Very very clear, noise free lessons. I'm a complete beginner but can follow and get something resembling those bass lines out of my bass. Great motivation.
No silly intros and no 30 seconds bragging how well you can play before you even start.

Brilliant vid - Mark, you are spot on mate, McCartney’s ability on 4 strings is often overshadowed by that incredible songwriting gift. Let’s be honest, you could be here all day on Beatles/Macca basslines 🤣🙌🏻

I got myself a Rogue Beatle bass for $150 from musicians friend for Christmas, just put on some La Bella flat wounds, set it up, intonated & was excited to try it out (I am a guitar player brand new to bass). With this great lesson, I was sounding like Sir Paul right away. Great fun!!! Thank you very much & you got a new subscriber, I'll be checking out more of your stuff!

Maybe it’s just me, but with the holiday season officially upon us, I got to thinking about great bass lines in Christmas songs. One ive always wanted to learn was “Linus and Lucy” from the Charlie Brown Christmas album. At the 1:54 minute mark, there’s a great bridge part where the bass does this really jazzy walking line. THAT would be awesome if you broke down just that part and taught it to us for Christmas! Just a suggestion! 😉 cheers!

Interesting thing that gives it the characteristic sound is that Paul does NOT pick the D at the beginning of the slide up in Come Together, only the 2 D's before and then slides without attacking.

"Something", "Dear Prudence", "Hey Bulldog" or "I Saw Her Standing There" are three more examples of McCartney's genius bass works.
And if we talk about Paul McCartney and Wings (or Macca on his own), we should mention "Goodnight Tonight", "Silly Love Songs", "Band On The Run" or "Momma Miss America".

Even though Paul's lines are simple in theory,he sure played very quick and bouncy back then, with great tone. I have a tough time with a lot of the riffs because I don't practice playing that fast much anymore. I also use only my fingers and flat wounds.

I prefere your teaching style, direct, no nonsense , straight to the point and down to earth. At 1st I didn’t know what to think, you seemed to shout and be quick in explaining as if you are doing a lesson b4 going shopping...so pay ATTENSION, listen, do this, do this. Not this....etc
But great I like it. Looking forward to learning more from your no nonsense informative style 😎

Note - like almost all other bass players, you are playing the main part of Come Together incorrectly, as Paul McCartney does NOT pick the 3rd note that you and others pick...he just slides it up without picking. There are isolated bass tracks you can find where clearly he just slides up and doesn't pick that 3rd note. They play his isolated bass track in this video and show how he really played it: ua-cam.com/video/JNmB8oq0EB0/v-deo.html
Kinda the same as how all guitar players & sheet music out there do not play Black Bird guitar correctly the way Paul McCartney does... Check that one out. These interesting details will blow your mind, as you find out it was always different than what you thought!

Paul was originally not very happy lumbered with the bass but john had a new Rick and george was lead so paul had no guitare at thae time he was playing piano he saw bass players as fat guys in back playing root notes and fifths but with the hofner he started listening to James Jameson and he was inspired so he was big on putting bass out front melodicaly and you can here it through his career even john who wasn't big on complements said I always said paul you where and inspired bass player a bigger from john.
