This is an excellent upload on this tragic story. I’ve been reading all I can find on Shi Pei-Pu and the reasons behind his deception. I personally think he was really in love with Bernard and was just desperate to hold on to him and so became a pathological lier in order to stay close to him. I don’t think Bernard Boursicot was angry because he was fooled, but because he had come to the realization his life was just a fantasy he was equally responsible for. I feel terrible for them both. Had they lived in our time, they may have had a happier ending.
Shi Dudu. This story is full of details like that make the immature part of my mind want to laugh. But overall the story is really sad. Can't say I blame Bernard for not forgiving him, but it's still hard to believe he could be that naive/inexperienced to be fooled in the first place.
