I have the Evazars ; I am pretty sure that they're more oil than wax😊 . I like them but I love my polychromos pencils so probably that's why..they feel quite similar as to layering properties etc. You give great reviews, thanks!
Hi there, so glad you did a review on these as I bought these just a couple of weeks ago, another set of pencils which I didn't need!! I kept reading the reviews and looking at the product pics and i talked myself into getting into buying these. They do have a Polychromos feel & look about them and despite not being as good as the big boys of the colouring pencil world , I have to say i wasn't too disappointed as i did enjoy using them, but that is the gamble you gave to take. Besides any colouring pencil manufactures that take the time, effort & money to print the colour name of each pencil.....they get my respect as for me that is a big deal. A friend at work who is into his coloring books ( he finds it really therapeutic), i wouldn't feel so bad parting with these, if they're not lying around to remind me of buying in haste, in time i shall forget about them! There are just 3 sets of pencils on my radar that i just need to complete my essentials list, The brilliant Derwent Chromoflow ( Set of 72 ), i already have the small tin of 24 which i bought to test the waters and they are amazing, The second is the Faber Castell Albrech Duerer Watercolour Pencils ( Set of 120 ) and finally the new set of Derwent Inktense Pencils ( Set of 100 ). With Amazon Prime just around the corner I think the Derwent Chromoflow is definitely going to be joing the family soon and as for the other two i shall get them whenever I can.....AND THEN THAT'S IT!! I'm not sure if you have done a review of the Derwent Chromoflow colouring pencils, but they are amazing, i can't wait to get my set! A great review, Well Done!
New pencils are always so tempting!I haven't reviewed the Derwent Chromaflows yet, but have been using them this month, so will do a playdate with them soon. Definitely worth waiting for Prime Day (and Black Friday!) for pencil bargains! 🥰
I have another comparison for you. I have fallen in love with my Derwent Chromaflow for my many Mythographic books.. I use a marker base and shade and highlight over the top with pencils, and there are so many tiny areas the thin 3.3mm cores of the Chromaflow are lovely. I always wish for more colors though since they only come in 72 shades. I was looking around trying to find a good quality pencil with soft lay down but that thin core.. most artist quality pencils are super thick, it seems to be the trend now. I remembered the Faber Castell Goldfaber, which I had actually rehomed quite a long time ago. I have a local craft store that sells them open stock so I grabbed some I thought were different than my Chromaflow.. and was shocked to find while testing them out they are almost identical in performance. I literally couldn't tell them apart in swatches and blends. So if anyone has one and wants more colors try the other.. they are both sold open stock but in comparing the full sets there are a lot of different shades. In particular more earth greens, and several that fill a needed gap in transitional colors for blends. I'm going to rebuy the full set of Goldfaber (it's 48 so not massive) and mix the two into one set I think.
Really enjoyed this Lily, I have been thinking of getting them but the price keeps going up and now I have seen them I think I will stick with my Brutfuner Pencils. Thank you so much for your honest opinions on these and all your videos, very much appreciated ❤
Hi lily what an amazing upload.. I love it when we have an in-depth upload on how pencils perform it really helps me out thank you so much for this amazing video 🥰😘
What a great review - thank you. I’m so glad you didn’t swatch them but rather colour with them. Like so many pencils I suspect they are made in Shanghai at the same factory where they make Brutfuner, Castle Arts and Arteza. Personally I don’t like the Castle Arts pencils at all, and have recently gone right off Arteza - now these have arrived! I have a lot of pencils - Caran d’Ache Luminous and Pablos, a full set of Holbeins, also Prismacolour and Faber Castell Polychromous, even some cheaper ones too like Arteza , B&H and Brutfuner. I have so many sets because have been trying to replace my all time favourites - my set of Karismacolour by Berol (the original Prismas, same shades but great quality). I got out my old Karismas recently to colour a picture - and was surprised that the Evazars were as good, if not better. I LOVE these pencils. So creamy and such rich pigment. I know some think they are more like Polychromous but honestly Ive arthritis in both hands and these don’t hurt to use at all. In fact I’m stunned how much I love them. Whilst swatching them two tins of other pencils arrived, both having been on order for a few weeks. Loved the Artisto, - limited shades but great reds - and they work well with the Evazar. The other box were the Artxx - didn’t like them at all despite having similar shades to Prismas so have returned them as being too variable in quality. My search for my replacements for my Karismas I think is now over. Really really enjoying these Evazars , just wish they were open stock.
Hi Lily, another fun video! My favorite pencils are Polys and the Tombow Irojitens. Irojitens are oil based and have quite an assortment of pastels that Polys lack. What other brand would you say are closest to Polys as an alternative? ❤
Ooo I must try the Irojitens, as I agree the polys don't have many light colours. Oooo good question about an alternative, both the Kalour and the Evazar are firm like the Polys but not as pigmented. 🥰
I've owned these for about 7 months now and quite like them to the point where I may get another set should the price go down (I only paid $36 for my set). I just colored some flowers (Amazon paper) using the same 3 pinks (I think they were the same ) as yours and thought the laydown and pigment were fine but im not an expert colorist even though I do own alot of pencils 😂I enjoy watching your channel, thanks for sharing!
They are nice pencils and they blended well, even on Amazon paper. I got mine for under £40 but they’re currently £69 which is a bit steep for them. Enjoy! 🥰
I have had these pencils for at least 6 months and I really like them they work well on most paper . I love my arrtx pencils to and there’s difference I think these do blend better than the arrtx pencils I like my fc polys to these are my 3 pencils brands I reach for first. Then all the other sets are once in a while 😂

Hi Lily, I have been using my Derwent pencils ( Procolour, Chromaflow and Coloursoft) recently, now that is not to say I don't use my Brutfuners as well on the same page. I have found mix and match is the way forward so another set of chinese pencils would not bother me unless it had a mass of colours I do not already own. A great review as usual and since you smell the aromas as you unpack I have started to do the same (absolute madness) must stop it!!
@@ArtJourneyUK Procolour - I have found that for what is / seems a hard pencil you have to be very light on touch and be prepared to blend, layer and go over the paper more than once. The Chromaflow are superb and lay down colour in one pass. The Coloursoft are just that soft, do not use these so much although great for small background areas. Brutfuner for the money are superb. That uneven wood is indeed a very crooked core. Many brands are capping ends but you can always tell by the tips. Crooked cores are prevalent at every price point if you know how to look.. All my Derwents have them, the lightfast are just awful. I have one red lightfast that is just as bad as that pink, you have to peel the wood back to even use it.
