I love Princess, too. I grew up to the show, "the Love Boat". I've only taken one Princess cruise a couple months ago on The Regal Princess and loved it. I agree w/ everything you said. Really nice video. I especially loved the buffet. I was surprised how great the food is. Thank you.
It is a great all around experience for most ages for sure. The Love Boat connection is a bonus for sure - wish Princess would build a smaller ship and call it the Pacific Princess again, I’m sure it would be a hit.
@@CruisingCanucks I know, that would be great. On the show the Pacific Princess left out of Long Beach. Every Saturday night, in the 70's, I would watch The Love Boat and then Fantasy Island. I miss T.V. shows back then. That Love Boat show really helped the cruise industry. I'm glad Princess knows that.
I am Platinum with Princess…love their entertainment staff, entertainment, amazing buffet--we do eat every meal there (the line on our recent HAL cruise was horrible), International cafe, Alfredos, free room service, free, goodTV shows and movies in the cabin, laundry on every deck, wearing the Medallion on my wrist (my husband loses his room card on other lines), first run movies under the stars . Princess is still our favourite home away from home--very comfortable beds!!!!
I agree that one of the biggest mistakes that Princess has made is to eliminate assigned traditional dining. We were able to use the same "hack" that you did in requesting the same table each night as we were a party of four. Please bring this choice back.
Great video! We just sailed on our first Princess cruise. Also had some random charges on our account, but when you're still on the ship you don't have to go to guest services, you can live chat instead on the app! Super convenient, and it worked.
What a sweet "Love Letter" to Princess! Can't wait to cruise on Princess! Buffet looks/sounds wonderful and reminds me of HAL and RC with their East Indian foods. The kids section and vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free areas are the first I've seen! That kids section is such a great idea! Nightlife sounds absolutely fantastic and the educational parrot talk is a first! Enjoyed learning little facts about Princess such as how they play the "Love Boat" theme. I prefer smaller cruise ship size but I'm open to trying Princess and I believe I will like it, overall, too! Thanks for sharing!!
We just got off our first cruise ever and it was on Princess. As a mom with small kids (and in 2 separate rooms) we found that Medallion was amazing in allowing me to relax knowing that everything and everyone being tracked. It allowed the kids a bit of autonomy but they could always find us and we could always find them around the ship. And we opted to not have internet (digital detox) and this was nice so we were never searching for each other. And yes, the app could definitely use some work, but the base tech is there and it is definitely in the right direction!
We never thought about how useful it would be for parents travelling with children. When our children were young we were given a ship phone to carry everywhere because one of our kids have a severe nut and shellfish allergy. We thought that was high tech. Lol 😊
We love Princess! Regarding "traditional dining", it is somewhat camouflaged, but we just pre reserve the same time and dining room every night on the app, before we go and on the first night we let the staff know that we want the same table and time each night and have never had a problem.

This spring my wife and I did our first Princess cruise. We LOVED it! Your YT channel and content is well worth watching. We turned the non traditional dining to our advantage. If there was a must see early show we'd book first dinner seating. If we had a full day excursion, we'd book a later dinner time slot. Also for the first time ever we chose to sit with with other couples/families for dinner rather than sit by ourselves . Wow, we met so many interesting people. It really added to our overall experience! Plus we never had to wait for a table more than 3 minutes. And yes, I fought the medallion app tooth and nail, till I tried it. Sold! We're hooked on the Princess cruise line and will book again soon!

We've actually booked a mini-suite for a 14 day cruise and part of that was because we'd like a decent sized shower. The mini-suite has a tub/shower combination...so that will be nice. We haven't been back on Princess since the Medallion was instituted...but we're looking forward to it. Next cruise (our 5th with Princess) will be an 11 day with the family to Alaska and two months after that the two of us will be going to the British Isles. Can't wait!
I went on the Caribbean Princess early Dec 2023. I agree with almost everything you said. Buffet was excellent, so we stopped going to main dining. The crowd on the ship was very old almost everyone was 65 plus, so for a mid 40’s woman it was a bit dull, however my 82 year old mother loved it! :) The medalion was great, absolutely fantastic! However the internet was poor. I could check emails but could not stream anything. I disagree with the showers, the space was small, but the actual shower pressure you could control and it was absolutely heavenly shower, I loved the shower, and prefer curtain, this way my elbows don’t hit and rattle the glass shower doors. The other thing I disagreed with was theatre, I don’t know about the other Princess ships but the Caribbean had only one show good, Bravo, and the rest mediocre. I came off Royal Caribbean a week ago and their shows were spectacular and breathtaking! If Princess had those shows it would be my go to line! Aside from Princess and Royal Caribbean, I can’t comment on others. The food on Royal Caribbean was bad in buffet, too many smoking areas, and too many children. Princess did not have this problem.
Great review. We took our first Princess cruise last fall and we concur with all your likes and dislikes. We took an upgrade from an ocean view to a balcony and it was a great choice because we had been on the ship for 14 days in the Southern Caribbean. We had taken a balcony cabin on HAL prior to this cruise but somehow, the Caribbean Princess balcony felt more at home. Looking back at your comments, I would say that all the attributes that you mentioned, influenced our positive experience on this particular cruise. Although it was our first Princess cruise, we ended up purchasing the bracelet and the clip on for our medallions because we plan to be on other Princess cruises. In 18 days we will be in Europe on MSC for the first time on back to back cruises. Cheers!
Very comprehensive review. I will be on my first Princess cruise soon and I am looking forward to seeing how it compares to NCL and Carnival where I normally go.
Hopefully you have a great time. We certainly enjoyed it more than Carnival now. We are going in our first MSC cruise this year and will have to see how that compares.
I agree with most of what you highlighted. I’ve only been on one, but I really feel it is a nice mix of amenities and affordable. After your review, I regret never eating at the buffet other than for breakfast. In terms of entertainment, I didn’t like everything, but there was something for everyone. So very true that on a 7 night cruise, you really had to pick and choose. I can’t wait to go on another.

