The reason there’s so little countries with purple flags is that purple dye wasn’t really invented until the end of the 19th century.
It was invented in the 15th century but was incredibly expensive and used for royal documents mostly. It became popularized around 1850 when they synthesized it. There are only about 15 flags that predate 1850, and the one flag that has purple, Dominica, adopted their flag in 1990. The only other two flags to ever use purple have since been changed.
While the cost of purple dye played a factor in the past, I feel like for a long time countries avoided the color almost out of tradition.

Dominican Republic (Mariano's Nation) doesn't even have purple in the flag, Dominica does, along with Nicaragua. Leaving 0 players in FUT with purple in their flag. All 3 Jack named aren't even purple.
Mozambique has a little purple on the bird in the flag
