste in my peanut butter is probably one of the best most 18 plus joke going over most pples heads.
27:32 YOOO I love that song!!! It really helps me release my anger 😊
Last episode she told someone who complained about her making fun of a fat character that its a cartoon and this episode she ponders Sandy's size compared to the moon and rocket and gets upset that someone said it's a cartoon
Wait is chat trying to tell me that SpongeBob isn't a documentary on the real life of SpongeBob squarepants and his friends? I can't believe someone would lie like that
It’s BS with higher prices, we have A Poundland but now it might as well be “Anything to the nearest Poundland”.
SpongeBob and Patrick probably don’t have back problems because they are invertebrates.
Watching these old episodes again made me realize that Patrick is a terrible influence on Spongebob lmao
3:50 yeah, sorry, I keep finding them at work and I just collect them, I can give them back if you want
3:18
First: Pickles.
Second: Damn you Inflation.