We had our first experience on Princess in January and we really enjoyed it! Beautiful ship (Enchanted Princess), great food, great staff and comfortable cabins. We're going back on Enchanted again next January! Thanks for a very comprehensive and fair review of your Princess experiences!
We just did our first Princess cruise and despite the variety on the buffet, we really didn't like everyone touching the serving utensils with any hand watching enforcement. Also the drink service was super slow. We'd often be done with breakfast before drinks were delivered. We loved the Allegro main dining room and ate there every night for the first time in over 500 days of cruises. The main theater entertainment was excellent. After 3 medallions, it worked very well. Princess Plus was nice. I totally agree with the small shower size.
We really enjoy Princess main dining rooms. The medallions are great. We loved not having to worry about unlocking the door to our cabin when we return from port with our hands full of camera gear. We also loved the main theatre show…. Just wish we could get bigger showers!

Yes! on curtains, who does that anymore? I like the late dining is at 7PM. Also the service. One thing I liked the best was the ease of reserving online. It was so fast and easy that I thought I had missed something. Ditto on the medallion and app.
Yes the booking on the app is so easy. We know some people that don't even use their showers with the curtain - they just head to the spa and use the showers in the change room there.
My family and I went on our first cruise last month and I had read about lineups at dining rooms on Princess. This wasn't much of an issue for us as we typically have dinner early (500pm or 520pm) and avoid the huge crush of people. We would then watch our theatre show and head on over to the buffet for later night munchies. It worked out really well for us. We absolutely loved the medallions too. It made life so much easier locating our family on board such a large vessel. My only real gripe would be the add on packages because they would never work for my family as I would be the only one who would ever consider an alcoholic drink, and I could not justify the overall cost.
The medallions are a great feature the Princess has. We really like not having to search for a ship key or find a place to store one. We agree with you that the drink packages are good only if both people in the cabin would make use of it. Hope you enjoyed your first cruise experience.🛳
@@CruisingCanucks We brought our child along so he's far too young to (legally) drink alcohol. The Plus package made even less sense then. That being said, we enjoyed our first cruise so much that I have booked our next cruise already. I don't know if I'm ready to say I'm hooked after one journey, but cruising is definitely far less stressful than flying or driving. My wife particularly enjoyed not having to drag our luggage around everywhere.
We agree with your wife. One of the things that we love about cruising was being able to unpack one day one and not touching your suitcase till you have to get ready to go home. Glad to hear that you like it so much that you booked a second one. Sounds like the beginnings of getting hooked! Lol🛳

We just got back from a Baltic cruise on the Sky Princess. The buffet food was mediocre, compared to prior Princess cruises and the wait staff was inconsistent. Sometimes we’d be halfway through lunch before a waiter showed up to ask if we wanted anything to drink. Our wait staff in the dining room was the best we’ve ever had.
That sounds wonderful!! Have a great cruise. We hear the Sky Princess just came out of dry-dock with some renovations. You will have to let us know all about it.
Great review on Princess! Would love to sail on Princess, just wish they sailed out of Port Canaveral, BUT with Brightline opening their route from Orlando to Miami soon, that might not be of concern. Will put it to the test in March on my Virgin Voyages cruise!
On our Caribbean Princess voyage, we experienced engine issues. Also, the club at the top aft of the ship was small and not well attended late at night. At least they offered that type of entertainment late at night. Thanks for the informative video!
Generally speaking the cabins on HAL have bigger bathroom and larger room space. You need to book a deluxe balcony on Princess in order to have the same size room as a veranda cabin on HAL. Princess has the most comfortable beds in our experience. Princess also is known for their large walk-in closets.

Just got off Princess Discovery two weeks ago. Excellent food; however, it took two hours to finish dinner in the MDR. We waited 10 min just for a dessert menu.
We have heard similar things about the MDR being a slow dining experience - we’ve never noticed cause that’s always a highlight for us to take our time and soak it up. We did think that if we wanted a quicker experienced that the buffet food was so good that we could to that if needed.
@@CruisingCanucks I think about 2 hr's. is about standard for dinner in the MDR. So what's the rush? We noticed that the waiters have more tables to attend to than they used to, so it going to take longer.
@@penelope5500we are on a Princess ship as we write this message. Our MDR dinners are running g about an hour and staffing is wonderful - as it was in MSC last month. We love a long quiet dinner, over a quick dinner. The buffet is always there for folks that want a quick option.

