Being I start racing MX at 30 I always like John cause they said he got started late jeeze I feel like dinosaur now start in at 30,but there was always this quite humble thing about john that made me keep track of him at nationals and even supercross, and I was really blown away when he got factory ride and he didn't disappoint us.That Southwick crowd is like a dilla crowd back in the day,but today and that's so inspiring, almost like the Olympics,or des nations, you can't imagine,I really think that kind of fans support always inspired me to want ski for my country.just remembering the Swedes with their cow bells and air horns, the cow bells was so cool,to think how silly pumped a fan has to be to be carrying a cow bell around to let you know they are behind you, wow,I still get chills thinking about it,excuse me while I slide my weight back on my skis a little....
Congratulations on a spectacular career John...you are a lucky man to have raced pro for so many years. We all will enjoy the memories thanks to modern day film.
Dowdy we pushed our wheels into the gates next to eachother a few times middleboro southwick waterboro.. I left town and headed for the retarded music business before I figured out how to really go fast but i started in 85 i was 14 barely a 120lbs all hail Weims Scott ! and Dave? was it dave on the Sky Cycle truck every weekend ? taught me how to prep my bike I was myown sponser and my mechanic Mom drove.
Hey John Dowd. My name is John Dowd too! I've been following you from the 90s, thought I'd introduce myself. You were part of the reason I changed my name to Jon. ha. I've wanted to race since I was in high school, and now that in my 60s I've taken up flat track here in Oregon. I'm not much of a contender, but I sure am having fun. They have to announce me as 'the other Jon Dowd' ha. I've really appreciated watching you and hope your later years are as fun as mine! Stay cool Dog : -)
Great racer, great guy too. I've met him a few times and he is the consummate gentleman and regular guy
47 years old and still has the speed! Much respect to John Dowd and all he accomplished during his career. More importantly he's a genuinely nice guy.
