As a Bengali, "Wait, this exists?". Goddamn, I feel proud 😎 For the love of god please upload "Jago Anashana Bandi".
A bit ashamed to say that I had to translate this comment to fully understand it, but I completely understand you! John Brown was one of the few Americans willing to give up his life for what was objectively right--and he was by no means a terrorist or a psychopath as his critics label him. Ive listened to Jago Anoshono Bandi before but I've not considered uploading it, I'll keep it in mind!
@@cortexradio Nice to see you liked my comment. Yeah, the Bengali was kind of hard 😅 :). Good to know that you are considering doing "Jago Anoshono Bondi". I actually have always wanted to see people upload more Bengali songs on anthem channels, but unfortunately there aren't many Bengalis who make such content or non Bengalis who know Bengali. Considering that songs from far less populous ethnicities are often featured, you could say I felt a little jealous. There are so many great Bengali songs, another is "Dhono Dhanye Pushpe Bhora" and yet they have never been uploaded by any channel. Btw, just curious, are you an immigrant Bengali? My eulogy for John Brown is actually heavily inspired by Frederick Douglas' quote about him, especially the "took up arms for a despised and humiliated race" and "laid down his life for the slave". And the "real traitors hanged him for treason" is inspired by the line "They hanged him for a traitor, they themselves the traitor crew" from John Brown's body.
@@leonhardeuler7647 I will probably do more Bengali Swadeshi-era songs in the near future, stuff like Maer Dewa Mota Kapor and others. To answer your question, yes, I am. I was born in Kolkata but have not lived there.
I am a Sri Lankan listening to a Bengal song in the 1930s about John Brown an American abolitionist died in 1859. The melody may be Japanese .(学科嫌い / Gakka girai ) . Uploaded by a ?UK citizen. What a wonderful time to live in?
Now that you point it out, that is correct, it is "গণমনে" lol; I'm not too sure about "বর্ণিমান" though, that's probably the most likely transcription though
It must feel so powerful to stand there knowing that in front of you his actual body lay. I had a similar eerie feeling when visiting Marx's grave-I just couldn't believe I was that close to someone like him, even though he was dead.

Alternate universe were John Brown was a British soldier who was stationed in the Raj and subsequently fought for Indian Independence
Had no idea this was a thing. John Brown is genuinely one of my favorite people in all of history. Great to see!