For your editing, that is a very. . . ahem. . .bold choice to use the classic horror suspense sound with each transition between topics. Are you perhaps mega horror film buffs? I totally get it if that's the case but otherwise I had a good laugh on your cruising talk being broken up by the sound that is typically accompanied by either a vicious death or jump scare in many a subpar film.
WE asked the head waiter at our first table if we could return every night. He took care of it and us. Traditional dining is one of the most important parts of our cruise experiance.

Out of the three ships you mentioned we have only been on the Caribbean Princess. We really loved the layout of that ship.Don’t think you can go wrong with Princess.

I’ve been thinking of booking us on a Princess Cruise, as we just want a local Melbourne to New Zealand round trip, nowhere fancy, as my DH doesn’t feel like flying anywhere exotic. There aren’t many options for that route at the moment, with Princess looking to be the best for us. (Cunard looks good, but I would have a better chance of getting DH onto plane than into a dinner suit.) From your description, Princess looks like a line I will be happy to book. Thanks for the plusses and negatives - the tip about the stray charges is useful to know.
Nice to hear someone else who liked Five Skies. I thought it was modern, innovative and fresh. So many people dislike it; think because it was so different from the usual shows. I must, however, disagree about the buffet. I like the food and the multiple options but I always have trouble finding a table and often my food is ice cold by the time I get seated. Sooo frustrating. 1
Yes we had some family onboard that didn't love Five Skies as much as us. It was so amazing. Ya we certainly didn't run into and problems for seating in the buffet. We wonder if it was timing - we often eat a very early lunch to miss the crowds. We only did breakfast once or twice and again it was earlier than most.
If you had to choose between Discovery Princess and HAL Eurodam for a cruise to Alaska which would you choose. I am having such a hard time. I like the idea of a smaller ship but I am afraid on HAL we will be bored. We are 60 and have always traveled Carnival. We don't get involved in the "Fun" however we love a great comedian and piano bar, trivia or shows. My husband likes the tables in the casino. I am choosing between these 2 in particular because of the ports and port times. I would appreciate your input. TIA
We would cruise the Discovery Princess. We find that Princess offers much more variety in terms of entertainment. We feel that Eurodam would be a quieter ship. let us know what you decide.🚢
I am very interested in Princess, but I'm turned off about the elimination of traditional dining! I saw on another blog a lady that had different table mates every night on Princess, so she didn't really get to know anybody.
We just saw that they now give us the option to book the same table and same time for the whole cruise. We just reserved our dining for our upcoming cruise like this. Hoping it works like it traditionally did.🛳

When you were charged mistakenly and then refunded, had Princess already charged your credit card, or do they wait until the end of the cruise and then charge your card for your entire balance? The reason I ask is that because with foreign transaction fees on my Canadian credit card, I am always charged an extra 2.5% above the exchange rate, and any refunds are reduce by 2.5%, so even if a mistake is refunded I end up losing 5%. Have you faced that issue with your refunded charges?
Nothing is charged to your card until you leave the ship. So as long as you check your statement and settle any issues while onboard, then you will be ok.
We were on the Regal Princess out of Galveston. Our main dining room experience was bad - unfriendly service, limited menu choices, and poor presentation. So after the first day we always went to the Horizon buffet. Great ambience and great food choices, but the buffet dishes were poorly light and poorly identified.
We are sure that you all will have a fabulous time. They have wonderful kids clubs on board. Also a kids section at the buffet that Mr.Canuck really recommends. On the Caribbean Princess there is a small kids water play area for smaller children.
I heard that the Caribbean Princess buffet is very small compared to other Princess ships. The Caribbean does not have the pastry station. Selections were very limited and Steamers and Planks BBQ is closed. I’m cruising the Caribbean Princess in October. Can you confirm if Steamers and Planks BBQ are closed and although the food is good, is the buffet smaller in size than the other ships? Thank you.
We have reached out to our Facebook group to see if anyone has an update. When we were on during July 2022 both Steamers and Planks were already shutdown. That space was being used for extra buffet space. If we hear anything more we will let you know.
On any Princess ships that we have been on there is no reservations . When the doors open you can simply walk in and sit anywhere. We tend to make our way towards the theatre around 30 minutes prior to showtime and generally get our pick of locations.
Great video xxx I'm thinking of booking Sea Princess from Southampton to the Mediterranean in September 2024 - it will be my dad's 80th birthday. It would be our second cruise after going on MSC virtuosa in March this year. Unfortunately dad and I got sickness bug days 4-7 lukewarm food - so it put us off a large mega ship and in particular buffet foods. I'm hearing good things about Princess cruises and thought I'd look into going with them this time.
All meals in the main dining room are included in the cruise fare. There are upcharges for some expensive dishes (lobster) but the majority of the menu is all free (part of the cruise.)
I am sorry, we found the buffet on Sky Princess very poor. That is over 4 weeks of cruising. The rest of the food was very good in MDR, Sabattinis, International Cafe, Alfredos. Very good cruise experience with some niggles. The shows were very good.
Can you make dining reservations for lunch? I was just on the app and was able to make dinner reservations but nothing was offered for breakfast and lunch.
You can not make a dinner reservation for lunch or breakfast. They just seat you once you arrive. A little trick that we like to do is on embarkation day walk through the empty dining an make a note of a few times you like. You can then request them when you go for breakfast and lunch if the are available.
This makes me so sad. We just got off the Royal Princess (first time on Princess) and our experience was totally opposite. The buffet was *awful* and the medallion app either never worked or, in two separate instances, took over two hours to get the order. In one case the order showed delivered but never was. We were SO excited to try Princess but felt that it was so awful. Kinda want to try it again but scared to!!
We were talking to friends last week that are Elite on Princess and we asked them what they thought the best Princess ship was and they said ‘Royal’ Now we are various curious based on what you found. Wonder if it varies from ship to ship or ship class to ship class. Try buffet on the Sky Princess was better than the Caribbean Princess - but only by size, not quality. Very interesting for sure.
I would LOVE to cruise with princess, BUT I am a solo traveler and until princess has solo cabins I cannot afford a princess cruise. Please everyone, encourage princess to offer solo cabins on their cruises
Our experience from the Sky Princess in January was that they waves the single supplement right around 90 days before the cruise. Not sure if they do it all the time or just when they are trying to fill a ship.
That’s great to hear. We love all the different cozy lounges and spaces all over the ship. So many pools too! Hopefully we get to sail on her again soon.

