Jim Al-Khalili is such a good speaker! I will make sure to attend this conference next year :)

What a wonderful speaker of science! Clear and entertaining! I was hoping that with his understanding of the measurement problem (interaction between observer and result) he had a more exciting view about determinism and free will!

LOL! I'd forgotten that I'd asked him a question.

Soon after this video was uploaded I made two (I think) comments on it - in which I found fault with Jim's argument. My comments may have been in error, but they were certainly not improper in any way. Those comments were never responded to by anybody and have now been deleted. I fully expect this comment to be deleted. It appears that only adulatory comments are allowed.

Brilliant Video ! Shame about the automatic captions for the deaf or hard of hearing ! However I know of a deaf scientist who maybe able to help the BHA. You have my details & I shall not discuss this on the internet. Call me !

No matter how physics works and which of the 2 incomplete laws we have on spacetime and matter, one thing is certain. A person is the product of it's environment and to the extent of it's mental faculties, a product of it's genome, as Chomsky explains. So about this expression _free will_, it is a mental construct, a vague convoluted notion, not something clearly defined, just like _good_ or _bad_. Why don't we just replace it with _upbringing_ or education, the sum of all sensory experiences coupled with any brain structure defects or variations and in the interest of humanity give up on the word _guilty_ and use the word _disturbed_ or _ill_, a person in need of help rather.
I think this is exactly the way in which Humanism is or must be superior to religious morality and a paradigm shift.
