i’m sure price meant no harm in his comments but it did come across as pretentious. Yea unfortunately in Mexico cheese and rice is a meal. and Yes Unfortunately it is a desperation meal that is inherently apart of our culture. Not everyone is able to afford a protein when eating a meal, so cheese and rice became a staple in my culture. Beans and rice is a more common example of a non protein “desperation meal”
Is cheese cheaper than protein in Mexico? In my country (Thailand), I feel like cheese is extremely expensive.
@@Road_To_Rome lots of people that live in Ranchos, or farms are able to make their own cheese. it’s also fairly cheaper to buy since it’s so abundant. Compared to beef or any other meat, cheese is the cheaper option

Totally with Ash about the homemade tortilla. In my country, we don't have authentic Mexican food much, but I think the same goes with bread : for me, a delicious filling doesn't save a sandwich with bad bread, but I'll enjoy any filling in excellent bread.
People eat rice by itself, and that's normal. Why not add cheese to it? Cheese and rice seems normal to me.

Best taco I've ever had was when
I went on vacation to Puerta Vallarta in 2017 I think it was. Most street corners had little Taco stands. Me and my ex best friend would go out dancing, and around 1am-3am we would walk to the corner taco stand and get tacos. They were sooooo good!!

I totally eat rice and cheese! It's a comfort food :D kinda in between a snack and meal. Just imagine warm and fluffy sticky rice with shredded cheddar that's melting on it, add some sesame seeds for a bit of crunch mmmmm.... I don't it with minute rice though, bleh.

The tacos are interesting because they look like soft shells when they don't have meat in them and hard shells when they do have meat in them... maybe this restaurant has come up with a new hybrid shell.

I don't see a problem with cheese and rice. Risotto can be cheesy. Admittedly I wouldn't expect to order cheese and rice at a taco restaurant.. but that's because I'd want tacos.

We have oven baked rice and cheese dish where I'm from which is really tasty.
On the topic of cheese and rice at a restaurant: Picky people my only thought is picky people/picky children a family wants to go out for a nice night out and everyone except the one person/child wanted Mexican so they all go to the restaurant and the picky person/child finds they can only stomach cheese and rice so that's what they order not a main meal selection just a we're here so order something or starve kinda thing. Of course I'm not Hispanic at all so someone with a more cultural experience may have more incite.

I don't ever remember there being a melon flavor Jarritos but I always drank the lime flavor.
My tacos don't frickn judge me it's delicious:
Hard shell,meat,cheese,salsa,ketchup and rarely lettuce
Rice and chesse is basically risotto, though that is italian food and not mexican
I can’t say anything, my favorite burrito is meat cheese and a bit of hot sauce🤣😂

For a mexican restaurant cheese and rice sounds weird. I can hardly accept rice and beans or tortilla and cheese or tortilla and chili, but that is a strange combination. Maybe the game could change that for crazy doritos /doritos locos.
