I installed this stuff back when it only came on a 3 ft wide 100 ft long 50 pound roll before they glued it the plywood. It was stapled to the attic rafters with a ventilation opening of 3in on each side of the peak. We had to crawl on our back shoulder blades across the ceiling rafters to put this stuff up. Technically since it's the same on both sides it actually works the same on eirther side it's installed. But it's code to have it facing the inside. If your smart enough to think about what it is and how it works it could go on eirther side . Better if not installed on the weather side. I was told it was used by NASA on the lunar lander. I wasnt impressed.