I will be going on my first Princess cruise in January. I booked flights through them and they keep chnging the flight schedule. This last one has a 30 min layover at a major airport. i know that isn't enough time so i will change it again. Why do they change once booked?
We have never booked our flights through the cruise however, we are dealing with the exact same issues with the airline companies. We just received notification of a flight change and we now have a 28 hour stop over on our return flight from Europe! Hopefully we can get that resolved. Best of luck!🤞
I saw a video that showed a man touching his princess medallion to the screen at his cabin door to unlock it. Is that necessary? I assumed that walking up to your cabin door would automatically unlock it. 🚢🌊
It isn’t necessary. However, there was one time when there was a couple walking in front of us going by our cabin and when we got to the door we did have to wave the medallion in front of the screen.🛳️
I cruises Alaska on Sapphire to AK first of the month and I didn't see much advantage to the Medallion unless you use it to order drinks out on deck or to locate lots of family members. The free Internet either was slow or just didn't work 1/3 to 1/2 the time on my Android phone.
If you don't want drinks or knowing where family are then the medallion works like your key/ship card. The medallion costs no extra so consider it a round ship card. We found the internet good - especially for a vessel bouncing around in the ocean.
i have a family of 4. gifting a graduation to one of the kiddos. first time ever cruise. I don't even know where to begin to get a deal everyone speaks of. PLEASE send me some cruise travel agent contacts with great deals on this Princess. JH

You think it would be an easy thing in the app to check 'same table same time' for those that want it - then all the freedom seeking diners can still book as they like
Unfortunately we don’t currently have a video out on insurance. We have been in talks about that very subject lately. We are looking into getting an annual travel insurance personally on the recommendation of a lot of fellow cruisers on our Facebook group.
Only a few weeks off the Majestic Princess. Buffet open for Breakfast 6am to 10am. If you arrived a few minutes before 10am no 🥓. Variety poor, often stews. While you walk around looking for a table. Once you find one. You are walking around looking for cutlery. Meals cool and disappointing. Majestic Princess over 140,000 tonnes and no night club. No catering for solo travellers. Entertainment theatre 🎭, Magic show, 2nd night, Ventriloquist, 3rd night Magic and Ventriloquist show. Entertainment was all on deck 5. Deck 5 was the night club from 11pm to 12 midnight. One bar had a classic piano and violin 🎻 at night. Have experience this before but only during the afternoon. With 70 cruises under my belt. I found this was the worst cruising experience I have ever had. Agree with you regarding the shower 🚿 with Majestic Princess being built in 2017, expected better showers not those clinging shower curtains.
I was under the impression that with the app now, you didn't need to waste time running to guest services when you had a problem. Is that not the case?
Been cruising princess for a few yrs & agree w most observations. But last 2 trips (1/23,& 3/23) I'm seeing a dip in passengers behavior / dress 😢.. I'm wondering if since they are owned by carnival that's driving the change ..I saw the biggest difference on Caribbean princess. And unfortunately that's the ship that they've chosen to use in brand new port for them ..Port Canaveral ..I was hoping they would bring in a newer ship..
Maybe the Star Princess will join the Caribbean Princess in 2025? Carnival has owned Princess for 20 years now, not sure if that would cause a recent change or not. We're finding that most cruises are seeing a change in dress code and formal nights. We prefer to be dressed up each night, but fear that many others don't feel the same.
We cruised for years with a child with a deadly peanut and seafood allergy. We used and taught self-advocacy to ask lots and pay close attention - and had this child with us on Princess without a problem. The best rule of thumb is to ask if your concern isn’t obvious from the look or description. We often find MDR menus labelled a little better - and waitstaff are often aware of your allergies as well.
Hi, love your videos! We are going on our first Princess Cruise in November from Florida . I want to know if the cruise is kept icy cold with air con or if they run a pleasant ambient temperature? I had a terrible experience on a Regent Seven Seas where the ship was more like a walk-in freezer !
We have found that generally the A\C is cooler in the dining rooms and theatres. We have found that Princess isn’t as cool as some others we have been on.

I am Platinum with Princess…love their entertainment staff, entertainment, amazing buffet--we do eat every meal there (the line on our recent HAL cruise was horrible), International cafe, Alfredos, free room service, free, goodTV shows and movies in the cabin, laundry on every deck, wearing the Medallion on my wrist (my husband loses his room card on other lines), first run movies under the stars . Princess is still our favourite home away from home--very comfortable beds!!!!

