I'm like 99% sure that comms wire is referenced to mains so should be double insulated. That's dodgy as hell. Edit: bad cap could have tripped your breaker as the compressor wouldn't start, so it sits there drawing LRA until the internal klixon trips out. Depending on breaker rating vs LRA current definitely possible.
I didn’t know it was referenced to mains. That’s interesting. Yeah man, they’re basically back to back too. Would have been easy to just replace it when it was installed 🤦♂️ The thing that kept throwing me off was I thought the breaker was the type that tripped into the middle. I couldn’t find any information on it though to confirm that. Always the potential that it wasn’t that type of breaker and it was tripped 😂
@@hvacraustralia I think you proved the mains reference when you tested for comms. Were you measuring between active and the comms wire there? If so, the comms wire is going to be pretty close to active potential. Perhaps measure neutral to comms next time you're at a split and see what you get. Never tried myself. Well hey, at least you marked it for the next guy! Gonna make someone's life easier, maybe even your own haha
I tested between comms and neutral looking for a fluctuating DC voltage to confirm both PCB’s are communicating. It’s less than 3m of wire, couldn’t let it be 😂
This was one of the best hvac videos I have seen. Great in depth look at your work. Thanks
Thanks mate, appreciate the feedback. Glad you’re enjoying the videos. Cheers 🤙
Love your commentary!
Thanks mate. Glad you enjoy it.
Great find ! 🎉
Thanks mate 👌
Was the unit with a bad cap a non-inverter unit.
Yeah, it was fairly old. Don’t come across many these days.
Where do you get the umbrella holder thanks
From The TradeShade. They have a website where you can purchase it from 🤙
@@hvacraustralia thank mate 👍
