the amount of effort put into this is really amazing. Super Fun to watch. I worked on a stratocaster I owned and man it was a LOT of work. This is way more insane!! haha
Looking great so far!
I personally would spray a clear coat over oil to bring up the grain texture but only when it's dried which can take a while depending on the weather conditions. Can't wait to see the final product!
great job on the dying of the top and on inserting the inlays. However, I hope the acrylic clear over the tru oil won't cause gas bubbles under the finish in a year or two.
Usually it's best to only use nitro clear on top of oil.
I found the acrylic lacquer that I used reacted very similarly to how I've seen nitro behave. Also I didn't use much Tru oil at all, it was mostly just to try and change the hue of the flamed maple a little bit. Either way if I remember I'll let you know a year on if I encounter any problems with the guitar :)
Did you apply a sealer coat, before the true oil. Great job with the inlay. Inserting the electronics in a 355 is a complete pain.
Loving the way that true oil brought out the grain in the body and neck, just curious why you sprayed acrylic clear over the oil finish? But the guitar looks great
Thanks so much man. I originally just wanted to use Tru oil but the texture on the maple was weird hence adding some acrylic on top. On the mahogany the Tru oil alone was smooth and perfect.
Hi mate, where did you get the inlays made? They look great, as does the rest of the guitar 👍🏼
Hi Andrew, I bought them from a gentleman named Andy de Paule. You can look him and his shop up online, he has stopped in Vietnam and the US. andydepaule@luthiersupply.com
I coulda learned more if u woulda talked us thru some of the steps a bit more instead of ffw.
Oh no, not the same 3 cowboy chords for 8 minutes, again.. 🥴 That's a shame.
Why do these chinese kit makers always have to put the oversized huge fret marker on the first fret? Doesn't look right
This is looking awesome. I'm new to building but I've learned a lot from this video. Thank you for posting. Love you all Bill.