I agree that one of the biggest mistakes that Princess has made is to eliminate assigned traditional dining. We were able to use the same "hack" that you did in requesting the same table each night as we were a party of four. Please bring this choice back.

Great video! We just sailed on our first Princess cruise. Also had some random charges on our account, but when you're still on the ship you don't have to go to guest services, you can live chat instead on the app! Super convenient, and it worked.
I been on Princess 14 times but Celebraty is still my favorite im going on another cruise in March

Can't wait to cruise on Princess! Buffet looks/sounds wonderful and reminds me of HAL and RC with their East Indian foods. The kids section and vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free areas are the first I've seen! That kids section is such a great idea! Nightlife sounds absolutely fantastic and the educational parrot talk is a first! Enjoyed learning little facts about Princess such as how they play the "Love Boat" theme. I prefer smaller cruise ship size but I'm open to trying Princess and I believe I will like it, overall, too! Thanks for sharing!!

We just got off our first cruise ever and it was on Princess. As a mom with small kids (and in 2 separate rooms) we found that Medallion was amazing in allowing me to relax knowing that everything and everyone being tracked. It allowed the kids a bit of autonomy but they could always find us and we could always find them around the ship. And we opted to not have internet (digital detox) and this was nice so we were never searching for each other. And yes, the app could definitely use some work, but the base tech is there and it is definitely in the right direction!
We never thought about how useful it would be for parents travelling with children. When our children were young we were given a ship phone to carry everywhere because one of our kids have a severe nut and shellfish allergy. We thought that was high tech. Lol 😊
We love Princess! Regarding "traditional dining", it is somewhat camouflaged, but we just pre reserve the same time and dining room every night on the app, before we go and on the first night we let the staff know that we want the same table and time each night and have never had a problem.
Same as our experience - hopefully others make use of this 'hidden' option

This spring my wife and I did our first Princess cruise. We LOVED it! Your YT channel and content is well worth watching. We turned the non traditional dining to our advantage. If there was a must see early show we'd book first dinner seating. If we had a full day excursion, we'd book a later dinner time slot. Also for the first time ever we chose to sit with with other couples/families for dinner rather than sit by ourselves . Wow, we met so many interesting people. It really added to our overall experience! Plus we never had to wait for a table more than 3 minutes. And yes, I fought the medallion app tooth and nail, till I tried it. Sold! We're hooked on the Princess cruise line and will book again soon!

We've actually booked a mini-suite for a 14 day cruise and part of that was because we'd like a decent sized shower. The mini-suite has a tub/shower combination...so that will be nice.
We haven't been back on Princess since the Medallion was instituted...but we're looking forward to it. Next cruise (our 5th with Princess) will be an 11 day with the family to Alaska and two months after that the two of us will be going to the British Isles. Can't wait!
Think that once you get use to the medallion you will love how convenient it is. You have a couple amazing cruises booked. Have a fabulous time.
I went on the Caribbean Princess early Dec 2023. I agree with almost everything you said. Buffet was excellent, so we stopped going to main dining. The crowd on the ship was very old almost everyone was 65 plus, so for a mid 40’s woman it was a bit dull, however my 82 year old mother loved it! :) The medalion was great, absolutely fantastic! However the internet was poor. I could check emails but could not stream anything. I disagree with the showers, the space was small, but the actual shower pressure you could control and it was absolutely heavenly shower, I loved the shower, and prefer curtain, this way my elbows don’t hit and rattle the glass shower doors. The other thing I disagreed with was theatre, I don’t know about the other Princess ships but the Caribbean had only one show good, Bravo, and the rest mediocre. I came off Royal Caribbean a week ago and their shows were spectacular and breathtaking! If Princess had those shows it would be my go to line! Aside from Princess and Royal Caribbean, I can’t comment on others. The food on Royal Caribbean was bad in buffet, too many smoking areas, and too many children. Princess did not have this problem.
We’ve also found RCL entertainment very good. We find the Princess production shows good - we just wish there were more of them.
Traditional dining. We did the same thing. I think the wait staff enjoyed having the same passengers too.
We feel the same.

Great review. We took our first Princess cruise last fall and we concur with all your likes and dislikes. We took an upgrade from an ocean view to a balcony and it was a great choice because we had been on the ship for 14 days in the Southern Caribbean. We had taken a balcony cabin on HAL prior to this cruise but somehow, the Caribbean Princess balcony felt more at home. Looking back at your comments, I would say that all the attributes that you mentioned, influenced our positive experience on this particular cruise. Although it was our first Princess cruise, we ended up purchasing the bracelet and the clip on for our medallions because we plan to be on other Princess cruises. In 18 days we will be in Europe on MSC for the first time on back to back cruises. Cheers!

I agree with most of what you highlighted. I’ve only been on one, but I really feel it is a nice mix of amenities and affordable.

In terms of entertainment, I didn’t like everything, but there was something for everyone. So very true that on a 7 night cruise, you really had to pick and choose.

