Wow as always Fantastic Footage for those of us who have not had the Joyfall experience of Scuba Diving at all Wow had no idea Decompression Time was 2 to 4 Hours to get back out the Water Guess for at least once it be Kool to try in mouth the Regulator / Gas

Everyone’s gear is so nice I feel like all divers are In some way rich or well off such an expensive hobby from what I seen atleast for me..
The equipment is indeed expensive but if you maintain it well it'll last a long time. For me I am now poor after buying all my gear :D
I'm poor but I've been diving for a very long time and buying gear little by little. The most expensive pieces of equipment the rebreather and the dpv I bought as used.
You do not have to be rich, you can buy slowly, you can finance. These guys take there hobby serious, I’m sure it didn’t happen over night. Rebreathers are expensive, but so is gas for open. I wouldn’t wanna go 90m under water with crap gear, 3 strikes here you probably gonna die, so I would say limit that, by taking your time a buying reliable equipment. Go take some classes first, it’s classroom and pool they give you all the gear. You should sign up soon classes can get full fast. The classes are not expensive, and can also be paid installments though where I went it’s cheaper to pay full, for the classes.
Hi, I’m very interested in information about your isolation for such long dives in this ice cold water. I do diving in coldwater lakes in switzerland with a temperature of 6°c. I use also a JJ-CCR. But with Odlo X-Warm as a basiclayer, a Santi BZ 400 Heatingvest, a Santi BZ 400 or Weezle Xtreme+ Undersuit, Drycloves with Nogravity Underglove and a K01 Hood it is not possible for me to dive more than 90 minutes. So what is secret? Thanks for your answer and always have good gas!
Now it is summer and the water in the deep is 4°c. At 6 m water is 11 °c and at 4 m it's 15 °c. Now is a good time to dive long dives. Also we have the habitat. In the winter times water is always 4 °c but we can do long dives also then. I can manage a three hour dive without leating west and the habitat (one winter I had problems with my heating west). We usually swim while doing decompression stops, build walls using rocks or play with our bailout tanks. If you do some light activities then you build some heat. I also try to overeat before going to dive.
Some people handle cold better than others. I (Tero) am 182 cm and 75 kg so quite normal size. I have three socs. Two Woolpower socks total 600 g/m² of wool and also Weezle Extreme+ socks. Then I have Woolpower Long Underwear 200 g/m² and fleece long underwear. On torso I have two Woolpower Turtleneck 200 g/m², Woolpower vest 400 g/m² and NLS heating vest. On top I have Weezle Extreme+ undersuit. On my hands I have wool mittens. I dive with an Ursuit drysuit and have rubber Loitokari drymittens. I use two neoprene hoods 5 mm and 3 mm.
Ask the Schönberger Franzl from SF-Tech. You do have to put quite some money on the table, but he is going to sell you superb equipment. I still owe him 10 CHF.

Are you very lean? Bodyfat also matters, as it has excellent insulating properties. It might be worth it to build a layer of brown fat. Usually people who live in very cold climates have a layer of brown fat, as it has extremely good insulating properties and it is healthy as well. You can great brown fat by exposing yourself to the cold daily, i.e. taking a cold shower.
If Petri had to bail out he would have been pretty much fu**ed with that long deko, right?
Didn´t he use a backup-computer or was he unsure if his setpoint was as high as planned? Don´t get me wrong, I don´t want to point fingers, I´d just like to understand what happened.

Yeah, it’s always a question what kind of scenarios you select your diving plan. If everything fails, then you are screwed 😊. In this case we would have had enough deco/bail-out gas to bring Petri to surface if he would had to bail-out. In these kinds of scenarios, we typically use team bail-out. We all carried own EAN50 and Oxygen bottles (11,1l). Petri did not know the reason for long deco in water. That’s why we decided to follow computer with longest deco.
Recently minted ANDP from TDI this past summer. I'm having a hard time understanding the disparity of decompression time between Petri and the rest of the group. His rebreather wasn't correctly reporting his ppo2? If that's the case wouldn't his deco profile been the same as everyone else and he would have gotten bent?
At 90m ppo2 was controlled correctly but as Petri descended/ascended they didn't manually control their ppo2 correctly?

New to technical diving, when you say you use a team approach, does that mean you all carry enough bailout gas if one of the three of you has a problem. If two divers have a problem there wont be enough gas to surface???? That is intense.
We carry enough bailout gases for all of us bailout at the same time.
How did you guys manage to put paint on your fins which lasts a while? I tried different tire markers put haven't had any success so far. Awesome dive by the way!
Not a tech diver, nor rebreather but how long do those scrubbers last? Do you guys have the x tended range canister? I read online its a few hours usually, are you guys worried about CO2, or is there a sensor to monitor it? Im really curious how people like David shaw did 10 hour dives on a rebreather.
The standard JJ axial canister which we use is rated for 3 hours but with the dpvs you can use it up to 4 hours. We are not particular worried about the CO2. JJ does not have a CO2 sensor.

We do not have personal experience of Revo, but those who are using them, are telling that they perform well. After all, no big differences between the units. We like simplicity and robust design of JJ-CCR. For our purpose, it was ready to be used "out of the box". No major modification needed for deep and long cave/mine dives.

@@tylerdurdan1691 it was the computer that malfunctioned and all modern units use the same Shearwater electronics. Not sure what their units are using though.
It would be amazing to do a dive all the way down to 197 meters. Is that in your all's plans for diving this mine at all? That would be a huge accomplishment!

Not yet. Computer is now returned to rEvo instructor. We will inform when we have new information about the case.

@@Signixeu Not really, Handset was changed and after that Revo worked just fine. Probably issue was with pressure sensor but we do not know for sure.

@@arcticicedivers7001 isn't the rEvo using Shearwater computers? Or is this the older unit? If newer, you can dive with dual Shearwater units, just like the JJ. Do you guys not use dual computers? Thanks!
