I've watched every episode of this roof project, and I have to say that that is probably the most extremely excellent job I've ever seen--not that I've seen a lot. Bravo! Really!
Every time you come home, you are going to see that roof and get a huge sense of satisfaction. It’s stunning in the way that only attention to detail can be. You should be proud.
Well done, you've just shown professionals how to do it. Beautifull looking, neat and tidy and the flashing just wow. You should be very proud of yourself.
That roof! That roof will easily last another 100 years! That one ridge tile you found - I found it satisfying to know it had been removed from some other roof, sitting on a shelf for who knows how long, and now it has a place of prominence once again. Well done!!
We've watched all the way through nearly all your projects, and look forward to the next. However, this roof has been nothing short of impressive! You certainly did all the added grunt work needed to end with a master finish. We both watched and decided that the finished roof is just beautiful. And the prettiest roof in all the views around you. Our opinion. Thanks for the continuous inspiration and instruction.
Hi Tim.... and family, I've just watched this final video of the roof transformation, I must say it has been inspiring stuff, your attention to detail and craftmanship throughout the whole project is something I would like to think I would do in my future (smaller) projects, well done now on with the new workshop, at least some of that can be done inside. Many congratulations
Well done, the roof looks stunning mate. The guys that originally made the house will be happy and proud of that work. Sbr is good call on any mix I do, makes spreding muck easier and waterproofs the mix, also fibres are good to add, they really make strong mix. Keep up the good work. From Bill
Excellent attention to detail here Tim. The roof looks fantastic. And you are right, working at height drains one mentally and physically. 10 out of 10 mate. Well done!.
Tim, we de-commissioned an internal boiler this year and removed 3 bags of sticks etc from crows nesting, now sealed forever. Last year I had a stainless flu liner installed in another chimney and boys that stuff is expensive so hang on to it as its not scrap. Enjoy all the vlogs and well done to your beautiful video editor, super wifey.
Top job Tim, having done a similar roof project myself it sometimes feels like it goes on forever when your on your own day after day but there’s a lot of satisfaction to be had once your down. Great channel and content buddy 👊
Extremely interesting!!!! if a bit scary at times.... Like your little girl, I'm a redhead, hope shel loves it like I have,, but without the redheaded temper, which took years to control.
Other than your dedication to excellent work I’m super impressed with your lack of fear being up on that scaffolding/roof ... I can barely operate at the top of a regular ladder 😂
Jackdaws keen to see your work, were they asking when they can move back in? 😂 I know it’s too late, but I would say you might want some insect mesh over those chimney breath holes/chopped pipes. Might still get some wee birds in or wasps.
Fair play just watched a load of your videos! Well done on the roof! I need to my roof thinking of doing it myself! How much do you think you saved doing it yourself?
Hi. I notice that the extractor fan from the cooker goes up and chimney, is there anything that you need to apart from lining the flue. Do you need a higher fan rating or can it be a standard extraction fan.
holy cow, if you can, do it your self taken to it's extreme, what an amazing outcome, great job Tim, but a bit over my skill level and wife trust level, so my roof will be left to the.. ahem.. professionals
Yes, very secure and easy to do repairs too. I still think I could have nailed the front for aesthetics but as it’s quite a high roof it’s not that visible. Video out soon on the slates and why I went with hooks coming soon though. 👍
No just up 300mm and out the side wall. The flue I removed actually went through the external wall into what was the garage, hence why I cut the last bit off.
I'd guess tens of thousands. Materials are typically about 40% of the cost of job, our roof is going to be £25,000 all in for materials and only buying about 1/3rd of slate (reusing the rest). That's not including freight. So even with Tim using a much cheaper slate than we are forced to, our labour cost could be upwards of £35-40k so a big saving for DIY.
The wind is going to catch the lead at the front and rear bottom corners of the stacks , those bits should have been trimmed and dressed differently. Once the scaffold comes down you'll regret it. I am a roofer mate, I'm not criticising, only trying to help.. 👍take care.
No mechanical fixings in ridge tiles? Who thought putting plastic pipe in was a good idea? Should have put the pots back on with clay inserts. Much more in keeping. And not stupid.
No, it was the old boiler flue which went through the bottom wall out to where the garage was. The hood is ducted out the side wall, but that’s to be redone this year at some point too. 👍
As a roofing contractor myself, I’ve been eagerly awaiting each roofing video. Excited to see the full-length documentary!

Just got to say that is a brilliant job, better than most professionals ,and a lots of attention to detail ,hats off to you Tim
Well done Sir. All that hard work paid off. Congratulations.
fantastic job mate, full respect to you for taking that job on, its not really a DIY job but you made it look easy. Well done.
Great job! But no surprise, always great attention to detail and no short cuts. Now enjoy!
Can't wait to see the drone intro with the new roof
I’ve been thinking the same watching the roof reno come along! It really is awesome .
That’s a amazing rooftop