We just did our first Princess cruise and despite the variety on the buffet, we really didn't like everyone touching the serving utensils with any hand watching enforcement. Also the drink service was super slow. We'd often be done with breakfast before drinks were delivered.
We loved the Allegro main dining room and ate there every night for the first time in over 500 days of cruises. The main theater entertainment was excellent.
After 3 medallions, it worked very well. Princess Plus was nice.
I totally agree with the small shower size.
We really enjoy Princess main dining rooms. The medallions are great. We loved not having to worry about unlocking the door to our cabin when we return from port with our hands full of camera gear. We also loved the main theatre show…. Just wish we could get bigger showers!

Yes! on curtains, who does that anymore? I like the late dining is at 7PM. Also the service. One thing I liked the best was the ease of reserving online. It was so fast and easy that I thought I had missed something. Ditto on the medallion and app.
Yes the booking on the app is so easy. We know some people that don't even use their showers with the curtain - they just head to the spa and use the showers in the change room there.
My family and I went on our first cruise last month and I had read about lineups at dining rooms on Princess. This wasn't much of an issue for us as we typically have dinner early (500pm or 520pm) and avoid the huge crush of people. We would then watch our theatre show and head on over to the buffet for later night munchies. It worked out really well for us. We absolutely loved the medallions too. It made life so much easier locating our family on board such a large vessel. My only real gripe would be the add on packages because they would never work for my family as I would be the only one who would ever consider an alcoholic drink, and I could not justify the overall cost.
The medallions are a great feature the Princess has. We really like not having to search for a ship key or find a place to store one. We agree with you that the drink packages are good only if both people in the cabin would make use of it. Hope you enjoyed your first cruise experience.🛳
@@CruisingCanucks We brought our child along so he's far too young to (legally) drink alcohol. The Plus package made even less sense then. That being said, we enjoyed our first cruise so much that I have booked our next cruise already. I don't know if I'm ready to say I'm hooked after one journey, but cruising is definitely far less stressful than flying or driving. My wife particularly enjoyed not having to drag our luggage around everywhere.
We agree with your wife. One of the things that we love about cruising was being able to unpack one day one and not touching your suitcase till you have to get ready to go home. Glad to hear that you like it so much that you booked a second one. Sounds like the beginnings of getting hooked! Lol🛳

We just got back from a Baltic cruise on the Sky Princess. The buffet food was mediocre, compared to prior Princess cruises and the wait staff was inconsistent. Sometimes we’d be halfway through lunch before a waiter showed up to ask if we wanted anything to drink. Our wait staff in the dining room was the best we’ve ever had.

On our Caribbean Princess voyage, we experienced engine issues. Also, the club at the top aft of the ship was small and not well attended late at night. At least they offered that type of entertainment late at night. Thanks for the informative video!
The few nights we went to the club it was well attended - wonder if time of year or itinerary has an impact. It was early July for us.
Speaking strictly about cabins, how would you compare the overall appeal of a HAL balcony cabin vs. a Princess balcony cabin? Thank you :)
Generally speaking the cabins on HAL have bigger bathroom and larger room space. You need to book a deluxe balcony on Princess in order to have the same size room as a veranda cabin on HAL. Princess has the most comfortable beds in our experience. Princess also is known for their large walk-in closets.

The Princess Sanctuary is kind of like the HAL cabanas. We hope to have a video out about that soon to show how it works.

Just got off Princess Discovery two weeks ago. Excellent food; however, it took two hours to finish dinner in the MDR. We waited 10 min just for a dessert menu.
We have heard similar things about the MDR being a slow dining experience - we’ve never noticed cause that’s always a highlight for us to take our time and soak it up. We did think that if we wanted a quicker experienced that the buffet food was so good that we could to that if needed.
@@CruisingCanucks I think about 2 hr's. is about standard for dinner in the MDR. So what's the rush? We noticed that the waiters have more tables to attend to than they used to, so it going to take longer.
@@penelope5500we are on a Princess ship as we write this message. Our MDR dinners are running g about an hour and staffing is wonderful - as it was in MSC last month. We love a long quiet dinner, over a quick dinner. The buffet is always there for folks that want a quick option.

For your editing, that is a very. . . ahem. . .bold choice to use the classic horror suspense sound with each transition between topics. Are you perhaps mega horror film buffs? I totally get it if that's the case but otherwise I had a good laugh on your cruising talk being broken up by the sound that is typically accompanied by either a vicious death or jump scare in many a subpar film.
WE asked the head waiter at our first table if we could return every night. He took care of it and us. Traditional dining is one of the most important parts of our cruise experiance.

Out of the three ships you mentioned we have only been on the Caribbean Princess. We really loved the layout of that ship.Don’t think you can go wrong with Princess.

I’ve been thinking of booking us on a Princess Cruise, as we just want a local Melbourne to New Zealand round trip, nowhere fancy, as my DH doesn’t feel like flying anywhere exotic. There aren’t many options for that route at the moment, with Princess looking to be the best for us. (Cunard looks good, but I would have a better chance of getting DH onto plane than into a dinner suit.) From your description, Princess looks like a line I will be happy to book. Thanks for the plusses and negatives - the tip about the stray charges is useful to know.

We always get a mini suite. A bit bigger cabin and a big tub/shower. I did an inside cabin once, and it was not for me. I like the extra space.
We kind of wish the balconies were a middle ground between the inside and suites for shower size, but no, all tiny except suites.

