I know some might not like my comment but I am honestly a little disappointed at this moment. I have watched three of the past live-confernences like this one over the past weeks and apart from the fact that His Holyness keeps repeating the very same sentences in every conference ( I think I have heard the story about the EU and France and Germany for the fourth time in two weeks) I find it quite unempathetic to answer a concrete question, like from the young lady from 39:20 , where she very concretely asks what does he want to tell people who through Covid have lost their jobs, businesses or loved ones? - he only answers with quantum physics, and that nothing is real and nothing exists and that it is 'not helpful to run after the problem but realise it doesn't really exist'. Is that really an empathetic answer one would give directly to a deeply sad, crying human who has just suddenly lost the person closest and dearest to them, in that very moment I should tell them ' don't you mind, the death of your husband/wife/child doesn't really exist, your love and feeling of loss don't exist either, actually, your loved one didn't really exist, so just be happy and peacful and have peace of mind and don't have destructive emotions? Really? I personally find that unempathetic and even hurtful. It might be his truth of course, and in general and at a later point in time after such tragedy hit it might be helpful advice, but even if so, empathy should come first with at least some comforting words for someone in the middle of current, sudden, and intensively felt loss and sadness like the one referred to in the question. I do not understand how this answer can go together with the idea of giving understanding and empathy to your fellow human beings in the Buddhist way, at least it is not my understanding of it
Actually Lorena the questioner broadly asked "How have you coped with uncertainty, and what advice do you have to those affected by Covid....to maintain their peace of mind?". Without repeating everything His Holiness stated in his answer, he essentially referred to the fact that quite often the outside problem cannot be removed and that the philosophy/method His Holiness utilises (ie Buddhadharma) requires looking inward to help our mind understand altruism and the nature of reality known technically as emptiness. I feel this was a very good response....particularly as English is not his first language.

Being a buddhist myself I would have thought something like: 'for those around you directly affected right now, show them compassion and empathy as good as you can and in the way they need it from you, be there for them, comfort them, pray for them.' - that would have been a very good answer, it the way of empathy and compassionand that part was sadly completely missing in his answer.