Top job can not believe you washed your roof now that's attention to detail 👍😁
Well done Tim, great job you should be very proud! Epic DIY effort - not for the feint hearted!
Superb Job done! Fantastic!
Tim - looks great. Well done for sticking with it and finishing the roof.
Excellent Job. Well done!
Amazing work - really enjoying the films. 👍
Roof looks fantastic and I love the colour of the paint you've used. A job very well done.
You are a perfectionist. It looks great
Fantastic job. So much dedication and attention to detail.👍🏻
Great job, really enjoyed the sharing some of the experience 👍🏼
Hats off to you Tim 🎩
That looks absolutely amazing
What a fantastic result 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Roof is great! Clean lines, neat. Thanks for the video.
Beautiful job
That looks lovely. It's a job I will never do myself!
Fred Dibnah would be proud of those chimneys.
Stunning job …there won't be many as accomplished as this remaining in Britain
Amazing video, even better work, your hard work has seriously paid off.
White T shirt ... excellent choice of work cloths for a chimney job !
I can see Daz sponsoring the next video 👍
Very very very well done Tim👏👏👏👏👍 excellent job. Regards Jim.
Amazing job. Well done. Top effort. Onto the workshop now 👍🏼
The roof is finally finished ! Can I get a Hallelujah???? :-))))))))

Nice finish to the roof project, bring on the workshop.
It’s a good job you got the chimneys cleared just in time for Father Christmas. That is a really tidy job on the roof.
It was a little odd to be up there on Christmas Eve in a Father Christmas hat while capping off the chimney! 😂
Well done, I bet you are relived that is all done!
The roof looks great 👍 job well done 👏
I loved this !
Fantastic job, well done, it looks beautiful

Brilliant job Tim. 👍
awesome job!
Stunning job.
Well done. Looks great...

Superb. Well done.
Cracking job!!

Tim's gonna go nuts when a bird poops on this roof lol
Well done that man
You've prove that you can, by doing it yourself. I'm not too sure about most of us others though.
Awesome.
First 3 mins is like an episode of some mothers do ave em 🤣 ooooh!
Really good, will you do a video covering cost, how much you saved compared to getting a company in?
Fair play just watched a load of your videos! Well done on the roof! I need to my roof thinking of doing it myself! How much do you think you saved doing it yourself?

8:29 Is this Heaven?? We have nothing this cool in America.
holy cow, if you can, do it your self taken to it's extreme, what an amazing outcome, great job Tim, but a bit over my skill level and wife trust level, so my roof will be left to the.. ahem.. professionals
How do you feel about having used the slate hooks? Would you use them if you were to do it again?
Yes, very secure and easy to do repairs too. I still think I could have nailed the front for aesthetics but as it’s quite a high roof it’s not that visible. Video out soon on the slates and why I went with hooks coming soon though. 👍
110% attention to detail there tim
nooice
Surprised you didn’t put some false chimney pots on
I would have done some pots but by the time I bought 8 of those then the cowls it’s getting on for £700 and I’d rather have a roof on my workshop. 😀
@@TheRestorationCouple If price was the issue you could have put a couple of repros on each chimney just to finish the look off
What everyone below is saying 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙋🏻♀️💕🇬🇧jane
Where does the cooker flue go? Also right up to the roof? I'm sure you showed us in a video many years ago, sorry i dont recall :)
No just up 300mm and out the side wall. The flue I removed actually went through the external wall into what was the garage, hence why I cut the last bit off.

You are a very clever guy, wish I had your time and confidence 👍👍
Unbelievable job Tim. Have you worked out the financial benefits compared to contracting it out?
Looks like you're on CLEANING-UP duties for the next week or so then ?? :-)
9:31 bird on chimney! Pest!
Trojan effort, great job,,,,, apart from 😜 ❤
So I guess that chimney is not being used otherwise the plastic might melt.
Correct.
The wind is going to catch the lead at the front and rear bottom corners of the stacks , those bits should have been trimmed and dressed differently. Once the scaffold comes down you'll regret it. I am a roofer mate, I'm not criticising, only trying to help.. 👍take care.
No air vents at the ridge?
No.
Helluvajob
Not sure if are already aware and chose not to? Ridge tiles when fitted should be mechanically fixed even when bedded.
They lasted 120 years just fine, I’m not going to reinvent the wheel. 👍
@@TheRestorationCouple what was your thinking behind slate hooks rather than nails if the slate lasted so long with nails?
I’ve always wondered... who’s Will?
😂 Will was giving me a hand once a week with some jobs (and filming) , he is a family friend who lives locally.
great job , you can take tomorrow off
Thanks!
Havnt you finished the house yet???
I agrre with washing it all down, I'd do the same. Too much work/time invested to risk it not looking its best.
No mechanical fixings in ridge tiles? Who thought putting plastic pipe in was a good idea? Should have put the pots back on with clay inserts. Much more in keeping. And not stupid.
tim why take the flu liner out,it was connected to your cooker hood wont it mate
I think it was an old liner he was taking out, looks like he was leaving the extraction hood one.
No, it was the old boiler flue which went through the bottom wall out to where the garage was. The hood is ducted out the side wall, but that’s to be redone this year at some point too. 👍
Do you have a job or just spend your whole life renovating a house?
Bit of both now! I tend to be able to manage most of my day job in the evenings which helps free up some time during the week. 👍
@@TheRestorationCouple
Good luck to ya 👍
Algorithm post.
Excellent job Tim 👏👏👌🏻👍