We were on the Emerald Princess around ten years ago. We really enjoyed the ship but we are sure there are a lot of changes since we have been on it.
Nice to hear someone else who liked Five Skies. I thought it was modern, innovative and fresh. So many people dislike it; think because it was so different from the usual shows. I must, however, disagree about the buffet. I like the food and the multiple options but I always have trouble finding a table and often my food is ice cold by the time I get seated. Sooo frustrating. 1
Yes we had some family onboard that didn't love Five Skies as much as us. It was so amazing. Ya we certainly didn't run into and problems for seating in the buffet. We wonder if it was timing - we often eat a very early lunch to miss the crowds. We only did breakfast once or twice and again it was earlier than most.
How would you book the chefs table on princess? This is my first cruise in the discovery coming up and we would love to try it.
We believe you have Chef's Table once you get onboard. We've never done it - but start with guest services or one of the dining room staff.
If you had to choose between Discovery Princess and HAL Eurodam for a cruise to Alaska which would you choose. I am having such a hard time. I like the idea of a smaller ship but I am afraid on HAL we will be bored. We are 60 and have always traveled Carnival. We don't get involved in the "Fun" however we love a great comedian and piano bar, trivia or shows. My husband likes the tables in the casino. I am choosing between these 2 in particular because of the ports and port times. I would appreciate your input. TIA
We would cruise the Discovery Princess. We find that Princess offers much more variety in terms of entertainment. We feel that Eurodam would be a quieter ship. let us know what you decide.🚢

We just saw that they now give us the option to book the same table and same time for the whole cruise. We just reserved our dining for our upcoming cruise like this. Hoping it works like it traditionally did.🛳

When you were charged mistakenly and then refunded, had Princess already charged your credit card, or do they wait until the end of the cruise and then charge your card for your entire balance? The reason I ask is that because with foreign transaction fees on my Canadian credit card, I am always charged an extra 2.5% above the exchange rate, and any refunds are reduce by 2.5%, so even if a mistake is refunded I end up losing 5%. Have you faced that issue with your refunded charges?
Nothing is charged to your card until you leave the ship. So as long as you check your statement and settle any issues while onboard, then you will be ok.

We were on the Regal Princess out of Galveston. Our main dining room experience was bad - unfriendly service, limited menu choices, and poor presentation. So after the first day we always went to the Horizon buffet. Great ambience and great food choices, but the buffet dishes were poorly light and poorly identified.

Great video - we have a 10-day Princess cruise and are bringing two kids - 8 and 12. We know Princess isn't totally geared for kids - Any thoughts?
We are sure that you all will have a fabulous time. They have wonderful kids clubs on board. Also a kids section at the buffet that Mr.Canuck really recommends.
On the Caribbean Princess there is a small kids water play area for smaller children.
I am 6’7” those showers are a joke so we always get a mini suite, has tub/shower combination.
Wow - you are very tall!! You'd certainly have to be strategic about showers and all things that us shorter folks don't even think about.
I heard that the Caribbean Princess buffet is very small compared to other Princess ships. The Caribbean does not have the pastry station. Selections were very limited and Steamers and Planks BBQ is closed. I’m cruising the Caribbean Princess in October. Can you confirm if Steamers and Planks BBQ are closed and although the food is good, is the buffet smaller in size than the other ships? Thank you.
We have reached out to our Facebook group to see if anyone has an update. When we were on during July 2022 both Steamers and Planks were already shutdown. That space was being used for extra buffet space. If we hear anything more we will let you know.
How do you get seats for the main production shows? Can you book them with your medallion?

On any Princess ships that we have been on there is no reservations . When the doors open you can simply walk in and sit anywhere. We tend to make our way towards the theatre around 30 minutes prior to showtime and generally get our pick of locations.

I'm thinking of booking Sea Princess from Southampton to the Mediterranean in September 2024 - it will be my dad's 80th birthday. It would be our second cruise after going on MSC virtuosa in March this year.
Unfortunately dad and I got sickness bug days 4-7 lukewarm food - so it put us off a large mega ship and in particular buffet foods.
I'm hearing good things about Princess cruises and thought I'd look into going with them this time.

Do you have to pay extra for traditional dining in the dining room?
All meals in the main dining room are included in the cruise fare. There are upcharges for some expensive dishes (lobster) but the majority of the menu is all free (part of the cruise.)

I am sorry, we found the buffet on Sky Princess very poor. That is over 4 weeks of cruising. The rest of the food was very good in MDR, Sabattinis, International Cafe, Alfredos. Very good cruise experience with some niggles. The shows were very good.

Can you make dining reservations for lunch? I was just on the app and was able to make dinner reservations but nothing was offered for breakfast and lunch.
You can not make a dinner reservation for lunch or breakfast. They just seat you once you arrive. A little trick that we like to do is on embarkation day walk through the empty dining an make a note of a few times you like. You can then request them when you go for breakfast and lunch if the are available.

