Note that "Different" was a command for an anime intro, like "Sense". So some lyrics might sound a little weird. But Miku is a little genius of words, and even if it's for a specific purpose she will always insert an uplifting message.
So you can listen to the song without knowing the anime it reffers to and feeling good, thanks to the little pigeon.

The amount of shredding that takes place during the start of Different is so goddamn good, it blows my mind every single time. Every single instrument is just doing God tier riffing, and I'm so jealous, but also proud. The maids are everything I've wanted to see for decades.

From Japan, thank you for BAND-MAID's reaction.
    A little introduction to BAND-MAID.
1 The band was formed nine years ago in 2013 by rhythm guitarist Miku Kobato. She was an idol singer in a group of three, but she was unsuccessful, and she got the idea to form a band, inspired by the maid café where she worked.
2 BAND-MAID was formed by Miku as the lead singer, but during the two live performances, in order to make it an ideal band, she thought about adding a more powerful singer. Saiki joined the band and became the current five members, and it hasn't changed until now.
3 After the formation, songs were provided by composers outside the band, but Kanami continued to compose, and three years later her song was adopted 2016. Since then she has composed and arranged songs for BAND-MAID. The lyrics were written by Miku from the beginning, and now Saiki is also starting to write the lyrics. Now, all five members ideas have been poured into one song, made by them, and played by them.

Great reaction. The band was formed by Miku Kobato the rhythm guitarist and back up vocals. She is also the lyricist. Kanami Tono the lead guitarist writer and composer. Miku worked in a maid cafe and came up with the idea.

Sebs, great reaction. This concert was online with no audience. BAND MAID in front of the audience push harder, harder than this and...this concert was amazing as always. At the beginning of the solo in Dice, Kanami (lead guitar and main composer) had a difficult moment starting the riff with the first note. They are real. The band was started by Miku (red rose) who is backing vocals and rythim guitar. In most of the songs they are talking about 'their' fight to become a rock band and they transfer this 'fight' for the audience trying to encourage them to fight for their dreams. Keep going

    • @alexn4843
      @alexn4843 Рік тому +4

During their online acoustic concert they even talked about their maid uniforms being their "fighting" clothes.

Well, Miku (backup singer/rhythm guitar) sang in a small group that didn't go anywhere. Being without a job she worked for a time in a traditional Japanese Maid Cafe. Not like your typical domestic house maid. In the Japanese maid cafe the wait staff both serve food and provide entertainment. Females typically perform song and dance dressed in these anime style French maid outfits. Miku, rather than trying to join in with another group, decided to form her own band singing the style of music she wanted to perform. So, she used the uniform style of the Maid Cafe and a hard rock sound to create their "GAP" and called it Band Maid.

Miku, a maid, found Kanami on line, who invited Akane, who begat MISA...Miku then fired herself as lead singer and hired Saiki, for a twin vocal setup. When Miku started BAND-MAID, she did not play guitar, just carried it around like a piece of jewelry. Then Kanami started teaching Miku to play.

Great reaction, Sebs! Saiki (vocals), has a rich timbre to her voice that is pleasant to listen to, and she has great stage presence as well.
As for favorite song? That's a more difficult question to answer! There are a couple of running jokes among maidiacs regarding a favorite BM song:
Q: What is your favorite BM song?
A: The last one I listened to.
Q: What are your top 5 favorite BM songs?
    A: (lists 20+ songs)
When you get a chance, try checking out Play (live), Onset (live instrumental), Freedom (live), and Wonderland (live). All are on their official channel.
Looking forward to more reactions as you continue your Band Maid journey. Have a good one!

Well, I've got good news, and some more good news. First, they're even better live with a crowd - this was a livestream in front of nobody; and 2: the more you listen to them, the more you notice and they just keep getting better and better until you want to explode from excess happiness.😃 I'd check out Real Existence Official Live and Domination Live from their channel - although there are so, so, so many great ones - you won't believe until you get there, but after 75 songs under your belt, you're still nowhere near done and you still haven't heard a single song that isn't great to OMG! And yes, their lyrics are mostly very uplifting and so is their music. I've never seen a band that can put so many catchy choruses into so many complex and musically interesting songs.

I love Kanami's face when she misses a note in her solo in Dice, just the cutest "Welp" look ever.
Different really suffers from Kanami being low in the mix, it makes a song with a crap ton going on into a little more of a muddle than it really is. The songs Different, Sense, Glory, and Carry On Living were all used for anime openings. The lyrics are often specific to the anime they were written for. In the case of Different, they relate to the world of Log Horizon: Entaku Houkai. That's why they sometimes don't quite jibe if you're trying to approach them from "the real world."

They do have some "dark" songs but always a light at the end feeling. They are a breath of fresh air. Western rock can be such a downer now. It's all about their addiction, dead friend, bad relationship. Geez would it kill them to be positive for once!?

The one who started the band and came up with the whole concept is Miku Kobato the guitarist and second vocalist with the red rose in her hair. She actually worked as a maid in a cafe . She is also the main lyricist in the songs you so much like and enjoy. The lead singer named Saiki was actually the last one to join Band Maid. Hope this tidbit helps.

Not many reactors talk about Saiki (the vocalist). But dude, you've done it. For my personal opinion, she is one of the best japanese band female vocalists. Not many Japanese female singers and vocalists have unique voice like her (low and rasp voice but strong). I'd like how she passionate about the band and their music style, and her progress from the early of the band started until now. But the funny thing is, she was deceived by Miku Kobato (Rythm) to join the band after she listened their music but no one tell her that the band members should dress like a maid because it's the band concept. Lol

Saiki's dress and headdress is loosely based on the idea of a Spanish maid. But not much as she has never been keen on wearing a maid uniform. Likewise, MISA's is based loosely on a Chinese outfit...but probably more of a ninja than a maid, what with her being The Barefoot Assassin and all! It's probably just one of her many ninja discuises. Akane wears a sort of maid blouse but shorts with it. Miku and Kanami are full-on maids.

There're so many Japanese rock/metal bands recently, but it's rare to have such a deep, thick and powerful voice. Mostly, the other bands have high-pitched vocals, which, IMO, ruins its Rock'n'Roll feel. Saiki's vocal is so powerful and it brings tears in everyone's eyes...it happened to me, too.
