Awesome race. I unfortunately found out recently we lost Bobby last Saturday. Rest in peace to a true legend to the sport of stock car racing. At least he was able to live long enough to see his 85th win awarded to him after 53 years in the making. God speed to ya Bobby, you are with Judy, Clifford, and Davey now. ❣️🙏
A few notes about this race. This race marked was the first victory for Roger Penske after the death of Mark Donohue, who had lost his life in a crash in Austria two weeks earlier (Penske's first IndyCar win as a car owner after Donohue's death would come a couple of weeks later when Tom Sneva, who was Allison's teammate for that year's Indianapolis 500, won at Michigan). It would also be Allison's last victory until the 1978 Daytona 500, the race that rejuvenated his career. And as hard as it would be to believe, it wouldn't be until 2018 that Penske would score another victory at Darlington (with Brad Keselowski the week before Brad scored Penske's only NASCAR win at Indianapolis to date).
NASACAR really should consider putting the track back to 1967 specs with their bumper cars and bumper track walls. That would be entertaining and we could, from there, find out who the REAL drivers are as time goes by lol. THANK YOU for the HISTORICAL post
6-10…gordon,childress,may,JACOBI,Langley. Nice to see THOSE GUYS get a nice finish and a decent payday. last quarter of the race i kept askin WHOSE IN THIRD LOL
