2023 UPDATE: So I don't know HOW this became my most viewed video, getting over 100,000 and such, but ya's must like your steam machines. Also don't expect more content on the same subject. Old adverts are what I mostly focus on on this channel, but if I come across something of the same thing, I might post it.

Spectacular! One of the best two hours I've spent on youtube and by far the best GDSF video I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. It's like I made the 3,974 mile trip and was there in person. Thank you for the great video and narration. From Kentucky USA.

The best part of this video is @ 30:20 when those two elders talk. What a lovely and humble heart they have.

Amazing video! I had fallen asleep watching Fred Dibnah on his roller, and the calliope woke me! This is an epic that has to be watched in stages, but every second is fascinating. Thank you for posting.

i understand that the late Mike Oliver the founder of the Great dorset steam fair did do some work with shire horses in the past
i have read that he learned to put all the gear on them at a early age? i understand he also looked after a steam engine he was using to advertise the show?

Absolutely magnificent 10 out 10 i hope when the world gets back to normal there will many many more events like this!! This event is right up Fred Dibnahs alley, he will be missed by all!!
I have been to some similar sort of events here ( NZ ) it is AMAZING what is tucked away in sheds waiting to come out!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
My Fathers Father who i never got to meet was a Policeman, an old fashioned Policeman IF ANY one gave trouble in his area they would get a size13 imprint on their rear end and sent home, WHY can,t we have Coppers like that now, they are much too soft these days, a good swift kick up the back side Never harmed anyone, just gives you something to think about next time! 😆🤣😂

I found that display of oil cans very interesting as it doesn't look out of place at a steam rally

    SURPRISING TECHNOLOGY
Modern nuclear plants split atoms to heat water into steam. The steam turns a turbine to generate electricity. The steam-power generator is the low-technology bottleneck in the complete process of converting split-atoms into electric power. It is neither new nor advanced technology, having been first invented as early as 1698.
The first steam engine used for work was patented by the Englishman Thomas Savery in 1698 and was used to pump water out of mine shafts.
In 1712, Thomas Newcomen invented an effective and practical steam engine. The steam engine he designed consisted of a piston and cylinder arrangement.

@@barryphillips7327 You're absolutely right. I don't know what made me type that. I love the sounds the old gurls make. I watched the video again and can't believe I typed that. Some videos have background music that makes it hard the hear the narration or the dialog from the people. So Sorry.
