I had a black 94 SC and I loved the way it looked!!! Such a gorgeous car. Yours is awesome looking. I now have a red 99 corvette but still miss the old thunder chicken!!
Thank God I got a place here in ga. That rebuilds alternators for super couples. Since you can't buy them anymore. Get a interstate battery, they work great and last longer. Almost 7 years on my current one. Cost more but we'll worth it. There's is nothing better than coming out of the grocery store and looking for your s.c. because it looks so good setting lower than all these 4 door suv s
You’re not alone. We’ve been fighting the end of the build bugs on my 93’ SC for almost 6 months now. We finished our engine build in July and it seems to just be a never ending cycle. My set up isn’t quite as intense as yours, But it also seems like the most random issues keep popping up. Love the car but nothing ever comes easy on these things
Well least we can have a support network here. Hate that you're fighting the same problems. Hopefully you're close to being able to enjoy your SC again. 🤙🏼
I love my 93 Thunderbird lx 5.0HO, it's an engine that's easy to work on and has relatively good parts availability. It feels fast (to me, I know its probably only 200ish hp) and Handles like a bat outta hell on the highway, the IRS suspension is a dream in highway curves I love like sitting up sideways kinda in the seat while taking turns with ease at 80+mph. At this point though I just can't wait to drive her again, she just had her trans rebuilt next it's the diff with 3:73's and a cobra irs ford racing diff girdle.
I briefly owned a 93 5.0 in Sunset Red that rings true with everything you just stated. Hope you get her back on the road so you can enjoy her again! 🤙🏼
I know someone selling a 92' Thunderbird SC 3.8 V6 Automatic.. 77,000 original miles.. everything works.. very clean inside and out.. the dude is asking 10k.. I don't have time to deal with a problematic car.. Any suggestions? Are they all problematic..?
The price is pretty strong. If I'm being honest (and not a SC Homer) they all have some degree of problems.. Heck these cars were problematic from day 1 with the headgaskets. I will say a well maintained SC with no modifications or simple bolt on are usually the best in terms of reliability. The 89-92 Teeves braking system would be another concern as they're prone to fail and expensive to repair. Good luck with your purchase. 🤙🏼
@@628productions I took that bird on a test run.. I noticed it was excessively shaking when I was stopped.. @@jeffjunk with these cars there are a number of things that could cause those symptoms. Shaking could be motor mount failure (common), vac leaks, misfire...just a few that come to mind. Hard to be an internet mechanic. I've owned a few SCs where the engine light being off was more worrisome than it being on for that matter. 😄. I drove a new '93 Blue 5 speed SC in Washington state. Thats when I got bit. Lugging it in 3rd gear, hit the gas to make the light and smoked the tires. I got one. Bad motor. LKQ replaced the motor and messed it up. They screwed up the motor and the 3rd and final replacement went in. About 10 years ago I found the title had an extra digit and I pretty much gave up on the car. I got a 95 auto for my son. Trans and head gaskets at the same time. Body rot says waste of time. Son bought Royer 93. 3 months in and #3 rod bearing left the chat. Body rot was too far gone. Trans was welded to the motor with corrosion. (Lake recovery?) Finally got my blue 95 5 speed. I have motors. In a rush we found two dead cylinders and did a work around. Just to make a cruise to the Tail of the Dragon. 4 spark plugs on #4 and 17qts of oil there and back. Worth it. I’m kinda in the same place with my turbo coupe. I took it apart about 4 years ago to paint it, and then life happened. The car got painted and then sat in my garage for four years waiting on me to put it bak together. Now that I got it back together and started driving it again I’m running into drivability issues from where it sat so long. It’s frustrating it seems like one problem after another.
I am a fan of the LX 4.6 94-97 Birds. I do love the SC but these cars are becoming even harder and harder to find parts for. I guess the rarity of the car is what I don’t like. But what I do like is plenty. It’s majestic, the name THUNDERBIRD!!! I also love that it’s not a mustang, it’s so much more comfortable inside being it’s a business sports coupe. I love the feeling of being behind the wheel, it has the same feeling as being behind the wheel of any sports cars. I love the rear deck lights, that would be my favourite part of the car. Your car is beautiful, this channel is far an few, not a lot of T-Bird content out there. Keep up with the informative vids..
