What a good video, Peter. The image is really crisp. It may be a feature of the class 170 cab but it was much easier to read the dials on 15 inch laptop than in some classes, especially the HST. Thank you very much. Roger Crick
Roger Crick Awesome, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Yes the Class 170 has larger dials than some trains which makes them easier to read. I know on some trains it can be quite difficult to see the speeds I'm travelling at! Thank you for your comment :) Pete
Stuart JohnModels It's a little way off yet, but it's one that will be done within the next month :) I'm currently working on the scenario for the Glasgow Circular video and also thinking about how I can create these documentaries :)
neonballroom93 I'm sure there will be another sale soon! This is a really nice route to drive if you like fast passenger runs with a few stops in between. The additional loop and freight yard at Grangemouth add to the value. :) Awesome, thanks! I came up with the idea last month. It's going to be time consuming to research and put together but I'm hoping to do something towards the end of this month. I'd like to get a new headset with a better mic first before I record them I think!
Top notch route learner again. This is a great route isn't it? I've traveled this line a fair few times having friends in Stirling and it is pretty accurate. The 170s are pretty sluggish to accelerate, having been on a fair few, though they're also a pretty quiet and smooth ride as well. Good to see you now have a few Patreons as well. Let me know if you'd like help in any research for the documentary style videos.
William Mankelow Thanks William! Yes this is a great route, I've always really enjoyed driving it. It's also the first route I attempted to learn a couple of years ago. :) Having travelled on Class 171s around here, they are definitely sluggish to accelerate! They aren't my favourite DMUs but they are quite nice look I think :) Yes up to four Patreons now with another saying they are hoping to sign up to it soon. I'm about 25% of the way to getting a new computer later this year now which was always one of the reasons I wanted to do this project :) I will certainly let you know if I need any help. Thanks for the offer! :)
good video, however to be slightly pedantic there were two mistakes: 1. If this scenario was set in 2002, the Bathgate junction was incorrect as there were no electric lines on the joining route or afterwards until 2012. 2. It appeared you stopped at platform 7 intead of 11; that is because that platform is split into two, with the front being platform 11 and where you stopped as platform 7. Still very intersting regardless of these thanks :)
Joseph Cunningham Unfortunately, the routes are made in a certain era but if you set a scenario in a different era, you can change the trains but not the route itself. :)
Another great video as always :-), really enjoy watching your videos!! Do you know at Edinburgh when you went platform 11 was a long one, I think it went to the lights and then after that it looked like it went on platform 7 when you stopped, just thought I'd mention it sorry!!
jordan hagan Thanks Jordan :) It might well have been that platform! I just drove to where the HUD said I should stop in the practice runs. If it is Platform 7 then I stand corrected :)
Hi there, really enjoying your vids, loving some of the routes, you give good info too! Wondering if the Airdrie-Bathgate route to Helensburgh/Milngavie is avaialable, and if so would you be able to do a video on it in future? thanks alot! :-)
+Rory Hand Thank you! Unfortunately I don't think those routes are currently in Train Simulator - though I think an extension to Helensburgh may be on the way. I will certainly cover those routes if they become available :)
My apologies in advance for the long windednes of my question. I do not use train sim myself and realy have no desier to do so, but realy enjoy your videos. I have heard mention a few times of super elevation what is meant by that (if it's not a too technical answer to give in a comment.) If so perhaos you could mention it in a future upload and explain if you can. Again thanks for the vids I realy do enjoy them.
TheBarnem13 No problem. I'm glad to hear that you enjoy these videos even though you don't play Train Simulator! I've tried to make these to appeal to those who don't play the game but like trains :) Superelevation is when the track is slightly tilted on a curve. It gives a more comfortable ride and means trains can take curves at higher speeds. Think of it like when riding a bike. When you turn, you tilt the bike a bit to allow you to take the turn faster. The difference here is that it's not the train itself which is tilting, but the track which then tilts the train. You will notice it on quite a few of my videos :)
I have this route, Faversham and WCML North. I must say this route is well worth the money, and is probably the best I have

This route looks fantastic, I really regret not buying it in the sales now! D: I like the sound of those documentary videos, looking forward to that!

your knowledge of trains amazes me. where did you learn everything about you know about trains?