This makes me so sad. We just got off the Royal Princess (first time on Princess) and our experience was totally opposite. The buffet was *awful* and the medallion app either never worked or, in two separate instances, took over two hours to get the order. In one case the order showed delivered but never was. We were SO excited to try Princess but felt that it was so awful. Kinda want to try it again but scared to!!
We were talking to friends last week that are Elite on Princess and we asked them what they thought the best Princess ship was and they said ‘Royal’ Now we are various curious based on what you found. Wonder if it varies from ship to ship or ship class to ship class. Try buffet on the Sky Princess was better than the Caribbean Princess - but only by size, not quality. Very interesting for sure.
I would LOVE to cruise with princess, BUT I am a solo traveler and until princess has solo cabins I cannot afford a princess cruise. Please everyone, encourage princess to offer solo cabins on their cruises
Our experience from the Sky Princess in January was that they waves the single supplement right around 90 days before the cruise. Not sure if they do it all the time or just when they are trying to fill a ship.

Thank-you. I have had success shopping at Ross,T.J Max when in the states. Lately I have ordered online but the quality of the fabric can be tricky when ordering on-line.

I had little success with using the app to order food. Out of the four times I tried, it only worked once.
That is unfortunate. We always say “when it works it’s great but it doesn’t always work!”
I will be going on my first Princess cruise in January. I booked flights through them and they keep chnging the flight schedule. This last one has a 30 min layover at a major airport. i know that isn't enough time so i will change it again. Why do they change once booked?
We have never booked our flights through the cruise however, we are dealing with the exact same issues with the airline companies. We just received notification of a flight change and we now have a 28 hour stop over on our return flight from Europe! Hopefully we can get that resolved. Best of luck!🤞

I saw a video that showed a man touching his princess medallion to the screen at his cabin door to unlock it. Is that necessary? I assumed that walking up to your cabin door would automatically unlock it. 🚢🌊
Oh…and one of my favorite things is to watch The Love Boat in my cabin at the end of the night. I just love it! 🩵🚢
It isn’t necessary. However, there was one time when there was a couple walking in front of us going by our cabin and when we got to the door we did have to wave the medallion in front of the screen.🛳️

I cruises Alaska on Sapphire to AK first of the month and I didn't see much advantage to the Medallion unless you use it to order drinks out on deck or to locate lots of family members. The free Internet either was slow or just didn't work 1/3 to 1/2 the time on my Android phone.
If you don't want drinks or knowing where family are then the medallion works like your key/ship card. The medallion costs no extra so consider it a round ship card. We found the internet good - especially for a vessel bouncing around in the ocean.

If it’s a cruise for young people, book Royal Caribbean, the crowd on Princess is too old for them.
jerry and jill hi my darlings . please may i ask . i have brought the princess plus drinks package so obviously drinks are free ,but i have heard a worrying rumour that they are charging 18% surcharge on top and people are gettign a frightning bill at end of cruise can you look into it for me cheers love dave xxx
We have never been charged the 18%. It is included in the package when you bought the package. 🍸🍹

Unfortunately we don’t currently have a video out on insurance. We have been in talks about that very subject lately. We are looking into getting an annual travel insurance personally on the recommendation of a lot of fellow cruisers on our Facebook group.

Only a few weeks off the Majestic Princess. Buffet open for Breakfast 6am to 10am. If you arrived a few minutes before 10am no 🥓.
Variety poor, often stews.
While you walk around looking for a table. Once you find one. You are walking around looking for cutlery. Meals cool and disappointing.
Majestic Princess over 140,000 tonnes and no night club. No catering for solo travellers.
Entertainment theatre 🎭, Magic show, 2nd night, Ventriloquist, 3rd night Magic and Ventriloquist show.
Entertainment was all on deck 5. Deck 5 was the night club from 11pm to 12 midnight. One bar had a classic piano and violin 🎻 at night. Have experience this before but only during the afternoon. With 70 cruises under my belt. I found this was the worst cruising experience I have ever had. Agree with you regarding the shower 🚿 with Majestic Princess being built in 2017, expected better showers not those clinging shower curtains.
That's too bad. We are on a Princess ship right now and had no problem with bacon and cutlery is at the tables in the buffet. Off to have more fun….

You are correct. You can simply message guest services if you have an issue.
Been cruising princess for a few yrs & agree w most observations. But last 2 trips (1/23,& 3/23) I'm seeing a dip in passengers behavior / dress 😢.. I'm wondering if since they are owned by carnival that's driving the change ..I saw the biggest difference on Caribbean princess.
And unfortunately that's the ship that they've chosen to use in brand new port for them ..Port Canaveral ..I was hoping they would bring in a newer ship..
Maybe the Star Princess will join the Caribbean Princess in 2025?
Carnival has owned Princess for 20 years now, not sure if that would cause a recent change or not. We're finding that most cruises are seeing a change in dress code and formal nights. We prefer to be dressed up each night, but fear that many others don't feel the same.

About the buffet, how is it for folx with serious food allergies?
We cruised for years with a child with a deadly peanut and seafood allergy. We used and taught self-advocacy to ask lots and pay close attention - and had this child with us on Princess without a problem. The best rule of thumb is to ask if your concern isn’t obvious from the look or description. We often find MDR menus labelled a little better - and waitstaff are often aware of your allergies as well.

Hi, love your videos! We are going on our first Princess Cruise in November from Florida . I want to know if the cruise is kept icy cold with air con or if they run a pleasant ambient temperature? I had a terrible experience on a Regent Seven Seas where the ship was more like a walk-in freezer !
We have found that generally the A\C is cooler in the dining rooms and theatres. We have found that Princess isn’t as cool as some others we have been on.
